1. awesome guys. Ill add the news that your latest blog has been released onto my site! Great work on the engineer. BUt you said that you wont be able to capture buildings. So whats the point of having a 'capture building' button on the texture?

    Otherwise gr8 work!:D

Tech buildings are capturable, enemy base buildings aren't.

Also, thanks for adding us to your sitenews :)

  2. Welcome to this repiar based blog where I will be taking you through some neat new engineer assets that have recently been made.

The Engineer

rm5248 has been busy on a new engineer model. this is currently WIP so he will not look the same as he is now. He carrys the obligatory roll of duck tape and can of WD40 to show that he means buisness.

    engi4.jpg

His Tools

Poggel modelled the engineer's utility case and then cfehunter textured it. The engineer will carry this case into battle. It will provide repair and capture functions for use on buildings and tech buildings. (Enemy buildings are not going to be capturable).

Banner

The_Aces_of_Razgriz has whipped us up a new banner ready for the new website and forum skin to be put into action.

    Check it out here.

Calling all modders

    Apocalypse Rising needs you!

At the moment we are in dire need of texture artists and character artists to get the mod rolling faster.

Contact me or cfehunter if you think that you are capable of doing this.

Next week

I was aiming to show you lots of stuff this week but I can't because I didn't recieve the neccessary files. Hopefully you should see a lot of things next week.

Thats is it for this week though. Stay tuned for nore next week.

  3. few questions:

    1. How will u use the Osprey on ur destroyer to attak subs?

    2. How will u use the horenets on an aircraft carrier?

    3. just curious how will u control dolphins and giant squids?

    4. will there even be any naval yards/units in the first release

    Here is an answer.....

Please go and ask these questions in the FAQ or Open Debate threads.

  4. CnC Rules said the AR story could be After RA2 but before YR, but by having yuri it has to be before RA2 ends as they leave soviets in some of the last missions, where having the YR tech it needs to be AT LEAST after RA2 ends.

There is no mention in the Allied Campaign of this, only in the Soviet Campaign which isn't the one that leads to Yuri's Revenge.

Romanov gets killed in the Soviet Campaign, but not in the Allied one so the campaigns can't be interlaced either.

  5. the story could be after the soviet mission but before yuris revenge where soviets could be researching all their new technology but yuri hasnt quite made his army yet and is still hiding.

It's all correct in the canon of the universe but we don't need an actual story until we decided to do a singleplayer mode.

  6. That warning signal is so awesome, i can't wait to have infantry fights and tank battles around that!

As for the camo, good idea. White one owns.

The GI looks indeed kinda... funny :p

Question: When you are getting damaged, will you spout voice lines like the infantry did in RA2?

The conscript will shout "Mommy!" and the Rocketeer with "There's too much flak!" etc.

  7. Whoah, 40 blogs. Thats a lot. It is also my girlfriend's birthday today. Happy birthday Shannon, I love you so much <3 To commemorate these momentus events I have prepared some cool stuff for you to see and watch ^^

Grizzly Tank

cfehunter has valiantly been unwrapping and texturing the Grizzly Tank. Here are the results of two days of almost solid work. He stayed up all last night to get the texture finished so big big props to him. I think it has turned out really well and it is cfehunter's best texture so far :) Of course with APB doing camo variants we may as well follow suit so we have included four camo variants :o

Ore Extractor Drill

dtrngd has been busy at work animating the ore extractor drill that will feature on most maps. The animation has been tweaked to a fine art and the sound fits perfectly (although more sound will be added later and timing for the drilling interval will probably be shortened). Take a look below. When I first saw this video I really couldn't believe how atmospheric the sounds made it. Check it out.

GI (Subject to Change) and Sandbags

Here is something that I have been keeping back for a while. From the Verge of Armageddon Assets, we have the GI. The GI is the basic infantry for the Allied Faction, he starts off with a Machine Pistol/SMG weapon which is not as good as the Soviet Conscript's PPSH. However, at the push of a button the GI deploys into some sandbags. He is immobile at this point but he is able to use a much more powerful weapon that has a greater range and pwer than the PPSH. This makes the GI deadly as they can fortify positions particularly well. Although the GI deploys, we are unsure whether we should allow a little bit of movement so that the GI is never totally stationary. Here is the model of the GI ( by the VoA team) and the sandbags (by our very own rm5248).

Bluehell Group

There are only five more days to audition for Operation L.E.G.O! Audition here now or else you will miss out on this great opportunity!

Team Notices

I'm off to get my haircut today D: Also I completed rigging the Soviet Starshina for APB. Only the medic to finish off now :) I also joined the Taco Empire Clan :)

cfehunter has decided that overnight texturing may not be a good thing healthwise. :D

Ric suffered a PC meltdown but it has now been stabilised.

danpaul88 is helping APB by getting the tech scanner ready for use.

Eggman891 is rigging up rocket launchers like nobody's buisness.

    dtrngd is away til Friday.

NeptuneUK hs joined us to compose som songs for use in AR. Expect some awesome tracks being played on our maps from the mastermind behind Hell March 3 and Act On Instinct 2.

Nameme99 is juggling APB rigging as well as managing the Scud Storm mod.

drunkill is going to try out some texturing for us, starting with the Ore Extractor Drilll.

Poggel is working on the Tesla Trooper's gun. It's looking great so far.

Chevy787 is unwrapping the IFV ready for texturing.

Soviet_Deso is texturing up the Chrono Miner for us. We should have a lot of stuff textured by the end of the holidays ready for testing. We need infantry though, I may have to resort to mishmashing what we have to make new infantry or even borrowing some of the APB infantry for placeholders. D:

We are done

    Same time next week :)

  8. Wow kinda crazy to see the success of my taco mobile O-o....

Whole story about is... this is the first vehicle i ever added to renegade... like 5-6 years ago. Why a taco? Cause Tomatoes wheels crush everything!

It was supposed to be an easter egg... hidded in some Vengeance's map.... The taco is supposed to fire a spay of tabasco (since i love tabasco).....

There also a Hotdog mobile around in my old files.... wich was supposed to go with the taco. with Fried oignon rings wheels.. and trowing Homing fries.... yea... im silly like that lol... you dont have any idea of all the stuff i tested/did/planed lol

There is also a Pie launche.. for a clown character... wich trowbalistic exploding rasberry pies.... (dont ask why)

And also the mighty Toaster launcher.. where you load up Toast and fire a Double Toast blast!

Most of these model were to test various stuff in the Renegade engine. Will they make the final of AR? we will see....xP

and .. probly ill come up with a new flavored taco...

This sounds so awesome. This stuff must be in one of the next tests we do! Pure awesome!

  9. i would suggest to keep "turrets" target locator active.. to have an easyer user feedback of what you are really pointing at. So this mean if you want to get in the BF (not in the turret), you will know that you are or not targeting a turret...

Still; targeting a bf turret or not... you know its the bf. If you are the ennemi; shoot what ever you can hit xP (IMO)

That is basically what we were thinking there :D

  10. Veterancy system sounds good.

Since the turrets are independant (at least seeming so to me) of the Battle Fortress, does that mean they are killable? Or if they aren't, wouldn't that mean any hits absorbed by the turrets wouldn't damage the tank, excluding splash? Or will the damage transfer through the turret to the tank? Also, how's the work on running over tanks and walls with the fortress going?

Soviet base looked cool, but Allies ftw :< Ya'll are making me wanna play it more each week.

Damage is all linked to a main health value.

  11. Welcome to this week's AR blog (Take fucking three)

RA2 Vengeance Video

Here is a video illustrating some cool stuff from RA2 Vengeance. A mod that has been kindly donated to us by THeKGBSpy. Most of this content is over three years old and does not represent the final quality of Apocalypse Rising. There is a fly through the base that I was hiding last week as well as the battle fortress in action with the kirov airship also making another appearance.

New Map

dtrngd, our new mapper has been cooking up something cool for Apocalypse Rising over the past few weeks. Namely a conversion of the 1v1 map, Little Big Lake from Red Alert 2. Below are some WIP shots of the map.

    arlake.jpg

    betterthansandbags.jpg

Complimentary Renders

Here are a few renders for you.

Firstly is a render of the Harrier by Ric. This will hopefully be in the first release.

Lastly we have some IFV Forms by me with assets taken from various donated models including RA2 Vengeance.

    IFV Gun

    IFV Repair

    IFV Sniper

    (In no particular ordering)

Vehicle Promotions

To simplify things, I'll let the master mind behind the veterancy script, danpaul88, talk you through this.

Ok, One thing I have noticed with the recent tests is that it is VERY easy to get an Elite Apocalypse Tank by using an infantry unit which gets promoted quickly, such as a GI or Conscript, as they get promoted fairly quickly.

This brings to mind the following question: Should vehicles have a SEPERATE points requirement for promotion to the infantry driving them? Your infantry veterancy points would still form the basis of the points required for the vehicle promotion, but the actual points required would be different. Example using some random figures...

Soviet Conscript - Veteran at 12 points, Elite at 24.

Soviet Flak Trooper - Veteran at 14 points, Elite at 28.

Soviet Rhino Tank - Veteran at 22 points, Elite at 46.

Soviet Apocalypse Tank - Veteran at 30 points, Elite at 70.

danpaul88 is a Conscript with 28 veterancy points. This means his Conscript is Elite. However if he buys a Rhino tank it would only become a Veteran Rhino Tank. If he bought an Apocalypse Tank it would not even be Veteran.

OWA is a Flak Trooper with 52 veterancy points. This means his Flak Trooper is Elite. If he buys a Rhino tank it would become an Elite Rhino Tank. However if he bought an Apocalypse Tank it would only become a Veteran Apocalypse Tank.

Each unit has a points value, for example an Apocalypse Tank might be worth 40 points.

If you are the unit which actually KILLS the unit you get 50% of the points total (In this example, 20 points)

When you DAMAGE the unit you get (50% of points total)/(max unit HP + Armour)*damage. So if our example Apocalypse Tank has 100 max health and 100 max armour and you do 50 damage to it, you get 5 points.

Repairing a unit is the same as damage, but divided by 4, so repairing that 50 damage you just did will net you 1.25 points.

If you killed a unit and nobody else damaged it you should get the total points value of that unit (ie: 40 points in this example, 20 from the kill and 20 from all the damage done)

This is how it currently works, some things might still be adjusted (such as the split of points between killer and damagers), and the weighting on repairs etc. However it gives you a good idea of how stuff works.

I feel this is a sensible way to stop people abusing the veterancy system. What are your thoughts on this?

New Staff

Congratulations to our three new Bluehell Productions Staff Mambers!
