Red Alert 2 Turns 25!

This weekend marks a monumental milestone: the 25th anniversary of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.

A quarter of a century ago, this iconic RTS stormed onto the scene and captured our hearts and minds with it's bizarre and eccentric take on a cold war turned hot.

To celebrate the game that inspired Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising, we’re thrilled to announce a brand-new patch that aims to address some of the most prominent community feedback!

We've been quiet for a while, but the game hasn't been abandoned. we're still working on it when we find the time and hope to keep it maintained in the run up to our next big update. Here's what to expect in the meantime.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the Spy or Terrorist could block the purchase of Boris or Tanya by disguising as them
  • Fixed an Issue where regular bullets were doing way too much damage to Kirovs
  • Fixed casing ejections for multiple weapons
  • Oil Derricks now show house colours
  • Several vehicles had target boxes added which should help when locking on to them
  • Fixed an issue where the Patriot Missile was not targeting parachuting enemy infantry

General Changes

Points System Rebalance

The points and credit bounty system has been completely rebalanced. Here are the new values:

Points:

  • Damage Infantry: 25
  • Damage Vehicle: 50
  • Damage LowTier Defence: 125
  • Damage Defence: 250
  • Damage Building: 500
  • Damage AI Miner: 0
  • Kill Infantry: 25
  • Kill Vehicle: 50
  • Kill LowTier Defence*: 125
  • Kill Defence*: 250
  • Kill Building*: 500
  • Kill AI Miner*: 100

*Points awarded to the Team, not the player

Credits

  • Damage Infantry: Cost / 10
  • Damage Vehicle: Cost / 10
  • Damage LowTier Defence: 100
  • Damage Defence: 200
  • Damage Building: 400
  • Damage AI Miner: 20
  • Kill Infantry: 0
  • Kill Vehicle: 0
  • Kill LowTier Defence: 0
  • Kill Defence: 0
  • Kill Building: 0
  • Kill AI Miner: 0

Misc Changes

The radar has been zoomed in slightly to tighten radar detection

Map Changes

Dune Patrol

  • The Air Force Command HQ has been rotated 180 degrees

Snowbound

  • Fixed a texture blend seam outside the Soviet base.- Adjusted a potential stuck spot for vehicles between two trees and a rock outside the Allied base.

Little Big Lake

  • Fixed some floating grass.
  • Moved a crate spawn from inside a building.
  • Filled a terrain hole by one of the upper bridges to the island.
  • Added some more tree density in order to prevent degenerate Artillery gameplay

Fort Bradley

  • Un-floated some grass by the tents outside the Soviet base.
  • Fixed some holes
  • Removed several Nullgons on Civilian Buildings

Freezing Straits

  • AI War Miner doesn't get stuck as often heading out to the further ore field.

Balance Changes

Attack Dog

  • Sniffing for Spies is now an activatable ability
    • Use 2 on the keyboard
    • Recommended: Add an alternative keybind for it. Q is good.

Flak Trooper

  • Primary Explosion Damage Radius: 6 -> 4
  • Primary Explosion Damage: 20 -> 17

Boris

  • Boris’ Grenade launcher now has a model

Flak Track

  • Reload time 1.25s -> 1.0s
  • Primary Damage: 30 -> 28
  • Secondary Damage: 10 -> 8
  • Secondary Range: 160m -> 165m
  • Secondary Explosion Radius: 4 -> 6

V3 Rocket Launcher

  • Reduced Targeting Range 250m -> 210m
  • Primary Gravity Scale: 3.75 -> 4.5
  • Secondary Gravity Scale: 20 -> 12
  • Explosion Radius: 20 -> 18
  • Inner Explosion Radius: 12 -> 8

Siege Chopper

  • Revamped Camera
  • Tweaked flight movement to be faster and more responsive when turning
  • Changed Warhead of Siege Cannon from Artillery to Tank Shell
  • Siege Cannon Damage: 80 -> 90
  • Siege Cannon Velocity: 150 -> 300
  • Siege Cannon Reload Time: 2.2s -> 1.5s
  • Siege Cannon Explosion Radius: 14 -> 5
  • Siege Cannon Inner Explosion Radius: 7 -> 4
  • Siege Cannon Camera Shake Radius: 20 -> 6
  • AutoCannon Damage 15 -> 20
  • AutoCannon Rate of Fire 12 -> 10
  • AutoCannon Explosion Damage Radius: 2.5 -> 1.5
  • AutoCannon Inner Explosion Damage Radius: 1.8 -> 1.25
  • AutoCannon Camera Shake Radius: 2 -> 1.5
  • Replaced Both Firing Sounds
