Or you could dive deep into subanimation land, or attach the rotating antennas as a separate, attached vehicle part.

I'd be more than happy to release an open beta of the game if it was in a better state, but unfortunately it is not. Hell, everyone could be having fun even just playing alone in the server, because ALL of the maps are bot-filled with my latest AI upgrades and base attacking/repairing/C4 explosive setting mechanics.
Those bots also do most of the testing right now and produce a lot of balance feedback by just looking at them.I mean these are fun things, but at the same time you can also clearly see how really underdetailed the map is looking:

ECW has a few of your water points sorted out. Swimming animations for instance that are different when diving deep compared to being on the surface.

I wonder if it's possible to "sabotage" my own internet to get this effect? If it is then we'll have to come up with some countermeasures.
It's easier to kill moonwalking enemies than if their position updates normally. Damage calculation is client side, so if my client sees them where they actually aren't and I hit them on my screen, the server accepts it as valid.

I wonder if the shader effects can be applied on a plane in in front of the camera? That + the blueness fading in and out rather than being instant would help a lot already.

The chameleon spy right now is a stealth attack dog, but he should really actually be a spy.

Map-specific gameplay is what I fell in love with in Starcraft 2 WOT and I'm still planning to implement it into all of my maps. I'm very happy to see this approach in APB, even if just in a very few maps.
