Mojoman still hasn't done anything worthwhile to make me put him on my scumdar, but I agree with investigating him D3 or D4. I still want you today, Irish, not necessarily because you seem scummy, but because like the reason I was voted D1, I want to know that I can trust you before putting stock in your thoughts.
-
I think you're getting too detailed in the lore.
-
Alright, so tell me then how this hypothesis gives us an advantage over scum? Knowing whether night actions cause tension doesn't hinder scum in any way that I can see. Instead, it makes us more anxious about using our own.
-
I have no problem abstaining from using it tonight. The caution comes from wanting to protect my source. Obviously, he's a tracker and therefore scum will want him gone asap. Surely you can understand the concept and reasoning behind my opinion regarding your hypothesis.
-
So you think that players cleared through investigation can still be scum, even if their status and side are shown? Even on D1? Your list needs to be bigger, in that case.
-
Your list, Irish, sounds very tacked on as if you just want a list. You've said that Mojo is your #1 due to past behavior, though I believe he's your #1 because Category 5 listed him along with FRAYDO; you've said that CK and Retaliation are there because you don't have any reads on them (guilty until proven innocent?), and you admitted that you slapped OrangeP47 on there because of, surprise surprise, Category 5.
-
If there's a scum ability then it won't matter by the time we find out about it. This whole theory/test seems like a distraction from classic scumhunting. In fact, Irish, given that you have a tendency to go insane when things don't go your way, I think you'd be a great investigation target for today. Be nice to know if you should be trusted or ignored. ##investigate TheIrishMan

By asking who took night actions.
-
Notice I'm not shouting "don't check FRAYDO", I'm just reporting what I was told.
-
I can guarantee probably 75% accuracy on the source. If it was anonymous I would have said so--I am in a google doc with the source. It doesn't appear to be a masonry; I was not given any mention of a masonry in my role, and the google doc doesn't mention the word either, so I can't tell you whether any masonry would form if I were to be contacted by multiple sources. I'm going to stress that the report I was given only indicated FRAYDO's lack of night action, not his Side or Status. At the very least, if we're going with the theory that night actions raise tension, FRAYDO was not involved. I suppose I could, since I can just publicly post the information I'm given. I'm a tad wary of this testing method though, since it can easily narrow down my source.

Rather busy morning, I'll be more free in the afternoon (around 2-3pm EDT) to answer your questions more thoroughly, if necessary.
-
I have a theory that investigating players contributes to world tension, sort of like the Steins;Gate game where roles were locked in as lynches and kills were made. Could be wrong though, since tension didn't rise on the D1 end post. I was given a report by a source that claims FRAYDO took no action last night. So he's out of the investigation for today, maybe. I haven't picked up any bad vibes from Mojoman yet.
-
Category 5, are you still thinking about FRAYDO as a suspect?
-
I'd thought about that earlier in the night. The only advantage I can see from using the typewriter is that the action would go through before my death.
-
Glad you like the choice. Since it was the first night with nothing to write, I figured I might as well demonstrate my ability.
-
That makes sense. I'll wager there's a role that can inspect evidence and determine whether a piece is real or fake. I expect the next day to tell us more about this game in general.
-
That image is worthy of a "caption this" contest.

Given that I'm the investigation target, and that I don't know what all investigations reveal, and given that I'm not a super fancy power role, I think it's ok to tell a bit about my role. I'm an American journalist caught up in this fiasco while reporting on the Second Balkan war. Townsided of course, not task force. My status is innocent, so I'll be released and free to perform my night action, but here's the real kicker: I have a typewriter in my possession. It might be confiscated or not, I have no idea yet, but in the event that it is, I would like to have it back if Category 5 can pass it to me during the night. I can use the typewriter at night to write a "piece of text" at night to be included in the next day post. In a way, I can be the medium for anonymously reporting investigation results or other important night actions, assuming players have the ability to pass messages without publicly posting them. This is why I'm perfectly fine with being investigated--for the typewriter ability to function as I envision it, I need to be trusted by power roles.

Mojoman thinks we can kill two birds with one stone by sending me to the locker while investigating Cat5. I think he believes it will be easy to figure out if I'm lying when I tell you what I found out. The vice versa is just as effective, though, and I'm completely okay with sending Cat5 to the locker. After all, if players aren't innocent, then they can't take night actions, and Cat5 doesn't appear to be afraid of that. ##nominate Category 5 ##investigate Jeod

I'm guessing your Side is town but your Status is suspicious. I can't think of any other reason you'd bring up the possibility.
-
Think "dormant scum". If investigated, they'd be suspicious but not a threat. After a specific tension threshold, they become active. They have the same victory condition before and after, so their goal while 'dormant' is to raise world tension enough to become 'active'. The night phase will tell us more, since an absence of night kills would lend credence to this theory.
-
True, however I still believe that suspicious players can have victory conditions that require them to be warmongers, so their alignments can be set in stone. The 'suspicious' status in that case would be temporary--until tension reaches a certain point.
-
Hrm...that's true, it does all depend on what differences this game has from the traditional. It was still something that caught my eye. If you want to theorize on the structure of this game, I'll throw in my two cents on the perspective that this is more RPG-style: We have one 100% warmongerer right now. This player is the one who shot the Duke. His objective is to cause WWI, and through his actions, he can create more warmongers (i.e. turn suspicious players into warmongerers, forming the Axis powers). The scum structure aside, we also have Task Force players and Town (innocent) players. This theory means there's a possibility that we can win on Day 1, which isn't something I agree with balance-wise. I suspect there is a missing link somewhere.
-
Oh, I didn't catch that. Very well, in that case I suggest we select our investigation target the following day--only if they turn out to be trustworthy, of course. My point remains on Killing You, and I'd like second opinions on the matter.
-
Then since I'm the one being chosen to be investigated, apparently, I propose that I also be the nominee to visit the vault. I have no evidence, and to clear your conscience, I can be investigated the following day if you suspect I took anything that did happen to be submitted to the vault. However, as I'm innocent, you have nothing to fear. I simply want information.
