i don't want to go there again but:
TSR is nothing more than a gameplay / balance mod of the original CC: Reborn. I have as much right as you to use the assets.
Besides, what do you have to lose? I really don't understand the protectionism going on here.
I wouldn't even mind working together with W3Dhub on this.

mostly for funzies ;-) but i might release a playable build in case people really like it.
Ill make sure i get permission from the original creators.

My chair is pretty comfy to be fair, but I get your point. I'd like to do something on UE4, but I currently neither have the time or the team to do anything substantial with AR on a next-gen engine. Also there's the fact that I work on games for a living on top of AR, so sometimes I come home feeling pretty drained and not as willing to work on the projects. But people like you just like to sit in their chair and do nothing while bragging about the old times, So you need an excuse.
There's a few factors that make this decision an incredibly tricky one for me personally.
So... just hand it over to someone who does have time? Get some fresh people on board to help you out. I have ported 80% of all Reborn assets to UDK. 30 mins of work a day / 1 month total.

The real question is, can you both guarantee players will even play it? People still have toasters as for PCs as it is and all this does is segregate the community. Why does the game needed to be ported at this time? There are already healthy numbers of people playing.
On a side note, I remember back in 2013 during OWA's birthday there was 40 (maybe 50) people playing, it was glorious and it would be amazing to see such levels again.
It's a bit silly to halt advancements in engine tech in favor of a very small minority who can't afford a 300$ PC that can run UDK.
The benefits far outweigh the negatives

UE4 would of made more sense... It's better.
Yes. It sure makes more sense to you. And i can tell you why. Cause Renegade X already released an SDK so there would be nothing stopping you from starting to dig into it. But people like you just like to sit in their chair and do nothing while bragging about the old times, So you need an excuse. And UE4 is the perfect excuse. That a port to UE4 would be much more work and that you have no starting point like Ren or RenX is perfect, cause you dont want things to change anyway.
Yup. That's why i've started working on my own Reborn port for UDK. Not having enough staff is no excuse... plenty of people out there interested in helping out.
The framework is there... the game art is there. The tools are easy as hell. The argument that UDK is "10 years old" is BS. It's still way better than anything W3D has to offer.

Something like this would be nice

hmmm, i think it's the first time this map has been shown to the public.

That map looks familiar to me. Wasn't it (or another map similar to yours) released for the infantry beta some years ago?
It's based on that map

if you need any custom textures or things for signs and that let me know. Sure i could give a hand if you need it.
Textures are always welcome. :- ) Especially ground & rock textures are needed.

It's a remake of a remake. Anyone remember this?

I say bring back everything the infantry beta had for infantry-only maps. Beacons, snipers, mines and stuff. It would also bring some much needed variety to the game.

I haven't decided on the exact base locations or tech levels yet. I might close off access to the ramp-thingies and disable artillery.

I'm definitely not a fan of that approach here. They look less like cliffs and more like oversized stone pebbles that a giant placed against the walls. I don't think the RenX "style" is going to translate over very well without SSAO, normals, specularity, etc. Even then, it doesn't look as good as it would if it were based on actual cliffs found in nature.
It's not bad, but I think you could do a lot better.
Sure. Can you give me some examples?
I always hated Renegade's flat cliff style... they make the game look old and cheap.

Attempting some Renegade-X style rock meshes. Performance shouldn't be affected.
May add lightmaps later on

Another map that was nearly finished.

Nice... polycount should be fine. TS_Grand_Canyon has well over a million polygons.

The main problem is that the majority of the art assets are not up to par with UDK. At the moment, Tiberium is really the only mod that would recieve no harm from a move. AR is a close second, but structures would need to be redone. TSR would need a redo of all art assets as they are outdated.
Perhaps not, but they could serve as very nice placeholders. Just imported several buildings and vehicles using the source files from reborn and they look effing great.
I might even do a total conversion myself.

for me it feels like all the eyecandy makes games less enjoyable after a time i dont know why. compare resident evil on playstation one and the new remake, fir me the old one is still much scaryer.
Eyecandy is good for attracting people. Gameplay is more important when playing the game.
Right now W3D's terrible graphics engine chases away people before they even consider playing the game.

i wanna use that dog to stick some C4´s on some tanks lol dog rush ftw
Was it the Germans that trained dogs to hide under tanks (strapped with bombs) or a different country.
The soviets used them. Germans too probably.

Just wait and see. You'll love it
Unreal script is no problem. I have several people working on TS specific functions. It's not that big of a deal.
I understand you dont want competition. And its not meant to be. It'll be an opensource release everyone can use, edit and modify to their hearts content. Even W3Dhub.
