  1. Just missed this thread by a year or so. Nice work @MechanicalThighs!
  2. It's been over a year since I touched this thread last. Here's the latest stuff I've been up to. If you like surreal/scary electrical facilities, this one is for you. If you prefer a happier, less imposing version, I have that as well. Also, big news. I got picked up to work on the remastered System Shock with Nightdive Studios. You can see some of the work I've done on our live streams:
  3. Haha, that'd be great if I could. I am unfortunately unable to do anything outside of the 60-80 hour workweeks I live through right now.
  4. Haha, thanks! I tried running Nvidia's Ansel on it to get a 360 shot. UE4 crashes each time I try. I think the scene is just too complex to do it.
  5. I would have said the same thing too. The trouble here is that they actually are relatively new. Those tankers are up to the latest DOT specifications to help avoid critical failures during collisions. They're maintained pretty well. If the camera were at the same angle with the sun in the same position, you'd see the same effect on these. It's not uncommon to see new railcars being pulled by older trains.
  6. This project is now done. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/abq8z
  7. It's 21 pages this time! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/oBWR4
  8. Not yet, nope. I may write one in the future. This took me two weeks to write, so I'm definitely taking a break from tutorials for a bit.
  9. Hey guys! I figured it was time for a new tutorial covering the absolute basics of Photoshop and NDO, and then segueing into more advanced techniques from the foundations. If you're interested, check it out! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/vxqxE
  10. I love train rides - I'll take one if I can over driving any time! Update - WIP stage 1 on this environment - made some serious progress today. Got a lot left to do still, but it's getting there! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/1ZNAe
  11. Continuing development on the environmental aspect of that freight train running through the Florida woods project.
  12. Still working on stuff - took a break to fiddle with some old work and convert it into an Ace Combat 4 version. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/NgDVP
  13. I'm not really "around", honestly. This place is the last tie I have to the C&C community. Thanks, though!
  14. There's quite a few competitors out there for 3D software, actually! What I can think of currently: Autodesk (Max, Maya) Modo Blender Cinema 4D
  15. So I've like been completely absorbed in customer support with the release of Megascans. If you haven't seen it, check out our release video: Using Megascans Studio, I whipped up this ground material in about 10 minutes: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/z00y2
  16. The finished trucks are up on ArtStation. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/gOEom SketchFab (3D view): https://sketchfab.com/models/592fe33f5a4c446ba4ae1e7c272c577c
  17. Got really busy lately with office work, but I finally had time to finish up the high-res version of the freight trucks. After this is the low-res, UVs, baking, texturing, and then modeling a couple of train cars for graffiti's sake.
  18. I wrote an article for SketchFab! https://blog.sketchfab.com/art-spotlight-electro-motive-diesel-sd40-2-locomotive/
  19. I've been taking a break for a bit due to some related work for a popular 3D site. I'll post it up as soon as it's live. In the meantime, here's last week's progress on the environment! Oh, and my website was completely redone in WordPress. I've been adding rendered stills of work I've done over the years.
  20. Hey, thanks! I'm taking a short break to finish Doom for the second time in a row, but I'll be building an environment for this locomotive based on this concept piece on ArtStation:
  21. https://sketchfab.com/models/e99bc2b21c334904adae49101dec5475 SketchFab!
  22. Thanks! It's been a lot of fun to work on this project. There's still so much left to do, but I'm getting closer!
