  1. Keyword RUN lol, keep in mind that starting a company costs money, and there is always a chance that people won't like what you make, thus meaning its a complete loss. But yeah in general managers make far more money. Hehe. Having some fortune in bitcoin surely didn't hurt as it allowed me to hire some people full time. Most of my profit goes straight back into the company. Crowdfunding is an option. But ofcourse is no gaurantee for success. Having a good idea, execution, virality and a bit of luck is what it comes down to. My company is basically a hobby that grew out of proportions. I don't have any degree in game design whatsoever.
  2. 120k euros/year. I run my own game development company (mobile games)
  3. Obviously a UDK/UE4 version would not be ready tomorrow. It takes up to 2-3 years to have something playable... which my guess is the lifespan W3D has left. There's no need to abandon W3D. But it would be wise to have something ready for when the curtain falls on W3D.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y5g-F20YsE Perhaps some more up and down movement. Otherwise it looks great!
  5. Yeh, it even had the breaking ice thingy when tanks drove over it. Everything was backed up on the FTP iirc.
  6. A map by r315r4z0r which was nearly finished. Notice the layer of snow on the buildings... Would be nice if it was included in Reborn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1iSF-f5hHc
  7. She's a she, FYI. Kai has always been excellent at picking out balance points, and finding excellent ways to fix them too. She actually has positions elsewhere in the C&C community, hence why I know her personally. We also played Team Fortress 2 once or twice. I think they were lost around the time you decided to make maps in the 3.4.4 editor, which broke everything. Nothing was broken. I had them running in game without any issues. Someone else must have screwed something up....
  8. Whatever happened to the newer versions of my maps? They fixed alot of things. Especially Snow and Isles
  9. This. UDK is a breeze compared to W3D. I'm sure very few people , if any, are willing to invest time into learning the ins and outs of such an outdated engine. Gmax sucks, 3Dmax8 requires pirating and plugin workarounds. LE can drive people insane with random crashes and weird bugs. Add to this UDK's massive userbase and many of the gameplay mechanics already being in place incase you decide to base it off RenX (mod toolset to be released next month)...
  10. So why not develop both games side by side? I think it's worth a shot.
  11. The flipside is that Reborn won't attract any new players using this engine. The outcome long term will be worse than switching over to UDK. Losing all players and devs. Have you considered how many players cookie clicker and other free games are drawing? They are not on UDK either. Sure, but they have a much broader appeal than renegade's CnC mode. FPS games tend to be judged on graphics, regardless of how good the gameplay is. There are exceptions but not many. CnC mode is niche, sadly. Even among FPS games. I guess it's also impossible to put W3D games on steam.

  13. How many players does Reborn have these days?
  14. Welcome, are you staying around long? (honestly asking btw) Depends on how much stuff there is to leak. ;D W3D doesn't interest me anymore... you should contact the RenX team and see if you can get your hands on their code. This place seriously needs some UDK love. Otherwise it'll be dead on arrival. Port stuff to UDK, publish some fancy ads, attract new folks and so on
  15. I still have the betas for Brotherhood / Rise of Apocalypse. Good times http://www.moddb.com/mods/rise-of-apocalypse
  16. You don't want to use low-poly models on the UDK engine... everything would have to be recreated anyway.
  17. Avarage.. don't really like the texture work.
  18. This thread was split from the "Moving on up" thread because the topic changed course. Why not move to UDK? W3D is dead
