  1. One thing I want to point out is most Pokemon get a significant stat boost at level 30 or when they evolve. So, you should usually have an advantage vs.the NPCs barring Types. A level 30 Psyduck. HP 79 Attack 45 Defense 42 Speed 47 Special Attack 53 Special Defense 44 Vs. a level 30 Golduck which it evolves into. HP 97 Attack 63 Defense 60 Speed 65 Special Attack 71 Special Defense 62
  2. Never mind, 16% chance because of the possibility of criting.
  3. So, you want to fight my level 20 Pokemon in what would most likely be a one-sided battle?
  4. Charizard Snorlax example: Damage = ((((((2*15)/5) +2) * 70* 42/20) / 50) + 2) = (8 * 70 * 2.1) =1,176/50 = 23.52 +2 = 25.52 So, after you do this, then you do STAB, Type and RNG for Crits. Damage = ((((((2*Level)/5) +2) * Power * Atk/Def) / 50) + 2) * Modifier * Item Boost Modifier = (Crit(1,2) * STAB * Weather) * Type Modifier = 1.5 * Type
  5. So I should put you down for 6 Gyarados? FTFY.
  6. For one of these games, instead of picking our Pokemon I think I'd prefer it if the GM assigned them to use, so you don't really need to worry about running into the more OP Pokemon in the game as much. And instead you're forced to rely on training whatever Pokemon you get, or could find in game if you could capture Pokemon.
  7. And, if you only had a 5 level difference with a Snorlax. Damage = ((((((2*10)/5) +2) * 70* 30/20) / 50) + 2) = (6 * 70 * 1.5) = 630 /50 = 12.6 + 2 = 14.6 Damage = ((((((2*15)/5) +2) * 70* 42/20) / 50) + 2) = (8 * 70 * 2.1) =1,176/50 = 23.52 +2 = 25.52 25.52 / 14.6 = 1.74 One solution that would reduce the difference would be to only gain 5 levels every time you train and instead Pokemon started out at level 25.
  8. With the correct math for a 10 level difference. Damage = ((((((2*10)/5) +2) * 70* 30/20) / 50) + 2) = (6 * 70 * 1.5) = 630 /50 = 12.6 + 2 = 14.6 Damage = ((((((2*20)/5) +2) * 70* 55/20) / 50) + 2) = (10 * 70 * 2.75) =1,925/50 = 38.5 +2 = 40.5 40.5 / 14.6 = 2.77
  9. Part of the problem is how levels calculate damage. Using a Snorlax for an example against some random Pokemon with 20 defense. Damage = ((((((2*10)/5) +2) * 70* 30/20) / 50) + 2) = (6 * 70 * 1.5) = 630 /50 = 12.6 + 2 = 14.6 Damage = ((((((2*20)/5) +2) * 70* 55/20) / 50) + 2) = (8 * 70 * 2.75) =1,540 /50 = 30.8 +2 = 32.8 32.8 / 14.6 = 2.24 That's a pretty significant damage boost for what amounts to a single night action.
  10. I'll join the list then. 1. Trained. 2. Bought Items https://pokemondb.net/ You can use this to quickly figure out what moves your Pokemon can learn by generation, although I'll point out they link to the newer version of each moves after generation two.
  11. Right, I'll put you up as a viable candidate for the fight today then. It's better if we put two level 10 Pokemon against each other, since neither one of you has invested anything in them yet. Or at least that's the general idea.
  12. @Sunflower, you have a level 10 Pokemon you would't be terribly concerned about losing in a fight to Retaliation?
  13. Yeah, thinking about it I wish i had followed that same strategy for today...
  14. He also needs an opponent, but we also need to work out the details on that a bit more. You're using a level 10 Pokemon today @Retaliation?
  15. Overall though, I'm pretty certain it usually helps out Town far more than it hurts it, so I'd probably go along with it.
  16. If we had a Town investigative role in game, then it could help them find out discrepancies between a players spoken actions and actual actions, but without it, we're basically doing nothing more than keeping Rocket informed of what we're doing every night and helping them narrow down any power roles we could have.
  17. I did the math, stat wise whoever goes first wins.
  18. Fair enough, after last night, if I had a slightly faster Pokemon I could actually beat that Psyduck today, so it's at least possible someone with a better Pokemon than I could win today.
  19. Is that a vote to investigate or to battle another trainer?
  20. Technically, you could probably win with a type advantage, so I'd at least call it doable as opposed to yesterday. But you'd still probably have less than a 40% chance of succeeding now as opposed to waiting a day and doubling your odds. It's also possible though that we're run into a level 40 encounter though, but 30 should be the average level since that's 50/2.
  21. Basically, if you consider the number of Pokemon a player has left to be equal to their number of remaining lives. Then he only has two Pokemon he can afford to lose, but he still has five to pick from.
  22. You saw how well investigating before we were prepared went over yesterday didn't you?
  23. Pretty much, except Jeod has 2 Pokemon left. A player is eliminated when three of their Pokemon have fainted.
