Event [Game End] RA:APB-themed Mafia game IV (Staplerfahrer Edition)
Jeod replied to VERTi60's topic in Forum Games
I'm a Sniper. I check for night actions, not alignment. Killing You was killing "someone" last night but the PM didn't tell me if he succeeded. I don't know if he's a Longbow and I don't know if my sniper rifle can kill him if he is a vehicle. Trying to get confirmation.- 653 replies

You know, after reading the thread again, FRAYDO has only posted once--and he's the last one to use the whole "vote/unvote" thing at daystart, while GenCamo started it. That could explain why nobody is defending Mojoman. They could be trying to fit in at daystart by following the first poster's lead. #lookguysifoundallthescum- 653 replies

Don't forget that being in sync doesn't have to mean scum. There's a potential masonry, right? Or does that need to be triggered by the Airfield? At any rate, that's food for thought later on. GenCam hasn't put up any sort of defense for Mojoman, so if there's a team it's just between Isaac and Mojoman. Oddly fitting given the previous game.- 653 replies

You you should've learned something from the previous games. You aren't new after all. Lynching gives town information. Who voted whom, whose reasoning was weak/strong, etc. No Lynch gives town speculations upon speculations and a free night kill for the scum. Also. Isaac the C4 would've been defused if lynched. His trigger was shooting. The one and only role you'd rather not lynch is a "fool" but even then, normally GMs just let the game continue with fool's win being more of a side-event. So all in all, I am seeing no reason to actively push on Mojo right now. He's a curious case for sure, but not in the way I'd pay attention to just yet. You, GenCamo, on the other hand, give me several bad vibes at the same time: - Accusations but no votes. - Active role information fishing from Mojo. - Feigning ignorance of why Nodlied goes after Voe D1 most of the time. - He mentioned giving easy hammer for scum. With 2 votes in effect. In 11 players game. Wat.png. - Overall got pretty defensive with very little pressure. ##vote GenCamo Solid reasoning, but I have to disagree with this. GeneralCamo is at least putting forth content. Mojoman's statements are not only suspiciously odd for a Soviet, but he also voted me directly after Isaac did, with a weak argument for why, and has offered little else since. If we're going to debate who should die on the first day, it should not be a player who is active and offers information in analysis and votes. We'll need that kind of info down the road.- 653 replies

I just did it as a bit of a joke and tradition in these mafia games, where we vote Voe D1 always. I'm not stupid enough to give an easy hammer opportunity for the Mafia literally 10 minutes after the day started though, hence why I unvoted immediately. Plus the fact that Voe didn't actually do anything wrong. I should point out that Nodlied STILL hasn't unvoted Voe yet. Why is that? Does he want to kill someone randomly for no reason? If this is the case, who is he working for? I'm going to prevent an RNGesus from occurring yet again and give one to the No Lynch. I don't want to hammer a no lynch however, so I will retract my vote if that looks to be the case. ##vote No Lynch No lynch is always a bad idea. It literally gives scum a free night kill. Regardless, here is where i would normally say something smart but i still havent read the thread so not this time We have surprisingly good info for Day 1. With hammer in 8 hours, you should read the thread. For now, I'll cast my vote. ##vote Mojoman At least until you explain yourself more. You may think your odd statements are good for town, but they're not.- 653 replies

Check your URL. It has to end in .gif, .jpg, or .png. If it has anything after it, like referrers or .gifv, it won't work. Mojoman claimed cop when he was about to die. Now it's Day 1. He's smarter than that. I have to say, I expected a better opening post from you Cat5. No long analysis to show us? Although that is a good point about the air units. However, blend that into the third party theories we have, and it really only fits the bill if the Molotov Brothers don't exist. The Allies are their 'customers', so if they have nightkilling ability then they run the risk of killing their own allies--and if they somehow knew who the scum were so they could avoid such a thing, then they may as well be Allies anyway. No, I doubt the Molotov Brothers would be a third party in this setting. They'd be serial killers then, and I don't think it's likely that Verti would break lore in the 20th anniversary game. The air units are his primary focus, which points to the Grunyevs as a viable third party serial killer faction if the Allies need to take off and land to perform their nightkills. I guess we'll find out.- 653 replies

Jeod replied to VERTi60's topic in Forum Games
Correct, but rather than try to pick out a needle in a haystack on the first day, covering all the bases means to try to predict how the game will unfold. For example, your two nightkill hypothesis and our discussion of the Molotov Brothers and the Grunyevs, and what abilities they might have. If we can predict the outcome of the first night as closely as possible, then our plan phase actions will have more meaning than simply choosing a random player to investigate or roleblock or give a new unit to.- 653 replies

You say it's shady but if it were true, then Mojoman would most likely be Soviet. Consequently, if he were scum, I don't think he would even include the bit about "if you flip today". It's suspicious, but it's not enough to put him on the spot.- 653 replies

Precisely. Nothing better to do and it brings awareness to the table. I'm satisfied with the stirred pot for now. ##unvote I've got my eye on Isaac and Mojo though. I'm not so suspicious of Isaac based on his reaction to my vote, but of Mojoman's reaction to my vote.- 653 replies

But, as Generalcamo pointed out (and I happen to agree with him), the Molotov Brothers are more Allied-aligned than third party and would likely be immune to alignment cops. I don't discount the idea, but I need more evidence to consider it. If they're actually a part of the scumteam, then they probably have some pretty powerful actions. If, for a moment, I pretend their existence is fact, that would mean that Daniel and Yuri are on the scumteam. That means they have a sniper rifle of sorts and a rocket soldier (vehicle destroyer) with an upgraded weapon. Sorry, it submitted before I was done. Anyway, if I pretend the Molotovs exist, and given their weapons, then it would mean the flying unit mechanic Verti put a lot of attention to in the rules is moot. The Allies would have a Longbow and a Helipad, or be two Molotovs. At the moment, that doesn't seem plausible.- 653 replies

That doesn't add up with the flavor though; perhaps your word choice is odd to my interpretation. My current train of thought suggests that there is a third party--the Grunyev Revolutionists. If they have a nightkill ability then yes it might as well be a second scum team. Two separate Allied teams doesn't make sense. If that's what you're proposing, mind explaining it more?- 653 replies

You're revealing a lot for Day 1. With 11 players we definitely have either a third party or more scum, and given the flavor I'm proposing there's a third party. We got lucky with the visceroids last time. RNGesus might not be so kind this time. We're not just hunting Allies here.- 653 replies

Your comment was far less empty than the rest of the players, excluding myself and Generalcamo. Your post was actually a reaction to the flavor text, before I'd even highlighted it. Incorrect? Do you perhaps know something that I don't? The interesting thing here is that neither of you have even commented on the third party theories. As Soviets we want to make sense of the factions as soon as possible.- 653 replies

Event [Game End] RA:APB-themed Mafia game IV (Staplerfahrer Edition)
Jeod replied to VERTi60's topic in Forum Games
I'd considered that too, but the key phrase that tipped me to Grunyev was "enemy territory". The Molotovs are known to be in Soviet territory (see: "comrades in foreign lands"). Maybe I'm over-examining the flavor text, but I do suspect Grunyev Revolutionaries over the Molotov Brothers. You know, I've considered the Molotov Brothers as well when you first mentioned this. But, then I realized the Molotov Brothers had direct support from the allies in the form of Tanya and the Naval Arsenal, which would pretty much make them aligned with the Allies, not Third Party. The Grunyev Revolutionaries on the other hand did not have any such support, and only used the equipment which could have easily been stolen rather than given or sold to them. They would be more likely to be a Third Party faction for this reason. If the Molotov Brothers are in-game, they are likely investigation-immune Allied Spies because they would be assumed to be supporting the Soviets. They may also have a special ability of some sort, because these would be the Molotov Brothers. That explanation is faulty. The Grunyevs had military support from the Allies--hence the shady deals. There is no basis to suggest they stole their weapons except for from the Soviets, since they had access to both arsenals. Regarding the Molotovs, your hypothesis means that, like the mission, a Soviet Spy would need to uncover them. That seems too reliant on one role, and the new theme this game looks to be the addition of air units. That said, if you want to compare the two and ask me whether the Grunyevs or Molotovs are in the game, I'd have to choose the Grunyevs based on present evidence and conjecture. Finally, if it's not the Grunyevs, then it's a humanoid faction. YOU CAN'T MAKE SHADY ASS DEALS WITH VISCEROIDS. Moving on from that. There's not much to see in the other player's posts so far. The only thing that sort of stands out to me is Isaac's odd line of "shady allies and conventional town". Though he may not have seen off the bat that the shady deals thing signaled a hint to a third party and assumed that the shadiness was all coming from the Allies. So, going on a repeat of last game, I'll make a weak stab at Isaac for the easy lynch and it will somehow be flipped onto FRAYDO. ##vote Isaac- 653 replies
