How can you possibly be unprepared for an investigation at this stage of the game?

Because I was planning on fighting in a double battle today, since that's a bit overdue, and I don't really care to win a Double Battle given the odds of helping Rocket or hurting Town.

I think there’s a risk that if a rocket wins the investigation the trainer will name a pokemon owned by a town player.

Possibly, honestly, it's one of those things that the GM could try balancing in any number of directions and it would still be fair to everyone.

That's why it's more important to focus on getting a second result than it is on actually figuring out what the first clue means at the moment.

It doesn't really matter who we send in. If we send in a Rocket, they have to win or lose one of their Pokemon. If we send in a Trainer, same deal. The investigation info is publicized. What isn't publicized is what benefits a player receives after winning one. I assume it's just an item and extra coin, same as a player v. player battle. @TheIrishman?

Except it does, you still want your own side to get the benefit of the investigations since that counts as a free nights worth of actions, just from winning the battle alone.

I'm willing to investigate route 30, since it's not too far into the game, so hopefully it won't be too difficult but I feel pretty confident regardless though with all the items I have.

Hugh, so far you haven't really given me enough information to form an opinion of your alignment this game, which gives me more reasons to distrust you than anything else at the moment.

  5. Frankly speaking thought, the mere fact that Category 5 is voluntarily revealing all of this information now is a bigger indication that he would be scum.

Although, things aren't much better for Jeod if he had a level advantage that he hasn't been using to actually help Town, by investigating....

Well, sorry guys. I just got called in to work AGAIN, so I won't be around to battle for about 4-5 hours.

You could probably win in the first turn, so you might prefer to just PM Orange your attack move and see if that'll end the match without any further input.

So then why did Cat5 nominate me? Still waiting for an answer.

To be fair, you already saw the odds for your Jolteon fighting against a Psyduck, so we're talking something like Killing_You having a 3% higher chance of winning.

But that's not the only thing to take into consideration.

While we still have time left until hammer, can we get a calculation breakdown of a Lv30 Jolteon w/ Thunder against a Lv30 Psyduck, vs. a Lv40 Sunflora against a Lv30 Psyduck?

Easily Sunflora, the only reason why it's not guaranteed is Psyduck is faster so it could beat Sunflora with a combination of luck and some extremely cheap tactics based on what moveset it could have.

It only works that way if the user is ghost type.  If any other type it just raises both attack and defense stat.  As such it's used on Snorlax a lot in competitive.

I was thinking maybe of making an off topic pokemon thread, where we can all talk about SG and other things without cluttering up this thread.  Good idea?

I'd assume we'd actually be on topic if there was something to actually be on topic about though.

Quick Sidenote: This move is pure evil. Basically, it does a little bit of damage to the caster, and then the target takes damage every turn for the rest of the match. Combined with Mean Look (which keeps the target from leaving, whether by running or swap out), this can be a real pain in the ass.

I had to comment because a friggin' Ghastly used those two on my Machop once, and I basically had to wait for him to die because I couldn't do anything else. It's gone down as my most hated Pokemon moment ever. Petty? Sure. I don't care, though, I was mad.

    Alright, back to the game.

It's a non-damaging stat changing move for non Ghost types though.

Agh... this is quite the conundrum. The only one who's had any active resistance to progressing the game is Shade, and I've already stated why I don't think he's scum. I'm not exactly sure what to look for in these kinds of setups apart from that.

If by progression you mean failing an investigation, and someone losing a pokemon over that...

Nevermind, I'd be 2 HP short of killing it if it's back to full health. And then I'd be OHKO myself. If there is someone who has better odds, great, although I'm not getting a super good read on TheIrishman, and I'd prefer not to send him.

    Massacre a Psyduck you say?

Yeah, he probably had multiple things happen to him Night 1 and mis-attributed the egg to me. My visit should have given him a different effect. I gave him a bonus that should have helped him make up for his loss on Night 1, or at least put him in better position than he would have been otherwise.

Despite the fact he was probably only trying to rush Route 34 because he would help himself out by likely getting some benefit from the Pokemon Daycare there, before anyone else could clear it...

It also makes more sense why he thinks I'm scum and was panicking just because I actually thought certain players might get bonuses for visiting different investigation locations, so it's also important who completes an investigation instead of it just being completed.

Well, if it was an egg, you should have had a much more clear reaction to it considering my interactions with Category 5 on Day 2 and Day 3. The soft communication was pretty easy to see for anyone who understood the references.

Good to know, it made more sense if Jeod had an egg in his inventory from game start all things considered, he's a bit obsessed with route 34 after all...

Huh, I thought the damage formula stayed the same throughout the games.

Yeah, it was a mismatch of stats, based on a pokemon being level 1, while it's actual stats were based on it's effort values earned.

So a Chansey would have the following stats.

    250 Hit Points
    5 Attack
    5 Defense
    105 Special
    50 Speed
