  1. Since launching the community we have been hearing several users voice their displeasure about how the user accounts, pms and forums from BHP have been retained.

To rectify this, we have consequentially deleted all of the normal member accounts, deleted all of the old pm's associated with those accounts and also deleted the old forums archive (which date back to the pre-BHP days).

The stats have been recounted, so that the post counts match up to the number of threads.

If any users have any more concerns, please feel free to pm either myself, danpaul88, TeamWolf or WallyWood about it.

    Your password safety

IP.Board stores passwords in a hashed format using a salt to increase the entropy of the hash. In practice this means that it was effectively impossible for us to read your password from the data we had. This also applies to any new passwords.

Regardless of that, we do strongly suggest people employ good password hygiene as a matter of course. This includes measures such as regularly changing your passwords, avoiding re-use of the same password across multiple places (especially anything sensitive such as bank accounts or email servers) and using a strong password which doesn't consist of common dictionary words or predictable sequences.

    Your private messages

We have no interest in your private messages, these remained private for the duration and have been erased alongside your accounts.

  2. I attended Global Games Jam last weekend at my old University. It's an event where we were challenged to make a game within 48 hours. During the event the organisers called me up for an interview, so here it is!

Also here is some footage from the game we managed to crank out (with a little help from TSR)!

  3. If that's so, how will the Allied battle fortress and Soviet Siege chopper work?

The Siege Chopper will deploy using Q, pretty straight forward really.

The Battle Fortress will have lots of turrets attached to it, a bit like how the Mammoth Mk II has multiple turrets. However, these turrets will change weapon when you get inside them with different infantry. It will be totally possible to make a Repair Fortress if you really want to. :p

  4. Will vetrancy be implemented as in the game where vehicles got a double shoot and explosions?

Which units from Yuri's Revenge will be in the game.

I think this may have been answered before but I didn't want to look through all 18 pages.

That type of veterancy is already implemented!

The Allies and Soviets will get all of their units from Yuri's Revenge.

  5. Been able to destroy ore could be cool, if you were about to lose a field or something you could fire a few rounds and blow up some crystals if they didn't stop you, could add some neat mechanics but I could see how it could also be exploitable.

With the new system, you could get an Ore Miner along with a few comrades and mine the enemy's ore fields so that their miner has to go further than usual. It's a legitimate tactic!

  6. I'm not an expert but Javelin is fire & forget, not wire guided, also I have never heard that it can't be used on aircraft. Doesnt't matter.

You're actually right. I don't know how wire-guided got into that list. Maybe because the GGI missile has a long, wire-like trail that appears from the back of the rocket. The Javelin in real life can fire a missile 500ft into the air, which should be enough to hit a Kirov Airship. :D

what are the current planes, erm, plans, for transport aircraft (other than Nighthawk)

We're going to have C-130 cargo planes that the ai will use to drop things, but other than that the only air transport that is currently planned is the Nighthawk.

  7. The Grand Cannon better not move. It was a base defense in RA2, why would it be anything else in AR?

By the way, fantabulous job so far. Any progress on the Kirov, even though it's not a release one candidate (Unfortunately)

The Grand Cannon will be massive and scary, just like in RA2. :p

We do have a Kirov model from one of our old acquired projects, but it's not ingame by any means. However, as a tester you should be able to see that we've made a contingency plan for the future by making the Soviet War factory big enough to support them. :p

  8. Something I've been itching to ask: Is there going to be a map where all bets are off and everyone gets all of their country bonuses? Just a specialty thing, not for every map.

Since the country system picks a country when the game starts, we could set a variable that makes the system pick an "all countries setting" for both teams on occasion.

  9.

    • Will the desolator insta kill infantry with its main gun?
    • Will the main gun do a good ammount of damage to tanks?
    • When it deploys will it insta kill infantry cought in the zone? or will it be a Dmg over time effect like tiberium but stronger?
    • Will the desolator do any building damage? perhaps be effective agiasnt the MCT?
    • Will the radation zone be effective agiasnt tanks as well?
    • I heard their will be a moon map, will desolators be there to? (We went to the moon to destroy Yuris HQ :p)
    • I heard you guys speaking about country bonuses as well, what will Iraq's be?
Ok thats all I can think of for now about my Boyz, but I have some gerneral questions about other stuff.
    • How will the terrioirst work?
    • Will crazy Ivan be able to flame a tank/player with lots of bombs and get it to ram an allied tank/building and make a big explosion? [in renegade servers this is agiant the rules :( ]
    • Are you guys gonna give ivan diffrent bomb attacks?
    • if so Will Ivan have a anti building bomb limit?
Thats all I can think of right now, the other stuff isnt exciting as the Desolator :D

Sorry I asked quite alot, Iv only been around here for a couple of mounths and missed all the buzz and weekly blogs :(

Here we go, answers! First concerning the Desolator.

    1. Nope. That'd be too overpowered for a shooter-type game.

    2. We'll balance it so it's satisfying to use.

    3. It'll be a damage-over-time type deal. It will probably do a fair bit of damage because it requires the Desolator to be stationary.

    4. We haven't decided whether the Desolator should damage buildings yet, but if he does he won't be particularly good against them.

    5. Not as good as vs infantry, but yeah, it'll be effective.

    6. If we make a moon map, yeah!

    7. The country bonus is that you get the Desolator. There weren't any other bonuses in RA2, so there won't be in AR.

    Then concerning the others.

    1. The terrorist will have the ability to run really fast, as well as a pistol and a bomb vest. You will have to click or push Q to detonate the bomb.

    2. No, because Ivan's bombs aren't setup to be like proximity mines. They are timed.

    3. Yes, he will have a small dynamite salvo and a large dynamite charge. Both will be timed and sticky.

    4. Yes. It is currently 2.

the tesla trooper charge the abillity the reload the tesla turrets? and hi Iraq and the firts version add the units specials the factions?

Tesla Troopers already charge the coils in the current test build.

Country units won't be in the first version, but we will patch them in later.
