There was no town that game The same argument could be made for me, yes, except that I'm the one making the argument and I know it's not me. If someone else did make the argument against me I'd have little defense, at least on that front. The weakening thing comes because of our strategy, at one point, of keeping everyone roughly equal. The thing is, if I battle, I don't think I'll lose, so it'll just be wasted effort.

Well, given how lapras has worked out for me, I'd say you can rest easy and bow out if you want, I can handle things from here.

Honestly, on that front, I think we might still have to carry out the battles. This is a battle game after all. An outnumbered town could still win if they have better pokemon.

I played some Pokemon Y yesterday, and literally the first pokemon I came across was a Pinsir. It did not stand a chance against my Mega-Charizard. Then, I played some showdown battles, random battle, and the first pokemon my opponent had was a Pinsir. It stood no chance against my Zapdos. I think the verdict is clear, it's just not a good time for Pinsir.

I think people *really* overvalue VPs.

If it's trainer on trainer, one trainer gets weaker, one gets stronger, but possibly less trainers overall. It's quite possible to become strong without battling. I got to stage 3 just now on a strong pokemon and I didn't battle it once.

Or Rocket could have been expected to really pull their weight early on and cause trainer on trainer before trainers got their act together.
