I noticed why it happens, the IRC server loves to disconnect everyone or individuals sometimes, and when it drops the server bot out, it wont show up on the launcher anymore.

 

This happens even while the bot is there though. I have to stop it and start it again to get the server to show up.

 

The bot rejoins automatically but it doesn't resolve the launcher communication.

Just an FYI: The server once again fails to report server status to the launcher.

Yeah I am not a fan of changes that actually reduce the ability to perform teamwork. That's actually one of the reasons why I liked the stock renegade engineer/technician game mechanics. It encouraged teammates to work as a team. I liked the fact that the vehicle/building/infantry repair was all rolled into one unit. It was a necessary change in my opinion since one player can't control 100's of units like in the RTS.

A lot of players flowed from Renegade to APB back in 2005-2007 because it was so different. Renegade's team cooperation was most often forced as the maps were very small (except for a few) and on a lot of maps you have always just seen advance wars gameplay (whoever controlled the field usually won).

APB changes that with bigger maps and the "not everyone can repair vehicles anywhere for free".

The current public version of Reborn is playable, but the test-version lags like hell. Releasing that would be a downgrade, definitely not an upgrade to the game, sadly

We need to fix it first.

An important testing event was scheduled at the same time as this event, unfortunately.

Testers barely make up 5% of the playerbase, so that's not really a reason.

Maybe most of the people were preparing for holidays, exams? Or we didn't announce it on enough platforms?

 

Alternatively, why were some regulars missing? Bad start time for the event? Gameplay not liked enough?

I'd be interested in what everyone has to say.

Sounds good, and a direction level designs should actually take these days. That is side-objectives speciality per-map that makes maps unique, aside from unique terrain design that drags somewhat different gameplay (but that leaves the core game the same).
