Killing_You
http://comicbook.com/anime/2017/03/22/video-death-note/ Since we were playing the Death Note mafia, I figure this coming out today would be worth sharing. Starring Nat Wolff as Light, Keith Stanfield as L, and Willem Dafoe as Ryuk.
FRAYDO
I'm on the fence about it. I get they're going for a Western twist on it but come on, Light Turner? On the other hand, Willem Dafoe is Ryuk. Again, I'm on the fence about it.
OrangeP47
Forgot to reply before, but I'm basically in agreement with the above. I've seen some good things, I've seen some bad things. I hope it'll be good and unlike some other series I think it will come down to its own merits at least, instead of network meddling. Also that said I don't have Netflix anyway
VERTi60
It's very badly done from what I've seen.
Killing_You
I'll summarize my thoughts here: +Atmosphere is on point +Light seems okay +Prop design is good +WILLEM FUCKING DAFOE -Switch to America was unnecessary -L doesn't look or act like L at all -That ferris wheel scene makes me worried that it'll be unnecessarily actionized I'm interested, but I can't exactly say I'm excited.
VERTi60
I'm kind of disappointed already that it is unnecessary "Americanized" with stupid soundtrack, actors and action scenes. In that regards the Japanese movies were at least on target. Kinda similar feeling when I saw the Attack on Titan live action trailer which is trying to portrait it to Japanese setting when in fact it should be Germanic according to lore. This just proves that US film production recreating manga/anime keeps on failing just like DBZ and other crap they produced. Despite all this I'm still curious about the story and if it introduces more twists. (the original anime twist by the end wasn't all that good when Near "guessed" the x kira, compared to how L used to solve the case)
