Hi and welcome to the 15th update of Battle for Dune!

|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

The pistol is the side arm weapon all units carry in case your clip gets dry or you run out of ammo.

Nice update, but is it possible to get a render of that pistol with a bit more contras, as it is pretty hard to see what is the pistol and what is the background

imho, it would be better if infantry had infinite ammo and the pistol was only available to those units which had a pistol (i.e. Kindjal, Mortar, and Harkonnen Engineer)

Not a bad idea ^^

Well tbh, the ren idea of inf is better than the APB one. Give all inf a pistol with unlimited ammo, limited ammo for their main gun and a C4.

i dont like the idea of giving regular inf a c4, it kinda makes the role of a specialised unit that is supposed to carry c4 pointless..

Infantry shouldn't have C4, it's not at all what E:BFD was like. It makes all units good against structures, which simply wasn't the case in E:BFD. Infantry attacked structures with their main weapon, and some were designed to be very good at it (chem troopers, kindjal, mortar etc), some were designed so that they are not.

Imho, the engineer should have a c4 capable of destroying a structure (unless there's some way of making it possible to actually capture it), the other infantry units should not have C4 - they should have infinite ammo, as they did in E:BFD, and they shouldn't have pistols except for the three E:BFD units which had pistols (Atreides Kindjal, Ordos Mortar, Harkonnen Engineer).

look at the Ordos AA Trooper or the Harkonnen Trooper - they were designed to be almost useless against infantry. Giving them the same pistol as the Mortar/Kindjal totally changes the balance, because Mortar/Kindjal were supposed to be somewhat capable of defending themselves against infantry, the trooper isn't.

What works in a RTS doesn't always work in a FPS, why would you make a basic unit so heavily dependant on other units when its not even that important? also giving main weapons infinite ammo will just be like APB and units will camp and such, and did every unit in C&C:TD have a pistol and C4? No. But Renegade still put them in, i mean i would be so lame if you managed to get inside a building with no-one else knowing and then can do nothing to it.Keeping infantry like renegade's is a better option because they will stand more of a chance out in the map, and seeing as our maps are going to be big... it would make sence making them more able.

Im in favour of giving basic inf some kind of anti tank bomb, something that would be effecive against buildings but would do significant damage to a tank e.g say each basic inf has one bomb it would need for of those inf bombs to take a tank down, more for higher tier tanks like the devastator and maybe less for ordos tanks as they sacrifice armour for a shield and speed. I thing that would be one way to make E:BFD unique and not another clone of renegade and it would also create more need for people to use teamwork.

So you are saying people camp in APB? funny enough I see it the exact opposite, that people tend to camp more in Renegade

and did every unit in C&C:TD have a pistol and C4? No. But Renegade still put them in,

Did I say I agree with Renegade? that is in fact one (no not the only but one) of the reasons I quit Renegade

do infantry stand more of a chance with limited ammo, apart from unlimited? :)

and beside if you get 3-4 basic inf in each with one c4 you can kill a building in a matter of seconds, where it take quite a lot of time without C4

so presumably vehicles will have finite ammo too, then?

why would you make a basic unit so heavily dependant on other units when its not even that important?

you're basically saying why not make all the infantry alike in their ability to destroy buildings, which is pretty dumb. Compare the chem trooper to the Sniper. They're both about the same power vs infantry, the Sniper having a huge range advantage. The chem trooper on the other hand can bring some pain to structures. If you make the Sniper good vs structures too, you've upset the balance.

also giving main weapons infinite ammo will just be like APB and units will camp and such

uh, camp? Camp where? Camp how?

i mean i would be so lame if you managed to get inside a building with no-one else knowing and then can do nothing to it.

which infantry are you talking about? presumably the Sniper, because every other infantry would be able to do some damage if they hit the MCT. if you are indeed talking about the sniper, why would you even bother entering a building? if that's your plan, why not be an Kindjal or Engineer? (hell, even an Atreides Infantry)

That's just dumb.

no, it'd create less need for teamwork. Keeping it true to E:BFD (i.e. my way) creates more need for teamwork. EG the kindjal/troopers can pwn vehicles but don't do so well against infantry. Meanwhile chem/snipers/flamethrowers will lay waste to infantry but die to vehicles, so you need a mix of them.

Teamwork.

i meant does little or no damage to buildings :/

Lol why would i make all weapons good against structures and if you think i am going to make the weapons alike you haven't been reading.

And this is not going to be like APB where a basic soldier can just walk in a kill a building with a machine gun and ofcourse snipers aren't going to hurt a building...

And i was referring to the machine gunner... because he will NOT be hurting a building with his gun... so we give him a timed C4.

but really if you take... what? 4 machine gunner inf then, and if they get in a building without noone notice after about those 30 secs the build just blows up with no warning at all? that is what I don't like really

Thats True If Engi's Have C4's Only 3 Is Needed To Destroy A Building So If They All Have C4's Then Any 3 Unit's If They Get In Unseen Can Destroy A Full BuildingWith 1 Timed C4 Each
