  1. Now this is a development. This pretty much confirms to me that our suspected bote captain hellbent on nuking the US is in play. One thing irks me, though. You said that your night ability disables passives. Yet you also state that you managed to lower World Tension N1, and in your statement you seem to imply that you already used today's discussion to select your suspects when using your night action. Can you clarify what you did N1?
  2. You might as well explain your night action, then. Specifically the one used on Cat5.
  3. I'm going to refer back to the rubric I made earlier, and flesh it out a bit to account for dead players and recent information. Player Nationality Role Alignment Nodlied American ??? ??? Jeod American ??? ??? TheIrishman American Naval Officer ??? FRAYDO American ??? ??? ChopBam American ??? ??? Killing You Soviet (Russian) ??? Town Voe American John F Kennedy Town Category 5 American Robert Kennedy Town Shade Soviet (Russian) ??? ??? Retaliation Soviet ??? ??? Mojoman Canadian Naval Officer (?) ??? I've already presented my case on Retaliation. When he's not silent and attempting to stay in the shadows, he's inconsistent. I feel like he's one of the Soviet scum, perhaps even Fidel Castro. He's had a lot of time to defend himself, and has not done so. I think he's the prime candidate for today's lynch. Now here's where it gets interesting. This leaves both me and Shade as Soviet scum suspects. I'm not scum, nor do I think Shade is, either. Between his general transparency and open question of game mechanics, I'm reading him as more of a "newbie town" player. So, where does that leave us? Simple. Someone is lying about their nationality. So, let's look at the claimed Americans. Nodlied Mostly AFK due to IRL stuff, but when he's here, he's pretty helpful. Basically, his usual self, with nothing out of the ordinary. Jeod Has been mostly unhelpful, and in fact called out Irish for being a "tryhard." His softclaim is... interesting, if it's who I think it is. I don't know how it would fit into the setup. TheIrishman At the moment, I'm townreading him. He's been rather helpful, charts or no charts (yeah, I'm not using that meta argument :P). I understand his qualms about revealing his nationality, and for what it's worth I believe him. Then again, he may be being helpful only in such a way that it keeps me off the trail while not appearing scummy. I doubt it, but it's a possibility I need to keep in mind. FRAYDO Sort of an oddball. Mostly AFK, then comes to post a couple thoughts and leaves. As usual. Problem is, his line of thinking boils down to process of elimination without the process, at least none that he's presented. Then again, there have been a few times where he's called someone out as scum seemingly out of nowhere, only for said person to be discovered as scum later. ChopBam I really don't get why people are scumreading him. Might have to ISO his posts, but at the moment, I just don't see him as scum. So, who's the liar, who's the American scum, and who's town? I'm not sure. But I feel like we're headed in the right direction, at least.
  4. Alright I'll make this easy for you. Officially, my PM tells me that I'm Soviet. However, I know that my role is from Russia specifically, which is why I said Russian.
  5. Okay, so thanks for telling me your nationality. Irish and Retaliation are the only ones left to come forward. Irish has chosen to abstain and Retaliation has flat-out ignored my request. I don't think Jeod is Joseph McCarthy simply because McCarthy died five years before the missile crisis again. As far as ChopBam goes, was that due to process of elimination alone or is there actual evidence you have to present?
  6. I'm going to step in right here. I asked Irish for a list of scum suspects myself, since I wanted the possibilities laid out before me without allowing scum to find a town role to claim. So if him posting that list is your reason for suspicion, I'm partly to blame. Hold on there, cowboy. We don't even know the nationalities of Irish, Retaliation, or you, so we can't really make that sort of judgement yet. Also, why do you suspect Chopbam?
  7. Yeah, we could do that. Or we could, you know, not do that and instead work towards eliminating scum. Especially since, I don't know if this is important, but...
  8. ##vote Retaliation The fact that you admitted to targeting Cat5 was sketchy as is, and when questioned you seem to switch motivations on the fly. This is in addition to you being notably quiet and opaque so far. Plenty of day left for your defense, though, but at the moment you're suspect Alpha in my book.
  9. I think it's safe to say that scum have abilities that heighten WT.
  10. Out of everyone to check over something as simple as "second guessing," you chose Cat5. Was there really no one else you were scumreading D1? Or did you forgo checking your scumreads in favor of aforementioned "second guessing"?
  11. Because I'm Russian? I never denied being a Soviet, I simply stated that I am Russian. In fact, I listed myself and Shade as "Soviet (Russian)" since I'll likely be using "Soviet (Cuban)" later. It's not a "staunch claim," it's a simple clarification. I don't understand where this is coming from.
  12. It was a rough draft anyway. If you want to take that table and run with it, go ahead and do so. Mine was mostly based on my speculation of the setup mixed with Cat5's input, since I intend to cross reference the claimed roles and nationalities with everyone's behavior. Speaking of which, what nation are you from?
  13. Well shit. Kennedy's are dead and we're almost halfway to war. This is really bad. Also, thanks for the list Irish. Based on the setup and the info you've provided, I'd say that the most likely scumteam (going off of the established rubric) would be... Captain Savitsky, Fidel Castro, and General Curtis LeMay. I'll be able to dissect the players a little bit later to root out the suspects, but for now allow me to take a page from Irish's playbook and officially put this rubric together. Player Nationality Role Alignment Nodlied American ??? ??? Jeod American ??? ??? TheIrishman ??? ??? ??? FRAYDO ??? ??? ??? ChopBam American ??? ??? Killing_You Soviet (Russian) ??? Town Shade Soviet (Russian) ??? ??? Retaliation ??? ??? ??? Mojoman Canadian Naval Officer (?) ??? I want to start using this to map out the setup. I feel we may find our scum laying within. So, once again, I'd like to know everyone's nationality. I'll be fleshing this out and tweaking it as the game moves on.
  14. What the flux, people. Voe didn't even show up to play yet, let alone defend himself. Now, in my defense of my nationality argument, it did have a purpose (Aside from keeping anyone from going "Soviet=Scum"). I want to get an idea of who's from where and cross-reference that with other data that we either have or speculate on. Let's assume Cat5's proposed setup (3 scum, each with a different role) is the truth. I'd be willing to bet that we'd have 2 Soviets and an American scum. The Russian submarine captain, a different Soviet (most likely Cuban), and an American. This would be similar to the July Crisis Mafia in that there's town and scum on all sides of the conflict, pulling in different directions to reach a different goal. Fair enough. I think you should do so, but only post who you think scum could be. My goal is to build a rubric that can assist us in dissecting the setup and rooting out the scum.
  15. The heck is that supposed to mean? Is that a socialism joke? It's a very high likelihood. In fact, if Cat5's math is correct, that would be our Naval Officer Warmonger. Going off of that, after a bit of research, it turns out that the Canadian navy assisted the US in keeping an eye out for submarines. These two factors may clear Mojo in a meta sense, though we'd be wise to not sign off anyone just yet. I'm honestly having a hard time choosing my D1 vote. The closest I have to people pinging my RADAR are Retaliation and Irish, since they just kind of posted and left. Particularly in Irish's case, I tend to expect more from him, especially since he was posting fluff in the midst of somewhat productive conversation. The only thing other than fluff that he's posted was him pinging people who hadn't posted yet. ##vote TheIrishMan
  16. Well, that was out of left field. Care to explain, or are you just trying to spark discussion?
  17. No worries, you missed the last Crisis mafia so you probably don't understand where I'm coming from. Also hello fellow Soviet (I said Russian because my role is indeed Russian specifically). In the last game, it was mostly Serbians, Austro-Hungarians, and Bosnians, with a "special role" thrown in. We initially debated whether or not which nationality was town and which was scum, but in the end we had town and scum from all countries. Until proven otherwise, I'm assuming that this game is a similar case.
  18. I agree mostly with the above. I'm just preemptively avoiding the "Russian = Mafia" argument that would've likely cropped up.
  19. As it turns out, I am not Superman, but in fact The Flash! After rapidly healing from the wound, My super speed activates, and I pull you out of the way out of the car. But, right before I speed away, I'm hit with a mysterious dart. I fall to the ground, unconscious, and a group of masked men pull me into a van. You recognize the Umbrella logo on the van, and know that I am in danger!
  20. Alright, I think we should get our nationalities out in the open in the interest of transparency. Just like the last Crisis Mafia, this isn't about country vs country, so Mr. Hoover up there can throw that line of thinking out the window. So yeah, in case it isn't obvious enough, I'm Russian.
  21. It definitely doesn't seem as complex as that game, and since this seems to more or less follow the typical Mafia format, so unlike that game we can't just investigate the most "generally suspicious" players with no harm/no foul.
