  1. While I'd love to... and I'm actually checking the forums more regularly now again... I actually signed up for a pretty big time commitment that'll keep me busy probably through the end of summer (and that's not even counting the fact that starting next week I start a new role at work I accidentally promoted into).

You see... almost immediately after I left being a tester here... I became a tester for an actual video game (still unpaid though :v).  Completely different genre, political sim (but hey, I have a masters in polisci, so it's right up my alley).  The game is being programmed and it's just one guy so that's slow going, but the rules are more or less complete so we're doing playtests basically in tabletop form to work out any bugs before we actually get to early release.

If anyone wants to check it out (though the kickstarter is over):  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/966309371/a-more-perfect-union-0/description

I very much like your story-telling abilities here, and the story is coming along well! It is a very good read.

Option 1 seems to be our best bet. Option 2 is not likely to offer us much intel that we probably could not gather ourselves, while Option 3 does not give us much benefit either at this time. Lukas may need our help, he may not. He is the head of the farmer coalition after all, so our assistance may not be needed in dispatching the two men following him, if they do in fact turn out to be a threat to him.

Lol, watch them turn out to be his buddies acting as bodyguards and we're wrong.

  3. This is a tough choice, but I'm going to go with option 1, and I think I have a solid reason for doing so.  Options 2 and 3 offer good payouts, but we can get those payouts later in the story, most likely.  If we save Lukas from what are likely Nod agents following him, we could rally the anti-Nod segment of the population.  That's basically what we came here to do, and if we don't do this, we risk potentially losing it entirely.  We can unlock a slew of options for progression here that could become unavailable if we try to rush the main objective, basically.

Nothing fancy yet, will add a more detailed post later. Just want to let you all know that this game will start December 12th. Only Christmas-themed roles will be accepted. Hanukkah, Kwanza, and any other similar holiday roles will also be accepted.

Die Hard roles will not be accepted.

    I'll sign up.

Though on that last note, the last 20 minutes of work a bunch of us just goofed off by going through the shared drive folder of photos of past year's Christmas Cubicle decorating contests, and apparently a few years ago someone entered with a Die Hard entry that included placing a cardboard cutout of John McClain in the ventilation duct above their desk.

I feel like it's a bit late to plan on avoiding the villagers while having landed at the village.

Ironically this is probably one of the smartest things Shade has ever said despite the fact that I am too low-key hoping to avoid the villagers despite having pushed hard for landing at the village and now voting for option 1.

Also let me know how much you'd like me to be involved in the discussion. While I have general ideas for each of the choices, it's not like I have everything planned out down to the last detail.

I'll say with the starting few choices, nothing would be a direct fail state. All 3 of the options are viable, but as you've discussed there could be some downsides that would make it harder to reach the Research Centre depending on the choice you make.

In the end, this is just Shade and me bickering because Shade's gone totally off the rails on economics in PMs.

And if a single villager alerts Nod that a heavily armed individual just walked into Town asking about the Research Center?

Or any Nod personal that are visiting the closest population center see us?

And what support do you think they could give? Does one of them have a key card from their janitorial job at the research center that they're allowed to take home? :p

On top of which, I'll point out that it's still seven miles to the Research Center. So we probably need to find a vehicle to use, unless the plan is taking an hour or more to get there on foot. So we are actually betting on the locals supporting us and not betraying us, otherwise it'd be better to go somewhere else and minimize the risk.

Does it sound like Nod and the locals get along?

Now, the fun question is what do you expect to happen if you enter into Town?

Any of these options could have a downside, but personally I'm hoping we can enlist some local support from the townsfolk. If things go bad, well, we can probably handle the townsfolk better than we can dropping into the middle of a Nod Base, even a small one.  Granted, as a commando, we can probably handle a lot of things, but there's no need to make things overly difficult.

That'd work out better in a more in depth setup, that was more of a traditional RPG style games with multiple characters being used in the same party.

It could work, I mean the thing about this game is really, it's completely freeform.  And, in terms of player calculus, it's more akin to a classic tabletop in that it's the players against the gm, which basically means the rules are what you make them.  When we regularly played D&D, the rules were there to facilitate the fun, not to constrain the players.  Who cares if summoning a blue whale in an underground cavern is technically against the rules, it was one of our most memorable misteps.

We were both doing our best to be cooperative and we ended up being the tie vote on D2. I'm still surprised Town managed to recover.

Yeah I mean to be fair, you weren't scum either. I didn't go in hard against you because you didn't react like scum would and it gave me pause, but I knew I wasn't scum (because spoiler: I was town), but eh.
