  1. TBH It wouldn't even matter if disks were OP in tunnels, since they are pretty vulnerable on the open field and pretty useless if they have to attack from longer range. The splash could be compensated by ROF. The only problem would be the maps where one tunnel is actually a chocking point (Field?), though the Nod's toxin grenade or Cadre's secondary could basically do the same thing too.

  2. See these AAPC rushes are very unbalanced vs. Nod SAPCs rushes since AAPCs are way faster and more effective, while SAPCs are super slow and if there is pavement everywhere in the GDI base it's almost impossible to bypass the defenses.

Although this issue could get fixed by a good map design that would take into account SAPCs (creating shortcuts only passable underground), right now Nod would do much better with the KW's Nod fast & deployable APC.

ATM the only way to stop the GDI rushes there has to be one or two reapers guarding the base/building entrances.

  3. The only unit which Nod lacks atm is some late tier heavy duty vehicle to stop the GDI heavy rushes though Nod has STs and DTs which could be utilized to be more efficient fighting infantry (DTs) and heavy armor (STs) instead of being base rapers.

Then again let's wait after the armor type update and see how things will be holding then, I'm particularly interested to see if deployed tick tanks can hold up more and how the Juggernauts will spice things on the battlefield.

  4. STO was one of my first favorite MMOs and I enjoyed it for a while but then it actually became a lot more micro management that I could handle, more or less just like ACK pointed out in regards to crew management. All the grinding missions became repetitive, the amount of various resources and complexity started to be overwhelming, and fun factor decreased. For anything pretty or good you had to pay or trade your a** off and there were still limitations on everything which sometimes frustrated me for quite some time. TBH I haven't seen the game for years so maybe it got a bit better here and there but it's probably even more complex :p

That said I've started a little mini Star Trek series in RC where I intend to build some ST ships, maybe even Galaxy, Excalibur, or even some of the new ships.

  5. Because "eliminating" it involves shifting the focus of the game. Why not simply remove the people who are of a low enough character to kill-whore from the community entirely? It will clean up both the game and the forums, which is a win-win in my book.

Being an admin and/or mod for multiple games, I can say out clearly from experience that doing so will usually cause more problems in the end, ESPECIALLY in smaller game communities where everyone knows each other pretty much (aka harder to hide moderation actions from public). If you try doing this, other people will start doing it. If you have one person doing it - it may be ok at first but eventually if the game's flaw continues, you'll have eventually more people doing it and then moderation becomes a two edged sword. People will either start hating the enforcement or the game's bad design one way or another and in the end community/game will suffer.

It's good to have things sorted out by balancing and moderating excessive abuse of game flaws only which cannot be fixed atm or is getting fixed in the future.

  6. Right now GDI relies heavily on vehicles, most of the battles are won by vehicles. From infantry stand point GDI really lacks a good anti armor unit except Stalker ofc. Disk throwers never really worked against armor even in the RTS, they were mere grenadier units and used most in first campaign missions. I think they should, along with rocket soldiers considered to be low tier armor fighters and still available when Bar/HoN dies. While RS is still doing better job apparently fighting vehicles, then again disks are now better against infantry since the RS nerf.

So what options do we have to boost the GDI's lack for armor fighters? Either we remove the Nod Confessor and nerf the Cyborg's cannon so both sides will have to rely on low tier armor fighters, or simply introduce new unit. I think the later is better as the first option is a step back and doesn't add anything better to the game.

  7. First and foremost we need the super weapons in the game, too many battles end either in stall or steamroll. Super weapons can shift the game play to be more unpredictable. Though super weapons are tied to buildings so we're waiting at that too, while at the same time as wally noted everything else is being progressed.

  8. I used to have so many nicknames that it gave me a vertigo :p

Seriously, this one stayed mainly because of derping a lot in Descent (the pilot's name was Vertigo 1) and later Freespace as well way back before I kinda replaced it with Renegade. I used to be involved in mods, mapping, etc.

My other most used nick is ivons - a merge of my real name and short of NetStorm, a game/community I was heavily involved as well (my first online community so to speak). My old vids kinda explain it.

  9. All the w3d games really need a simple marking system, just like Q or Tab work in different team based games. It basically goes down to marking them which will then be distributed to other team players either via map/gui/sound or all three if possible.

The absence of marking enemies is sometimes driving me nuts, especially when you're trying to find your enemies from a longer distance.

  10. That was a third party launcher made by ChronOS btw some weeks ago :p I'm not even sure if that went to be official or not for APB either. The original launcher which hosted all projects and games ever since has not changed though, but it's a good call regardless.
