  1. I don't play much since my PC is absolute garbage, but I'll probably get back into it properly once I eventually get a new one. I had Minekaze and Kongou (tier 5 DD and BB) before the wipe along with a couple other ships, but I'm only at around tier 3 of IJN DD right now.

  2. NaokiP on NA, member of 495th as well. I've got several tier 6 and 7 tanks and around three to four tier 8s unlocked (all German) but no credits to buy them :eng99:

Panther, VK 30.02 Daimler-Benz, Spaehpanzer I C, T29 are my top tier mains, with Jagdpanzer IV, Hellcat, T-34/85, VK 36.01 Henschel and Chaffee being my secondary branches . I really enjoy lights and mediums. Been playing since around 2010, and I consider myself an average player, most of my bad performances are caused by sheer laziness and apathy.

  3. I love CYOA forum stories, let's do this. Personally, I'd actually prefer if it weren't C&C based, but if it is, I'll take RA1 or TD-era. WW2 to contemporary is where I'm feeling most comfortable with something like this. And have the main characters as "important people" that have some control over events and forces but still aren't quite at the top. How about it?

  4. In any case, my general strategy? It depends on the game, the map and the matchup.

More or less, yeah... Different opponents and matchups require different ideas.

When it comes to Generals, my most preferred one is early expansion or booming. Send the first builder out immediately to build an expansion. It's costly and risky early on, but can pay off if nothing goes wrong because I get resources, sight, map control, building space... And deny my opponent all of the above. But it means less money to build early units, and vulnerability to direct rushes... High risk, high profit.

I've even done silly stuff like place a barracks right in front of Voe's base. Good times.

  5. Taking this off-topic for a moment, but have you ever played Valkyria Chronicles, Squid?

It's a game that effectively combines turn-based tactics (top-down, simplified view) and third person real-time shooter elements, along with some basic resource management between missions and RPG elements.
It's a far cry from what you have in mind, obviously, but I think it's a start of what a combined top-down and first/third person hybrid could become.

There's also Source Mods like Empires or Nuclear Dawn that have been around for years now, which have successfully integrated a top-down "Commander" role ingame, one that oversees building placement, vehicle production and resource management and issues orders while all the other players play the game in a first-person perspective. It's an amazing mix, and it's so saddening to see both games dying off because they're such a niche and have reached a stopgap in development, it reminds me of why W3D projects also can't get the break in popularity they deserve.

The original Dune RPG DOS game touches on a lot of things you mentioned in your previous post, as go between first person text-based RPG and a top down strategy sort of display when traveling across the planet. And you've got resource management, troop management... it's a really overwhelming game unless you look some instructions up, hahah

  6. Maybe you're cutting down Cyborgs too much there? I know they've always been kind of the odd one out when it comes to balance, but still. Maybe cut it by a third for a start, and see where that goes.

Ditto on removal of binocs for Officer/Cadre. It just bothers me sometimes when I need to use my secondary weapon. Maybe have it set to a Q alternate? idunno.

    Disk sounds cool. Pistol nerf, not so much ;_;

Also, we should probably test the reported Confessor damage thing.

Also, please fix the veterancy check script. Please. Whoever's job that is.

  7.

Nod lost when they lost the MK1 there. Nothing they can really do to take on MK2 and MK1 at the same time.

I killed it! That was me! Went out with a MLRS looking to assassinate the Mammoth Tank, and lo and behold, I find it outside of base with no escorts and at about half health. A few missile barrages later, no more Mammoth!

Possible. I was piloting the Mammoth when it happened... Nod was just all over the place, struggling to organize. Either everyone was swarming the Mammoth, or no one was anywhere near it. It's a weird dynamic, and there needed to be some proper leadership there. Leadership that I couldn't bother to provide :v:

  8. You can remove the icon by typing !unbind into chat. Maybe you should have the server bot tell that to people periodically to circulate knowledge of the feature. Not sure what that does to gameplay, only used it when I was an "actor" while the devs were filming a new trailer.

It gives you a notification when someone from your team enters your vehicle. You can then use !vkick to force them out and reclaim it. It's useful for when a new player comes on and just decides to grab the first thing he sees, honestly.

  9. Glad to see that everything got sorted out in the matter of a day.

Like Timeaua said, the component base seems to take a lot of damage from missiles. Is that intended? It seems way too much.

I'm also a bit worried about the Cyborg's speed buff. They're powerful enough as-is, a speed buff will make them even more fearsome with how they are now.

EDIT: Yep, borgs are op. pls nerf.

  10. It's a bit counter-intuitive... A total noob won't know he even has the AA option when he starts out playing because the game has no clear indication of it. If there were a tutorial map or hints that pop up on your first playthrough(s) this could work (imagine him switching rocket types and adjusting optics, a mode switch of sorts with a slight visual difference maybe?), but since that's not the case it would only add unnecessary complications.

  11. I'd also like to do some infantry compilations, but for that I'd need to round up some players. Additionally, I'm having a hard time getting good angles due to the fact that I can't access spectator mode. I heard that I can get !spec'd by an in-game mod or something like that (which would be great on a populated server!).

Yeah, just send any of us on a message asking very nicely :v:

I think it's fine for a match or two if it's for promotional material and stuff.
