GraYaSDF: Hi there again, Frank! I of course have two new questions since our last conversation: 1) Which style did you choose for your next solo album? Does it sound like something between Static-X, Metallica, and/or Bon Jovi, or is it something completely new and incredible? 2) Do you plan to record your voice for upcoming metal album?

    - The Metal album will be across between many of my influences old school Metallica, anthrax, Kings x, with a touch of disturbed, and
Armored Saint, half will be instrumental with some guitar hero friends of mine shredding, and the other half will be vocals of myself and and some guest vocalists.
[blurb]We asked Frank Klepacki some questions from the community. Check it out![/blurb][thumb]thumb_apb.7.png[/thumb]

Me again going to say thanks to Frank in Facebook! Thanks for the interview, @Coolrock, I will read the full text later. The previous interview about one of his solo albums can be found here: http://download.ccassault.com/museum/articles/frank_interview_2/index.html

Still listening to Digital Frontiers and Transform. I think it is the best part of what Frank Klepacki did for a wide range of listeners. The best is that he even inspired me to create and finally release my own album (which is Imaginary Frontiers, of course) and I have to say... this is very good to have such a person! 👍

  3. The music that I love the most is music that I create by myself)) But seriously, my preferences in music which I am listening through radio are changing from time to time. For now, it is break-beat like what Seanicus did, something bright and technic like Hideki Naganuma, something rocky like Jun Senoue, and of course it is Frank Klepacki with his very catchy funk melodies and speech (Frank is a good soloist, you know).

I had actually emailed him about a week ago as part of a little project I’m working on. I did find it funny that you had posted something with him while I was trying to contact him :v

He-he)) And I was planning that interview one-two monts ago, after his announce of the album, but I wanted to wait until its release and, of course, after delivery date.

Great interview. Hopefully we can get a pretty good one!

Thanks for reading! If interview comes out and will be interesting enough to read, can you leave a reminder in W3D Hub personal messages, so I can translate it for my community? Because every single time I am translating something, I am making it not only to promote a person and their stuff, but also doing something good for many people and for myself.

By the way, as Frank said to me, feel free to ask anything. For example, I asked many other questions, requested advices (about how to make professional orchestra and which devices are better for monitoring of sound), threw him all my new works, said many thanks, and also expressed my opinion on matters that we discussed. Here are couple of examples from the past:

GraYaSDF: "God damn Petroglyph!.. They did some mess with your soundtrack, actually. I recently discovered from our fan community that they put tracks with WRONG names on them. I told you)))"

Frank Klepacki: "Lol - wouldn’t be the first time names were wrong (C&C had that issue as well). Glad you enjoy the teaser for Transform - looking forward to its release!"

GraYaSDF: "My latest track Wind In West Depot reminds me old days of Westwood Studios and their games, Frank. But it is really sad to remember those times... maybe I need to make less nostalgic tracks?"

Frank Klepacki: "Nothing sad about nostalgia - I look back on it fondly. Was the golden age of game development."

GraYaSDF: "The sound of M70x is just perfect. Maybe I need to save money for better M70x or for V-Moda Crossfade."

Frank Klepacki: "The V-Modas become uncomfortable to wear for very long periods of time. I have tried the M70x as well, it is a different sound - I still prefer the M50x."

GraYaSDF: "What the antivirus do you use to protect your devices? I have Avast, much faster than Kaspersky."

Frank Klepacki: "Using Vipre - seems pretty good."

Oh, thank you so much, and to Rebellion with BBI too, did not know the remake of Battlezone 2 has been released! I am a very huge fan of Battlezone Combat Commander and Battlezone Forgotten Enemies. By the way, the idea to make C&C Commando Assault has come from... Battlezone 2, of course! ?

I have two versions of old Battlezone 1998, and I also have Battlezone 1998 on Steam. Two first old latest versions I downloaded for free, when Ken Miller, official programmer of Battlezone 1998, helped community with the latest patches. I am still in their community, they know me as a composer of alternative soundtrack. I still like this game, even if I am not playing it actively.

What about Battlezone 2... it was fun to work on scripts for it (yep, I am a scripter of Battlezone too!), I really love editing in Battlezone 2 and its friendly interface, made few mods with massive battles on them, where over 200 pilots and tanks were fighting each other while sometimes freezing my weak PC into BSOD with 5-10% probability, lol (well, it was weak, now it can handle even more). At the time, I decided to make a remake of Command & Conquer on its engine, but after couple of troubles I decided to go back to Westwood 3D and make my mods there.

Battlezone Forgotten Enemies deserves a separate topic, so I don't need to talk about it much, but few words will be appropriate. It has good story and hardcore campaign, improved Multi-player Instant Action mode, rich variety of tactics, and of course, graphics. Made entirely by the community, and that's great. In those days, graphics was wow.

But these days, it is even more wow-er, so I am going to buy it. The memories, MPRA2, good memories! =D

  7. Hooray! "The Sea of Mighty Sand", "Insidious Night", "Poisoned Extended" - these three tracks are now in Expanse RTS, playing randomly! I hope, developers will continue the great work on it, that game has a classic feeling of real-time strategy similar to Dune 2000 and also positioned as a mobile single and multiplayer game, so you can play it even on your smartphone.

  8. I already posted a commentary in MPF topic ( if you wish to read it, click here ). In addition, Zunnie was one of my closest foreign familiars. We never met in real live, but I saw his face in Skype, and I of course heard his voice several times. I remember the last time we met in Skype, he was ill, and, as he explained to me, it was just a common cold. This was months ago, we were setting up the server for Commando Assault, so I don't know what happened to him. And no matter, is it a joke to cover him or a real event, I will be always missing him.

    P. S.: Coffee time! Yep, definitely.

  9. The second masterpiece I made from scratch after Barren World and before the remake of Red Alert Menu Theme. Just about perfect. Almost. If only I could make it more diverse...

    P. S.: Suggested for Expanse RTS devs too. They appreciate it.

For me the harmonica in country style is too emphasized. Other than that I like this track. In fact I think you are a good composer and I'm glad to have you in the C&C Community :)

Thank you for kind words. I thought it may be unusual idea to put harmonica into, for me it feels more like western music. Otherwise, this melody would have gone into the trash very quickly, this is my hobby, and I am not a professional composer.

I see that you are a producer of RA2AR, so I have a little question:

How long to wait the release of Red Alert 2 Apocalypse Rising? How far did your team develop that game? RA2AR is awesome, I could even continue to mod the game after that. I am waiting it for years, as well as I was waiting TSR Infantry Beta.

  11. Unusual mix made by me and inspired by two soundtracks at the same time. I was experimenting with Dune universe, and I tried to put some Red Alert style inside. Suggested as a music for "Expanse RTS" videogame. VSTi "Synapse Audio Software DUNE I" is included, as well as classic Roland sounds. Frank Klepacki, however, is using SAS DUNE II. As he said, it is more comfortable to use, and it has more sounds.

  12. The best orchestra and electronics mix I can offer today. I hope you enjoy it, I was composing it from scratch. I also extended it, but during the process there was some mess with rhythm, but it is okay. Also suggested this to developers of Red Sun RTS, they said it is a good soundtrack for their next videogame, Expanse RTS, and they will probably add this and other tracks from this line to their new real-time strategy game which is already on Google Play!

  13. Evgeny Yarmosh is my familiar, by the way (I am serious, lol). We became friends on VKontakte when he listened to my music. He creates good music for video games, his melodies are varying from just simple intense (Vector 2, for example) to very creative. He is also a pro in mastering. And I saw this video when he sent it to me. Good stuff, indeed ?

Hey is your SoundCloud up to date with all of your new tracks? I can't find some of them.

I abandoned Soundcloud for a while, and I moved back to YouTube. I have two music channels there. One is new, called "GraYaSDF Studio" with commercial "Imaginary Frontiers". Another is my everyday and pretty old account "yuritopoop" which I use for musical videos and so on. But I am not so active there, mostly I am in VKontakte ( https://vk.com/yurikompany ), posting there tracks without video and even reminders about unfinished works. Also periodically updating my catalog ( http://download.ccassault.com/projects.html ) which provides to download those solo works and remakes, and even rare tracks which were not uploaded or removed from social networks. I usually speak my native, it is easier than to translate and use both languages at the same time, but for titles of my recordings I prefer english words.

Motorized is one of my favorite tracks. So good to hear a new version of it! Keep up the creative work, we really appreciate your efforts!

Thank you for the commentary, will do the same with some melodies from C&C universe too, at least I did certain parts for Twin Cannon Remix and Bog. Cannot say, how long will it take to do those pieces of art again. Still need to find appropriate instruments from library of Frank Klepacki's synths or from my own library, sometimes I keep failing while composing remaked or inspired songs, and:

    Spoiler

I also plan to release second unofficial soundtrack for Unreal Tournament or use it in new games based on Unreal Engine.
