So, I am trying to say, that W3D Hub as a community should also work more to expand their auditory, to show good games. Just like in that song from Tiberium Dawn OST, remember? "Reaching out to the other worlds!" Why not to bring back the golden age of Westwood Studios? 😃

Thats a bit much to ask from devs who dont get paid for their work. :P

    FREE SPEECH.

    S H U T - I T - D O W N

This is the type of thinking that turned it from ironic to unironic. It's not exactly officially approved, it's just put into its own containment board. Everyone who goes BUT MUH RACZISM missed stuff like us trying to save bakfiets from homelessness or the daily conversation we had about anything and everything. It was a place to freely express opinions and debate ANYTHING. Shutting that type of thing down just gives credence to the points made by all the people whom this certain people have an issue with. All they had to do was join, and put them in their place if they felt so strongly, anyone was free to do so.

Yah-Nosh, the majority of the Renegade community are huge advocates of freedom of expression. I was blamed as a ring leader for saying things I've said for years that are suddenly unfashionable or unacceptable because a few sensitive sallys who can't be bothered to take it up with me directly have to go tell the playground monitors on me. That's a separate issue though. If you didn't like the Grille, then you didn't need to even look at it. It's like being mad people are saying things you don't like somewhere you don't even have to frequent and imposing your will on that. That's what I will never get, this autistic obsession of controlling how other people conduct themselves.
Like I said before, it's something no other Renegade communities have, and it was a community favourite among many regulars. If you didn't like it, you should have muted it immediately and forgot about it.

Existence doesn't = approval of the boards content. Containment boards are a strategy utilized by online communities since I first started posting online back in 2005.

I dunno, kinda sounds like you're the one who is obsessed over something that doesnt seem that important. Calm down your tits. Whats stopping you from being a libtard on other platforms?

PS i have no idea what im talking about

I asked that too with the advent of RenX. I got a similar answer, that it would mean starting everything from scratch and learning how to develop on a more unfamiliar engine. There's also a certain bit of pride in stretching the capabilities of W3D so far, as seen in APB Delta and AR. Thing is, Renegade X has a nice SDK out now, and a lot more people are skilled in (or have the motivation to be) UDK.

It could be a rights issue, RenX is one thing but if UDK gets a huge C&C modding community? That could be something EA doesn't want. Who knows.

It wouldnt be starting over from scratch. All the basic game mechanics are there. Even mechs are ingame and working. Hell, they even have the Tesla Tanked from APB directly ported over. It only took a few hours to get that thing up and running, tesla zaps and all.

But yeah, UDKs community is massive compared to the handful of people who are skilled in modding W3D. W3DHub would benefit alot from it in my humble opinion.
I love w3d as much as everyone else here, but its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond its expiry date.

  4. When was the renegade community NOT toxic? lol.

In all fairness, people have moved on. Those who played (and loved) renegade have grown up, got jobs etc. Its very hard to compete against the thousands of excellent free games that are out there nowadays. Fortnite, TF2, LoL. Same with game engines.  You have really need to have something special to grab peoples attention, something which is nearly impossible with the dated w3d engine.

Finding motivation to work on projects you know people will hardly play is... well... hard.

Well, apparently we found this hidden in an archive somewhere. Neither me or Pushwall unfortunately remember who originally made this and there didn't appear to be any documentation on this level.

What I do with this is not yet decided. It'd help if I knew who originally made this.

That would be me :v I never leaked Gamma though.

From what I remember, you leaked an old, not working version of it. RC86 perhaps?

I don't remember to be honest. I think it was a corrupted installer of Apocalypse Rising.

Anyway, good luck to you raap.

  7. I get the feeling those crates are just vehicles... So they will die when tipped over, they won't provide cover against splash damage, servers will likely choke having to keep up with a much larger number of physics-able objects than normal, and client performance will suffer as well as each and every physics-able prop will have to be its own individual object, each eating up a draw call (or more if they have multiple materials).

No, they won't die when tipped over. They do have a collision mesh. Not sure how that affects server performance, but i never noticed an issue in a 40 player server with about 30+ boxes. (this was infantry beta)

  8.

Don't expect a release within the next 2 years. Not enough developers, not enough interest. It's basically a dead project.

I know it sounds depressing, but giving false hope will only lead to disappointment.

No need to be so depressing. The game will see a release at some point, but there's still a lot of work to be done. The project itself in it's unreleased state is way more robust than APB or Reborn because it was built from the ground up rather than on top of Renegade's always.dat file. It should be pretty awesome to play when it's released.

Why not release what you have now and go from there? This mod is way overdue.

  9. Why is the biped top heavy walker leaning with the terrain? Does UDK not have the power to make proper mech physics? Or are you showing off that a normal tank can be animated like a mech like has been done in Renegade and many other games for years?

I see little point moving to UDK if its going to have us make the same hacks Renegade already does. It might be prettier, but why move from one dated engine to another.

Perhaps the servers won't be empty 90% of the time. That's a pretty good reason to move engines. :- )

  10.

I could say the same thing about you being uninformed about TSR, since he was referring to Underground logic, which is different than stealth detection.

Can you ? Where did i say underground is stealth logic ? I meant that both are easily possible in UDK. Im assuming with underground logic you mean tanks that can travel beyond the surface. And why should that be complicated to make ? You just add an animation for it to dig itself in then you make it invisible and disable its collision. Should be pretty much done in minutes. Thats no rocket science.

@OWA: Unreal Script is an OO Language like C++. It is 90% identical to C++. Any "self respecting" programmer should have no issues learning a slightly different language. Any "self respecting" programmer should learn more then just one language. The biggest challenge you would run into in either UDK or UE4 is getting to know the API and how things fit together (and the API is 90% identical in UDK and UE4 as Epic obviously didnt reinvent their whole API from UE3 to UE4).

But i get that you want to work on YOUR projects and you do not consider RenX or extensions to it to be your project. You either want to continue on w3d or want to make something completly new (so years down the line if ever). GL. Though when it turns out to be this easy to get tiberium vehicles working in RenX and the reborn team doesent want to work on it then the question comes up about what should we do to not let this titan etc go to waste. Its taking our vehicle designer about a day per vehicle to get it working in RenX and he would gladly offer his help and expertice to any team trying to make a tiberium mod. Of course if the model artists wouldnt give permission the models would need to be redone so this would take a lot more time then.

I know this is all tough to awnser. But it is not my job to tell the commuunity what to do. However as part of the RenX team i do consider it to be my job to inform you about the options so the community can make informed decissions.

Pretty much all of the asset creators who worked on original Reborn are cool with a UDK port. None of them are active on the current team, besides DarkAngel i think.

TSR has alot of units that have features that Renegade X never planned for. Underground units, Unit detection, Mechs, and Deploy-able vehicles are just a hand full of issues that we would be running into with the Renegade X SDK. One of the biggest issues that we currently have with the W3D engine is that everything has to be scripted in and a lot of what we want to do isn't possible because of that reason. With the Renegade X SDK we would have a lot of those same issues

    "Underground units,Unit detection" ? -> Sure

Im just putting salt in i know. But you kinda asked for it by saying this uninformed things about the Renegade X SDK. Thats all. Peace :)

CCR X is upon us :c00l:

  12. Jesus Wally, calm down your tits.

I'm not threatening you with anything. I even offered you to work together on this.

I'm willing to invest a bit of time into developing TSR for a new engine. Creating and updating assets you are allowed to use in future (ue4) projects. While the old assets only serve as placeholders.

  13. Im

Tell me. How is it any different from what happened to BHP and you guys just few months ago?

Something with a pot and a kettle... yeah

Because the ENTIRE reborn team came with us. Plus we aren't using anything from BHP. You are attempting to create something without the reborn team, but using our assets. THAT'S the problem.

So what about stealing the forum database? ;) I remember people were pretty pissed off about that.

  14. Tell me. How is it any different from what happened to BHP and you guys just few months ago?

Something with a pot and a kettle... yeah.

There's nothing stopping me from releasing the source files and you know it.

It's just that the assets are so outdated no one will give a shit about them :p

So thats how you want this to go down...damn and I had really thought you had grown up. I regret ever going to bat for you.

]Some things never seem to change, how predicable.

Teamwolf nailed this one right on the head.
No i won't publish anything. I just want make it clear no one needs your or w3dhubs consent to use the assets as they do not belong to you.
  15.

Alright. i'll keep things internal until we redo all of the game art. Even though some of the original creators have already agreed to me using their assets.

@Dave what's a C&D order going to do when they don't own the copyright? Not even the original creators do. All designs belong to EA, aside from the custom stuff. Wallywood is talking out of his ass.

Not sure how asking someone to not use our teams property is talking out of my ass but okay. Good luck with your mod, I'm sure it'll be fun having some healthy competition even though it's all going to become a big waste.

Thanks. I just don't like people claiming assets which they did not create as their own.

It's not your teams property and never will be.

    Let's end this discussions here.
