  1. There are a lot of assets that never got finished or never made it in game, those ranger textures may or may not exist, I do not know.

     

    Nearly every vehicle was planned to have camouflage, but as time went by a lot of staff came and went or got too busy so not every model was updated with the camouflage options. Which is in general any vehicle that does not have them is an older model.

    Just be glad that CJ isn't still running the show. If he was, Rangers would be on all maps, all the time, all factions, and you would see KovTaxis and ShockTaxis. GG any allied offensive

     

    I never liked Chronojam's idea path for the game after beta. Too much has changed that made the game enjoyable. The server issue doesn't help either.

     

    Yeah the soviet rocket launcher was added in gamma I believe. I think the ore dump change is delta?

     

    Soviets have always had some issues with flamethrowers, grenadiers and shock troopers not having definite roles. Rocket soldiers do have definite roles but they overshadow the former two even more then they already are by shock troopers.

  3. I've been using chaos1212 since I was like 11 or 12. I then later stylized it as ChAoS. Basically I liked Sonic the Hedgehog on geneses so I took it from that. One kid at school started calling caseychaos when he found out my handle, at the time I didn't like it but now I don't care so I use that as well occasionally.

     

    I've thought about changing it to something more original over the years but I'm not very good at coming up with anything else.

  4. So I thought the game night was at 10 pm my time because I saw it on facebook, (for some reason I thought it had auto time-adjust.) I just happened to be online and decided to play during the actual time because I was at home and had nothing to do lol.

     

    Speaking of that is most of your Facebook audience central Europe? IT kinda seemed like an oddball timezone on facebook.

    I did get the original disk version to work I just had to "patch" the exe to get mine to work, but this origin version seems to run better, I just set the RA2.ini to my native res, seems to work fine, game did hang during the second allied mission, have to figure out how to avoid that. I'm planing on doing a let's play soon.

    Disable Origin functionality, try installing Bibber's fixed TUC launchers (since this release is ripped from TUC), run the game in compatibility mode for Win98 and as admin.

     

    If you want to record:

     

    - if you have Windows 10, run the game in 16-bit colour mode (Compatibility tab in Properties) and use the -win parameter to run it in a window.

    What works with RA2/YR: XSplit, CamStudio, Bandicam, Hypercam

    What maybe works: OBS

    What doesn't work: Fraps

     

     

    Strange the orgin version doesn't seem to like windowed mode, I installed and did what you said, but the colors are inverted and the video in the window is squished

     

    Nevermind it seems all I had to do was change the compatibility from default windows 95 to something else, (windows xp in my case)

    Wow, I spent 2 weeks trying to get ra2 working on windows 10 (windows 10 doesn't support securom or whatever) Guess I should have just waited for this.

     

    It takes some doing but it is possible (I also laboured for a while with it, only to feel that i should have waited lol). I had to add full permission to the executable to "everyone", run in compatibility mode for XP-sp2 (some other mode may also work, I took the default), run as administrator, and also patch it to 1.006 before it would kinda work. The only things it does wrong now is the loading screen music is all messed up and it gets hung occasionally when trying to load a map while a map is already loaded (it either takes 15 mins to load or the game encounters a "fatal error"). Other than that, it works perfect. For 16:9 ratio monitors, I recommend 1280x800 resolution. It seems comfortable enough. (I realize that this is a 16:10 resolution but it stretches and works out fine. 1280x768 is also available)

    Sole Survivor, which was the closest thing to a cnc1 mod there was.

    Came here to post this. I helped SomeRhino beta test this. On the day he finally released it he basically washed his hands clean of the project and disappeared. It was a fairly well developed mod and I wish development had continued on it.

     

    I never understood why noone was into this. I emailed SomeRhino a year ago asking permission to use some of the assets for a little project I had but of course he disappeared like you said. I remember around the same time some people on BHP were trying to make yet another CnC1 mod for w3d I tried to get that project merged with http://www.moddb.com/mods/rise-of-apocalypsebut negotiations fell through. Basicly I was trying to create a TD mod for APB, I didin't really care about the art quality as much as how gameplay would be with TD units and such.

  8. Don't forget that W3D is using single core only, so if you got core 2 quad with 4 ghz and 4 cores you will get NUMBER_OF_GHZ/CORES=1GHz, witch is less than system requirements.

     

     

    I don't think you have got it quite right, that's not how multi-core processors work.

     

    4 GHZ will be the same no matter how many cores the game actually uses.

     

    It only means that for apb a high GHZ single core is better then a lower GHZ multi core, However I believe there is a lot more to it then that.

  9. Great stuff! :D It's too bad theres no Russian letters on the Soviet exit signs, but I guess that would confuse players too. :)

     

    But I have a question with the Tesla IFV being in, does that mean Tesla Tanks wont be added? (I remember it was a special unit for Russia in RA2) Because the way you worded 'scrapped' made me think is it not returning?

     

    I believe that the idea is that, for the most part Tesla Tanks have been abandoned in RA2. Only Russia has them and it's a new design. The tesla IFV we are using is more like the old RA1 design and those types of Tesla Tanks have been abandoned.

     

    But don't worry The Russians will have the Tesla Tank when we release the country specific units patch.
