  1. You explained it fine. QS will not properly apply materials to the model if it's made up of several objects. You have to attach everything together before you send it over to QS. The two random faces are separate objects inside of your model and need to be attached to it.
  2. That's probably because your model isn't one object. If it isn't a single object, you'll get that shiny effect across the entire thing.
  3. That's why you shut down programs that you're not using if you don't have a lot of memory. There's no good reason to have Max running while QS and Photoshop are up. The only viewport you need for texturing is 3Do.
  4. Good luck with that. You're advocating for performance based on a game engine that dates back to 1998. Games and game art are ever-changing. You're not going to be able to play new games with old hardware forever.
  5. I use CS6 at the office and at home. Some of the guys here at the office have CC, however. It runs just like any other copy of Photoshop does.
  6. I doubt they'd look good in Renegade. Albedo maps don't have baked lighting information or extensive details. They're basically color maps.
  7. Any texture is "compatible" with Renegade if it's a targa file. The issue with Quixel Suite is that it isn't designed to create diffuse maps. It's designed to create albedo maps. They're entirely different beasts and will look vastly different from one another. http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/pbr-practice There's some information on the subject
  8. I own a license to Quixel Suite. My Swedish brethren hooked me up with a copy. It's a great tool but like any tool it'll require knowledge. Look into the documentation for it before you decide to jump in and buy it. http://quixel.se/usermanual/quixelsuite/doku.php?id=start
  9. Fun fact: Tiberium is already being built to next-gen standards. Don't be surprised if we take advantage of the offer that RenX is giving us.
  10. I think we all have a mild form of synaesthesia to some extent. I like the name because it symbolizes how I think of art. I don't handle shipping. Shapeways.com does all of the work once I upload models. If there's an issue with the print, they'll let you and I know and I'll end up needing to fix the model to make it printable. I know the Nod pendant is printable (I took the photo of it on the site there) but I'm not sure about the GDI pendants - they've had issues in the past. I'd need to modify them a bit.
  11. I've got a small shop on Shapeways.com that I may add more models to provided there's any interest. I've sold a few of the Nod pendants. I do take custom orders, if you've got an idea in mind that you'd like to have created. Oh, I changed my name - my old one has too many negative connotations.
  12. That word replacement has been around since 2004. Since this forum copied that database and all. The main sticking point is that "aircraftkiller" is two words, not three. Aircraft is one word, not two. The correct abbreviation would be AK, but it's a moot point anyhow since I'm going to have my forum name changed soon.
  13. 1. Not yet, but soon® 2. Not yet, but soon®
  14. With good reason Feel free to start a thread asking for advice, I read just about everything here. Don't get me mixed up with being an expert, though. I just do this professionally. It doesn't mean I'm an expert. I'm constantly learning and improving much like anyone else is.
  15. If you guys want assistance with modeling or texture painting, don't hesitate to ask.
  16. Volkswagen T2. I built everything here. Three exterior 2048x maps (one for each variant), one 1024x interior map, one 1024x wheel map
  17. Protip: When presenting your models for review, wires help substantially. Also, if you're a Max user, there's no reason not to render without this: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69829 I'll hold off seriously critiquing until I see wires - but from what I see so far, the engine housings could stand be smoothed out with at least another 10 sides.
  18. I'd love to take a look at it and give it a critique if Sketchfab wasn't a gigantic pile of ass. Do you mind putting up some images? I can't ever get SF to load on any machine I've ever used.
  19. I stopped playing STO when I hit 65,000 DPS and realized how much of a waste of time that game is. It's nothing more than Star Trek: Space Dress-up Dolls
  20. Nope. It's not a hard fix, either. A plastic-like bumpiness in the normal/spec map would do so much for that corridor. It's also missing Starfleet tags (the rounded rectangles, usually red, with information on them) which is also taking away from its appearance.
  21. I don't know, but they don't seem to be making a lot of progress - and their interior shots are really dated looking. That TNG-style hallway is lacking a lot of potential detail in the plastic panels. It's just too flat looking
  22. Don't get your hopes up for it. I've been waiting on Excalibur for at least four years.
  23. Tak for fødselsdagen ønskerne! (Thanks for the birthday wishes) I'm 31 now
