We have absolutely no idea if the investigation results were insane or not. That has been just an assumption all this time. They could very easily all be accurate. KY lying about his role pretty much means he has to be scum. The hard part now is going to be trying to isolate who his teammate(s) is(are). Which will make the combatant selection very interesting this next day phase. One thing I'm interested in is how, despite all the duplicate pokemon we supposedly share, three of the four investigations marked a pokemon only one person claimed to have. Brigitte, would you be able to prove that you actually have a Scyther?

Huh. I was expecting a lot of "are you fucking crazy Cat5?" posts but instead it seems most of you think this is plausible. Hmm. I've decided I'd rather do the investigation anyway, however. I'm leaning towards my theory being too crazy to be true, so I'd rather get all the information. It's just a question of who should do it. Just in case, I don't think anyone who has been implicated by other results should be doing this, so no Jeod, Brigitte, or KY. I suppose I need to be included in that too since you guys can't know that the Scyther thing doesn't refer to me, so not me either. Retaliation, TheIrishman and Shade should be our candidates. I think I would favor Retaliation, unless we're worried that perhaps his investigation was inaccurate.

And also some mafia were hostile towards each other, but yeah. Fucking crazy.

And I'll remind everyone that this idea isn't unprecedented here. OrangeP47's introductory game here included a 50:50 town:mafia ratio in which most mafia were unaware of each other.

Following the line of "there are 4 scum and they don't know each other" if they are using investigations to find each other, doing the last investigations tells scum who their last member is and then means town is outnumbered and everyone knows it. I guess the one upside is that town (ME, specifically) would stop using their actions on scum...

I know I'm thinking about something so totally crazy as a game that has more mafia than town in it, but I'm unwilling to consider scum not knowing that they are scum.

Actually, forget it. If this 4-scum line of thought is actually accurate, they probably all know each other at this point. At the very least the fourth knows who the other three are. I'm not sure how plausible this whole thing is, but I'm definitely worried about it.

We may actually not want to do this last investigation.

And this would explain a problem I've been running into when considering that the scum team might be 3 people, because that suspected team was Jeod/Brigitte/KY. It wouldn't make sense if they were all teamed because KYs investigations implicated Jeod and Brigitte in the first place and both Jeod and Brigitte tried to stop KY from doing the second investigation. If they aren't linked and only find out that they are as a result of the investigations, this interaction now makes sense.

Going along with this, if scum don't know who is on their team, they need a way to find out who is. Which means they would be using the investigations to attempt to find each other. To make this possible, all the results would have to be accurate, whether a scum player does it or not.

Or...none of that will occur, and we'll just have to battle each phase. Anyway, I think the idea that there may be 3 or even 4 scum is even more likely in a game where scum would have to actually defeat every trainer. The idea that they aren't linked with each other now is also probably a good one and may have been hinted at by one of the other investigations.

Oh fuck, wait a minute! That could be huge! Mafia doesn't win on majority!

I suppose we could complete the last target and see who doesn't have a pokemon reported. At the moment that could potentially be just two people. I've been actively considering if the scum team is actually 3 people, however. The last investigation should either eliminate that possibility, or pretty much guarantee it.

You know, it's interesting you both mention D3 as opposed to N3. Is this perhaps not a night action, but instead a day action?

Why? Did you read that case I had against the two of you? This one particular issue was a minor piece of evidence that wasn't connected to anything else. Actually, the fact that it took you both so long to figure out that I could have had a Sandslash at that time suggests that you just took my contradictory report as true without doing any thinking about it.

I see what's going on there. I made an error. I thought I trained a different pokemon N2, but it was actually N3 that I did that. So I did have a Sandslash at the start of N3.
