  1. It's a closed setup with people I've not had time to develop good reads on in other games. My strategy is to just put every remotely possible possibility out there and see what all people think isn't too stupid That way, at the very least, I can make sure I did my part to ensure we didn't overlook anything. Even the slightest clue could be the crack we need
  2. While I'm not going to up and trust everything Cat 5 says, and while it can be fun to get into the whole "I know that you know that I know that you know" thing, this does give me another idea. Granted, I've long been saying that maybe the "scum" aren't in full contact, but what if it's further than that. What if it's a Cult Setup, where only certain people can be converted to the cult? After all, Light *started* alone, and had to recruit others later. Maybe, despite that last video, we're still in the 'recruiting phase' so to speak?
  3. Normally now is where I'd say let's not be so hasty, but there's some things I want to do too and I'd be a hypocrite for protesting too hard. That said, I do have to at least say I'm not so sure about either of them. Mojo I'm going to take at his word, for now, but I reserve the right to not be surprised as everyone else later if things go South. As for Nodlied... I don't have much of a read on him at all, still. Granted, that's probably on me, being overcautious. He's not done anything overtly scummy, other than maybe be a bit overzealous, but he's not particularly done anything endearing either. Aside from my overly verbose posts about my own reasoning for my own future actions, I'll leave it all that. On the other hand, I've found KY's analysis to be on point, and by and large very similar to my own thought patterns. Yeah, he might have had his moments too Day 2, but he did retract them when confronted, much much faster than the vote that was on him. I'll also say that even if he isn't 100% on target the similarity we share is enough to instill confidence in me. ##propose trust killing_you 43 (I'm just being OCD about having a nice round number, hence 43 and not 40 or 25. We all have reserves of proposal large enough it's not going to matter for anything most likely )
  4. Sometimes it stays, the first time I open a thread it always stays, but the longer the thread is open for me the shorter my window to furiously click it seems.
  5. I'd bet money there's someone out there who can steal, likely where they have to know *something* or with some restriction, but I wouldn't wager on what the mechanic is, though obviously some mechanics are more obvious than others.
  6. And again, my bad for posting so much in a row, I'll calm down now, but I thought of a good TL;DR for my above: If Misa started with a Death Note, either the one Mojo has isn't hers unless it passed through a third party, or his story is false. I'm leaning towards it not being Misa's or it passed through a third party.
  7. Hmm, well Chop definitely has generally been trustworthy so far, too, I guess.
  8. Apologies for posting so quickly, I should take the time to condense, but yet another thought just hit me. To compensate, here's the music I enjoy while reading this thread, the soundtrack to Orwell, a mystery interactive visual novel about a surveillance state The day 4 music is the best for trying to solve a mystery, IMO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCQ8KwZp1S0 *Ahem*. It occurred to me that we might have THREE Death Notes in play. This rests on the assumption that Misa had a death note, but got rid of it before being arrested. I'll admit, there's nothing but meta to go off of for that. There are some other assumptions too that are based on reasoning/human nature, but they aren't as controversial as this notion might be. Passing most likely (95% sure) occurs during the night. Misa was arrested for N2 so couldn't pass then, and didn't have it on her anyway, so that means if she started with a Death Note she'd have had to pass it before D2, IE, on N1. Nobody spoke up about getting a Death Note in the mail D2, though, so that means one of two things. 1) Misa passed it successfully to a Kira supporter, or 2) Mojo had it this entire time, only comes forward now for some reason, and is lying about the rule that it'll get plucked if not passed or secured. For the purposes of this, I am assuming option number 1. I am NOT accusing Mojo of number 2. However, this means that if Mojo is telling the truth now, a second Death Note was passed N2 and it's the one he got. Misa's first, this new one second, two death notes. If Kira himself has a death note, though, why would he pass it at this stage of the game when we aren't exactly close to knowing how to get at him (at least in my opinion), so he might have his original, a THIRD Death Note. The alternatives to this are either Misa didn't start with a Death Note, which is a possibility, Kira had a death note and passed it for some strange reason, or Kira did not have a death note and someone besides Kira/Misa had a death note in play this whole time. The indisputable thing though, from my view, is that if Mojo is telling the truth is that the death note he has is not Misa's, baring a third party having held onto Misa's Death Note on Day 2. In that possibility, it's possible the third party didn't know who was safe to send it to if that plucking rule was in effect and Misa was in jail. What does this mean? Honestly, I just like throwing out these possibilities and hoping someone else has info or insight I don't. However, I think we can safely say that both something fishy is going on here and the Kira conspiracy is larger than might have been imagined.
  9. Indeed, though I'm concerned about Mojo's statement that if he sits on it it gets plucked away. That could mean... any number of things, none of which I really have enough to go on to put forth in a coherent postulation.
  10. It impedes us in that while the note is out of play, we lose any further connection to Kira, who's still out there. Granted, removal via investigation would be the same, too, but then the deciding factor is is it worth it to out Mojo's role.
  11. Well I'm a fan of looking before I leap, even if my glasses aren't on
  12. On Jeod's quick vote: Is it possible, if he's the shinigami that just wants the note back, that he can pluck it if Mojo is arrested? Therefore winning if we arrest Mojo? Maybe that would be too big of a change from the stated assumptions of what confiscation entails... or maybe he has a special action he can pull if he knows for sure there will be a death note... Or maybe this is reverse psychology, and he actually needs time to set it up N3 and will later flip to someone else, like he can intercept the pass maybe?
  13. Mojo always gave off some fishy vibes for me, what with the 'did anyone notice me giving Voe trust' thing... I'd suggest we think about this carefully.
  14. Please use it to take out my ISP so hopefully I get a better one, trying to watch the video and it's not loading Yay rural life...
  15. By default, there's not a lot of communication between agencies in the US. Technically you have to notify someone if you move... the post office... which everyone pretty much does because it's pretty nice to get your mail delivered correctly. The post office *can* give that information to other agencies, if they ask for it, and some agencies ask more often than others. Selective Service really likes to keep on the ball with it, but that's moot because the draft hasn't been active in so long. If there's an active criminal investigation against you you can bet they'll ask the Post Office for any leads, but everyone else "knowing" that your address changed is far from automatic. That's why all that drama about people being on the voter rolls more than once is just hogwash. If you move and update your address to vote, you ARE on the voter rolls more than once, because the old location just doesn't know to remove you. I'd wager over 90% of Americans who have moved in their adult life are registered to vote in more than one location (of people that bother to vote, that is). As for my writing, it was practice for what I'd do in the professional world. A client, who might be a politician, an advocacy group, think tank, corporation, etc, would hire people like me to take a look at the law/political situation/general societal situation, pose a problem, and then ask for solutions. In this case the prompt was for graduate level work. We had quite a few things to do, but one of the things was to tackle a problem of our choosing, and I care about traffic safety and felt it was underrepresented in the body politic. It would be up to me to advance that work myself, though, as it wasn't a contract or anything. There would be options if I wanted to, but I'm currently working on other things. My current work, which is also self driven with the goal of getting it academically published, is on the very very boring issue of sales taxes to fund education, and Illinois' specific scheme and how our state government is utter crap. But yeah, I don't want to derail this thread. I'd continue on about stuff if there's interest, but I'm not sure this thread is the best place for it.
  16. It's a state thing. Renewal is required as it is, typically every 4-5 years, but varies by states. That's mostly because that's our main form of ID here, though you can just get basic ID which is cheaper (we don't have free national ID like many countries). Generally though it's just "is your address and picture current, okay, cool, here's your new one". Sometimes, if your young, you get a special under 21 licence which is just sideways and used to easily check if someone's too young to be drinking. Most people's first licence they get 16-18 and then renew at 21 for that reason. I last renewed my at 21, so now I have to renew it again at 26. If you'd had special circumstances you might have to take the "written" test again, or possibly the behind the wheel test, but that's pretty rare in the US. Lately a lot of states have been moving towards actually testing people again, though, seeing as we have a lot of terrible drivers As a side note, they're also probably really making sure people pay attention, because there is now a federal mandate for "smart IDs" which ALLEGEDLY help you get through airport security faster. Illinois was really dragging it's feet getting a new template updated to that standard (which the excuse of basically not wanting to spend the money on it) and was causing problems at the national level, and in fact missed the federal deadline like 2-3 times. We do have a new format now, though, I've seen friends born a few months earlier than me get theirs updated. As a side note, when I work I work in politics, partially as policy analysis, and have written a minor, unpublished study on traffic safety, so if you have any questions about American driving and BS state laws, I'm kind of an expert, so ask away
  17. My life is a flood of paperwork lately. That doesn't mean the weekend isn't plenty of time for fun but the notable thing this weekend is I have to get a bunch of crap together in prep for getting my licence renewed early next week. "Fun" how they always expire when your birthday is coming up I'm a very nervous driver, even if I don't do anything wrong (or perhaps I'm more careful not to do anything wrong because I'm a nervous driver), so a driving test is perhaps the only sort of test I'd get test anxiety about. Illinois recently passed something where everyone has to do the behind the wheel test each time, which to be fair, is a good, good idea, but it doesn't make me any less jittery.
  18. It's night 2, but Jeod is already so stacked with Suspicion he doesn't care about the 2 post limit To get in some discussion with my second post, I'm actually quite surprised we just picked Misa out like that. Makes me a lot more suspicious of anything Cat 5 says, but at the same time, since the set up has been noted to be changed, it's not a 100% that he has goals in opposition to the group.
  19. Technically Rem is deceased as well, and remember what Voe said earlier.
  20. ##propose suspicion Cat 5 5 I'll lock the door on you too, but not for the same reason
  21. Well just from my PoV I appeared to be the only one remembering that for awhile there
  22. Being a closed setup is kind a problem, eh, heh. The proposal/trust/suspicion is already throwing everyone for a loop. The big takeaway, though, and I think this is perfectly reasonable, is that I would not bet anything on investigations being the be all to end all of getting names to kill us.
