Well, it is time for Blog 30. We have various updates and announcements to make, so take a look below I'll start the ball rolling on a serious note.
RIP Nicholas Worth, our beloved Premier Romanov
Nicholas Worth, 1938 - 2007 From this day forth we dedicate this mod not only to our fans, but also to our departed comrade, Nicholas Worth, who was one of the key influences that is making this mod a reality. Rest In Peace Comrade.
IFVs and a Gun
I have been busy fixing up the IFV ready to show to you all and I must say, I think it has turned out well. I have the Rocket IFV and the Special IFV both pictured below Model by me, original model from the Verge of Armageddon Team. Ric has been working on the Guardian GI's SMG. Below is an early WIP.
Grizzly Darts!
Tester Westy543 has made a video for you to watch illustrating how the edit vehicle physics console command can be used in conjunction with the Grizzly Tank and some well placed ramps. This is a new found game called Grizzly darts. The rules are simple: See how many Grizzly Tanks you can stick to the wall Click on the dartboard for the video.
The competition so far....
The competition is into it's first week and we have 5 entries so far! TagDaze with "Fall back to base!" Jupiter with "This is Dr Eintein" Iscream4pork with "Tanya in the Field" Westy543 with "I'm Gone!" TagDaze again with "Cillit Sniper" And Iscream4pork with "The Humorous Spy" Enter now for the chance to win a spot on our TESTING team and the privilage of your sound in the mod with your name on the credits list! And now a word from our sponsors... A_word_from_our_sponsors.mp3 Enter The Competition Here! Act quickly! The competition ends on the 16th of June!
Thats about it for this week
Well thats it. Just a few notes before I wrap this up. I have ploughed through my exams leaving only one subject left, wish me luck! Progress with AR may slow down slightly due to the exam period and the fact that APB may request help from us to get their latest release out on time. If you haven't already, go and check out APB's latest blog with all their Red Alert awesomeness! See you next wednesday for another blog filled with RA2 goodness! Now in 3d!

Well I'm fresh out of a Computing exam and ready to write this blog. Here we are, lets tear it up.
Rolling Thunder!
I recently dug something up that I had been working on for some time. The mighty Allied Battle Fortress! This vehicle is going to be the Allies' answer to the Soviet heavy armour. Load up the troops and roll over the enemy! Here it is. Model by One Winged Angel and Skulking_Ferrit
He is now ready to fly!
Check this out. rm5248 has finished the rocketeer off. The end results are sweet, check it out. Expect to see him flying soon!
RA2:AR and RA:APB Radio
Recently, both mods have been featured heavily on DJ Bloodmoss' show over at UO Radio. He is currently running a competition to see who can produce the best AR or APB advert to put on his show. As most of you are aware, I have entered along with TagDaze. You may have heard our adverts of sheer awesomeness. Here is the full story. Put all of your submissions here if you wish to submit.
Competition Time
Here is the first contest from RA2:AR! We challenge you, the community, to act some lines (of your choice) and try and impress us. TagDaze has already set the standard high. Lets see if you can better it! The best acting wins the prize. Go here for more info.
Closure
That is about it for this week's blog. Just a few quick notes before I wrap it up. Merovingian is back and better than ever. Chevy787 and Mick have finished unwrapping the drill. I'm on exams. Saberhawk has been working on a special project that stops people ripping things with XCC Mixer and that DX Ripper. No more grenades are being stolen Thats about is. See you next week!

Needs unwraps and textures now

Well it has been quite a busy week filled with coursework deadlines and other such nuisances, but never fear! The blog is here! With some new eye candy for you to gaze upon. Also today is a special day for one of our team members. Thats right! It is Danpaul88's birthday! Happy 19th my friend, have a good one!
I can go anywhere!
Thats right, we have a Rocketeer in development right now thanks to rm5248! Here are some previews. This isnt final yet, just some proportions to modify and a visor to remove, exposing the face.
AR Front End
cfehunter has been busy coding up a shiny new frontend for the mod. This will basically check for patches, maps and other nice things that we decide to put on it. It will also link you to the APB/AR main site so you can check the news. How cool is that eh? Here is an early WIP.
Stuff what we is doing now... k?
Well, I'm doing some new sounds and fixing up the IFV. cfehunter is working on the front end and some texture work too. danpaul88 & BogdanV are busy with other matters until the summer. Ric is working on a new weapon for you to see along with some new gun hands. Soviet_Deso is texturing Ric's Chrono Miner. Let RA2 fans everywhere rejoice! rm5248 is finishing off the Rocketeer Nameme is working on the level edit core and the Nighthawk transport. Coolrock is doing PR as usual. Merovingian is deciding whether he wants to continue today. I'll update this later. We have a new team member! Big round of appaluse for Poggel! He has joined us recently to do some 3d work. One of his renders is hidden in this blog. See if you can find it That concludes the blog for this week. See you next week after my first exam D:

Certainly not.
-
Heh, I was joking. I'm fairly confident in my abilities to do voice over work. Studying Drama & Theatre Studies helps. Maybe if we need more people nearer the time I'll ask you first TagDaze
-
This is only present in testing at the moment. We shall probably make the tank heavier so that it doesn't handle like a marshmallow.
-
A bit like this.
-
I think people can wait til next week. We can probably get a bigger video with more people playing at the weekend or something.

Welcome to the blog! Not much has happened this week but I'll try and dig some stuff up to show you.
Digger
I have been working away on some civilian map objects, one of which is this digger. You will be able to find this around some of the more urban maps. Whether the bucket will move or not is still to be decided. Model by Me
Core
Good news for all of you. The core for the public release is shaping up nicely, here is just a quick snippet from the presets list. All of the units here, apart from the Apocalypse Tank, the Mirage Tank and the Demo Truck, will hopefully be in the first release.
Happenings around the place
I've been gearing up for my final exams which are set to take place in two weeks time, after that I should have a lot of time for the mod. My first job is to fix up the IFV. I also recently bought a new modem and a router which is being a bit of a pig to setup. I'll have it setup eventually My good mate Pete (or cfehunter as you know him) sold me a router for £5 which was a nice bargain. He has also got into C&C3 and has only just recently finished the campaign. Back to mod work, amirite Pete? Merovingian is back on the 9th and will be posing an important question to the team. Nameme should be back soon after his holiday with some new models to show. Expect to see them appear soon. danpaul88 has a lot of university work to knuckle down to, however he will be applying the final touches to his mod scripts and his map during summer, ready for the first release. Ric and Soviet_Deso have been folllowing each other lately and both of them have joined up with Aprime at http://www.tiberiandawn.info . Watch out for this mod. Trust me, it will be good. A big Happy Birthday to rm5248 for a few days ago! He is now 18! He is currently working on the Rocketeer, expect to see some shots soon. Staude has been doing various pieces of 3d work as well as working on the RoA:DoN mod. Best of luck to that team. Coolrock has been keeping our moddb gallery up to date and keeping the fans over there in the know about what is happening. Coolrock has also been learning how to restore cars so he can take and restore his own 1971/1972 Chevelle SS. Good luck to him. Bluesummers, one of our testers and the leader of the Renegade mod, 'Sunart' was lacking 3d artists for her mod. I offered to help so now I am doing various little bits and pieces of work for them. I will also be doing some voice overs for the mod, so if you find the voices annoying, you'll know who to blame! This should also be a great mod when it is done. Westy543 in his new tester role has taken the liberty to test the Grizzly Tanks's jumping ability. It flys of the ramps quite nicely at the moment. He even got it to leapfrog another grizzly tank! And so the Apocalypse Rising Tank Olympics were born...... Mammutpanzer is absent from testing for a while due to personal issues. *Gameplay is Pending* Thats just what a few members of the team have been doing.
Thats it...
That concludes this week's blog, see you next week when I shall, hopefully, have more pictures and maybe a video to show you. Ciao!

The driver gets promoted, whatever vehicle he is currently in gets promoted to the same level. (Doesn't apply to passengers in transports)
-
No worries. As I said, there will probably be a menu that is more true to RA2 when we start polishing things. Right now it is about getting the base material down. The Apoc Tank is not final as of yet. There are a few balancing issues to address but other than that, at the moment it is gg Allies. Also, if you want to apply to be a tester, do so when we announce the internal beta. Then we shall be accepting applications 994 style. This will be close to release.

Welcome to this week's blog. We have some new content to show you!
Chrono Miner
Ric has been working for several weeks now on the Chrono Miner. It has now reached a stage where we consider it perfectly finished. Ric has also unwrapped it. Make sure to keep an eye out for it textured in future blogs. Here it is below. Unwrapped and also checker mapped.
It will soon be a wasteland.
Thats right, a video that you all have been anticipating. The Apocalypse Tank taking on several Prism Towers, Pillboxes and enemy bots. >>>Video<<< Feel free to critisize my corny Russian accent. I could have done it better if I had rehearsed a bit more. I will next time. Promise The Music is Grinder from RA2 by Frank Klepacki. The credits music is from a local band called Mars Bonfire. Note: We know about the visual bugs on the barrel recoil and the tracks, we just haven't fixed them yet.
Maps and stuff
We have three map updates for you to check out. The first map is the one that featured in the video above, RA2_Setons_Clutch.mix by danpaul88. This is a map inspired and influenced from Supreme Commander. There is still a lot of editing to be done but the very basic terrain model is down, as you can see. Next up we have RA2_Hail_Mary.mix from BogdanV. This map takes place in a giant stadium, however it is filled with craters, a downed blimp and other stuff so no sports are being played here. Unless you consider fictional war to be a sport. Finally we have THE AMAZING UN-NAMED MAP by Staude. This map is early in it's development so it is hard to tell what sort of climate it will be set in and how battles will unfold on it.
Ending Notes
Just some final things to say before I wrap this one up. Westy543 has been recruited to test the mod. Congrats to him There is a menu shaped easter egg from relatively-new team member endepende, see if you can find it without cheating Big congratulations to our APB bretheren who have made the big announcement about the newest version of A Path Beyond. Check Chronojam's post over here. That about wraps this week's blog up, see you next week when I will have killed off a few more of my coursework dealines. Salutations Comrades!

We'll try Herr General. Welcome to the forum
-
Save the rest for IRC. You'll have to wait a while to see the SEAL's frog outfit since swimming wont be until some of the later releases.
-
Westy543 wins the prize. Am Ken :sideways:

Blog updated with a hat version of the SEAL.
-
Wrong, the Navy SEAL and Tanya weren't the same. The Seal was balls against tanks and generally not as well armoured as Tanya. Why not just buy Tanya then? Simple, only one Tanya will be allowed at any one time. There will be an anti n00b device to stop the players that are generally not good at the game, from using Tanya. Plus, in AR, SEALs won't be able to level a building with a single C4 charge. It makes them too powerful for the asking price of 1000. Although your advice is valid, it is generally easier to slap images down on a post instead of making it look nice. Especially after a long, tedious day at college. I'll update it on thursday, perhaps.

Welcome to this week's Apocalypse Rising Dev Blog. I went back to college on monday from a two week holiday and, I must say, it is very tedious. Especially in this hot weather. No matter, the mod has been moving along at a steady pace, ever closer to release. Allow me to show you a few things.
Navy SEALS
TheCrow has been working hard since he joined AR last week. His first work is of the Allied Navy SEAL. These tough troops are the best of the best when it comes to gunning down infantry and reducing buildings to little piles of rubble. (Except when Special Agent Tanya is on the field of course ) All work by TheCrow Ric made the MP5 a while back and we have been discussing its setup. Should it have a scope and silencer or not? etc. If you remember, in all the nice pictures we showed you before, the MP5 had both a silencer and a scope. In a recent internal poll we have decided to do away with the silencer and keep the scope. The gun will now look a lot like this.
What the team is doing right now.
I'm currently messing about with various models and setups. Merovingian is taking a month's break from AR to contemplate various things. Nameme is working on the Level Edit Core. danpaul88 and BogdanV are both working on two interesting maps, BogdanV's being very RA2 based whilst danpaul88's is more based on Supreme Commander. Ric is reworking the Chrono Miner Model whilst doing various unwraps and more. Chevy787 is working on unwrapping rm5248's Eletric Drill that featured a few blogs back. rm5248 is putting the finishing touches to the GI's Heavy Machine Gun. TheCrow is working on a little C4, knocking at your door. AxelSnog is working on the Flak Track, getting it all textured up nicely. Staude is working on a new map. It looks a bit like RA_Bunkers.mix, but looks can be decieving. Spice is finishing up rigging the Apocalypse Tank with all of its wheels (It has loads). Paradox is working on the Rhino Tank treads, getting it ready to rig before I give the unwrap to someone. Urimas is on holiday. Svensmokavich has put his Battlefield modding on hold for a while to come and make some new maps for Renegade! The release of C&C3 inspired him to return and mod Renegade some more. Expect some nice maps and maybe a few models from him in the coming weeks cfehunter has just edited this post: I've been at my fathers since i last posted on the forum and so i havnt been able to get on, atm i'm working on the warminer still and i need to talk to ric about the unwrap. ionkill43 is making some textures for building internals so we can start getting those sorted out.
Ingame Shots Anyone?
Here we have some ingame shots of the SEAL and the Grizzly Tank in action. Some fun will he had in the coming weeks and months Screen Shots Anyone? Nameme99 edit: Thanks to Nameme99 for rigging the Grizzly tank.
Closing Thoughts and Announcements
Just a few announcements to make before I wrap this one up. Next weeks blog and all following blogs shall be on a Wednesday. This is because of two things. For one, I get home early from college on wednesday so I have more time to write the blog and make sure that I have enough time left over for things that I need to do. In other words, it is just more conveniant for me. Also since APB changed their blog day to Sunday, changing ours to Wednesday would give you an even amount of updates spread across the week, instead of being bunched up. That about wraps things up for this week See you next week for more Apocalypse Rising.
