  2. Welcome to this week's blog. Sorry it's late but my sleeping pattern has been royally screwed this past week. Anyway, here's what we have this week. <h3>Soviet Barracks</h3> dtrngd has completed the basic room layout for the Soviet Barracks. It is a little bigger than the allied barracks, so he has made an extra route within the building to connect more rooms and allow for more ways to get to a certain area. The Soviet Barracks sees the return of the kitchen, but this time in a cafeteria/soviet bread line theme to account for the harsher conditions that the soviets endure. I could give you pictures but they would be too confusing, so I have a video prepared. It will be going up on youtube later along with some older videos. But here's the direct link for now. >>>Click Here for Video<<< <h3>Allied Barracks</h3> TheBeerinator has started on optimising and texturing the Allied Barracks. He managed to shave nearly 10,000 polygons off of the model through deleting hidden faces and vertices that aren't shown. This means that it looks nearly the same inside and it's less stress on your computer. Good eh? There are still a few things he took out that he needs to put back though. Anyway, he will start texturing fairly soon and I bet you guys are anxious to see how it turns out. I know I am. Screenshots coming soon! <h3>Red Alert 3 UK Launch</h3> I got onto the train to london and sat down, eager to get there. I texted [FW]Wolf about various things like where we were meeting and stuff. My train pulled into Euston so I got off and instantly became lost. I grabbed my google map that I had printed out previously and tried to find a landmark, which I did. I then headed off down Gower Street, making a beeline for Trafalgar Square. There were a lot of people selling the big issue. I got a call from Wolf, he was in the area next to me, so I arranged to meet up at the National Gallery, overlooking the square. I met up with him and his mate and we travelled down to the EA Battledome, talking about C&C and his w3d mod, Battle For Dune. We got to the entrance and some guy asked us if we were with EA. I was so tempted to say yes, but didn't. Although we did hand him a BHP flyer. This is what the battledome looked like. We then went into the dome itself. We were asked outside if we were press, so we held up our leaflets proudly and convinced them we were. The battledome was epic. They had a lot of Dell XPS computers with the game running as well as Xbox 360s. Wolf and I handed out dozens of flyers which was cool. We found some guys with Nod T-shirts and said "Peace Through Power Brothers" proudly. We felt accepted as C&C fans. I usually get funny looks when I recite the "In the name of Kane" speech at university, but that's another story. We then found Greg Black and had a chat to him about the game and such. We congratulated him on such a successful beta and talked to him about our projects. He was suprised that we were still modding Renegade after all this time. All I can say is what's to be suprised about? Amrite Renegaders? We gave him some flyers and got a picture with him! We made our way to the front and Battlecast Primetime started! It was so awesome actually watching it live. It was one of the best things that I have done in a while. Me and Wolf kept yelling "Foundries!" at Raj Joshi when the crowd was cued to cheer. Here are some of the images from the big screen. I found this one funny. Gemma Atkinson was then called up onto the stage and was interviewed. She is rather hawt. We then moved to the back of the room to try and get on camera. The producer, Neel, came round and started asking people if they wanted to commentate on the match, so I volounteered. I went round to where Raj was and was standing by these guys who didn't even know the game at all. It was laughable. The focus was put on us and I held up one of the flyers with Wolf waving one behind me. I was then asked to commentate on what was happening in the match going on between Shaun "Apollo" Clark and some russian dude, so I thought up something on the spot based on what I had done in the RA3 beta. It was really epic being on the show and I still can't believe I was there. I got a quick photo with Raj after before he ran back up to the stage. The match was cut due to a technical glitch, but the show still rocked. It was awesome being there live. We then caught up with Raj and David after the show and got some pictures. They couldn't believe how cold it was over here since they are used to California. Dave and Raj are both really nice down-to-earth guys and it was great to see them out of their on-camera personas. Wolf even got the front page of the script signed by Dave and a flyer signed by Raj with the word "Foundries" on it. Here are the pictures. After the event, we walked back to Euston station all excited about the event that had just unfolded. It was amazing. We grabbed a drink at the bar (not cheap) and chatted away about the event, more C&C and the state of w3d modding in this day and age. We got a picture just before I went to catch my train. All in all, an epic night out! Check out the full video here. I appear at around the 1.04 mark. <h3>Team Messages</h3> I'm off back home tommorrow. Hopefully my new motherboard will be there! I haven't seen cfehunter in ages, so I don't know what's going on with him. dtrngd and TheBeerinator have been battling it out over the barracks optimisation and stuff. Chevy787 is busy with school.   3. Boris uses an AKM. He was fairly lethal against tanks but since he isn't going to be in AR for a while, we haven't begun to plan for him. He does need to be pretty powerful if there is only one of him on the field at once.
  4. It has four side that are exactly the same, but unless you want to use elevators, then we are only using two of them as doors.
  5. Hehe, you'll see. The AR soviet barracks will have 2 doors for gameplay reasons. I'll reveal why soon enough.
  6. YES IT WAS 1. Yes it will be the GI 2. No the final shot won't look like that. We'll change it to fit RA2.
  7. I think you need to wait til you get a release to play with before you make these judgements Kalle Bowo is German and likes Tiberium series games. So I doubt he'll be there.
  8. Welcome to this week's blog! I've really been busy with my course assignments and stuff, but I'll never let you guys go without. So read below for the goodies! <h3>Allied Barracks Video</h3> dtrngd has made up an allied barracks walkthrough video now that it has been completed! This video contains a runaround and some combat inside and outside of the structure whilst being set to some very outlandish music. Cover your ears (or mute your sound) if it's not your cup of tea. >>Video Here<< There is also a bonus video hidden somewhere in the blog. Try to find it! <h3>Test Build Advances</h3> danpaul88 has been playing around with the latest AR test build to add some stuff for a new test release. Mainly, this consists of minor base defences and hopefully the new Allied Barracks. In his quest to bring AR closer to release, he has encountered a few problems (which have been fixed now) that were rather funny. Here's an example. The Allies would never get past the might of the Soviet's Super Sentry Gun! To take a ride back to the more serious side, the sentry gun is now operational and available at a Soviet test base near you! <h3>AR Logo</h3> I have begun to refine the AR logo into something that more closely resembles the Red Alert 2 logo, rather than a mish mash of the RA2 and Yuri's Revenge logos. I have begun by playing with the colours of the text, but will probably end up adding some new material textures to the main shield plate. This is what I have so far... ...but it will probabably end up looking a lot like this. <h3>Team Messages</h3> I'm heading off to London, Trafalgar Square, to join in on the festivities for the Red Alert 3 Launch Party! That's right, I'll be handing out APB/AR flyers to the general public and generally plugging the mod. So watch out for any BHP logos that may appear during Battlecast Primetime as it is filmed live. Also look out for a guy with lots of hair and a Nod t-shirt (that'll be me ). cfehunter is not up to much at the moment since he is on half term (I think). Apologies to danpaul88 for calling script failure on the IFV in the last blog when it was just be being a tit and not updating Congratulations to dtrngd for completing the barracks modelwise! TheBeerinator will be texturing the barracks shortly, after he is finished with the flak cannon. Happy birthday to tester Allie29!   9. What? Tech structures aren't slated as definitely in for the first release but we are going to try and get a couple in. I'll be updating the website with unit and structure information when I get time. I've said this time and time again, the first release only goes as far as radar tech, so you won't be seeing Kirovs for a while. However check out the RA2 Vengeance videos from the previous blogs for some cool Kirov stuff. Bah, I guess I missed that one >_< You did! Just wait until I play with my HUD on!!!

  14. Welcome to this week's blog! I have been writing these for two years now, can you believe it? Anyway, since I was short on time today I haven't had chance to do what I wanted to do, so I'll put some of the blog up, then put the rest up on the weekend or something. <h3>Alpha Walkthrough Video</h3> This is what you've been waiting for folks! Anyway, here's the pillbox for now! <h3>Zion</h3> Zion has made the decision to leave the team after accompanying us for as long as I can remember. We all wish him well for the future and give him a respectable send off. Thanks for working with us for these years.   19. Hey there guys, welcome to blog 103! <h3>Allied Pillbox</h3> TheBeerinator has just about completed texturisation on the allied pillbox. This is all pretty self explanatory, so here's the images. <h3>Allied Barracks Interior</h3> dtrngd has been hard at work on the Allied Barracks interior. He has added cool details such as air vents, warning sirens and pictures of respected Allied leaders. Here are the latest update shots. This interior is near completion! <h3>Soviet Tesla Reactor Interior</h3> I have been working on the Soviet Tesla Reactor's interior and have begun to decorate the walls and add props. This includes workstations, railings, pipes vents and other things. I have hit a snag currently though, since I worked on it in university and brought it back to halls. Then I realised that I don't actually have 3ds Max 2009 installed on my computer, since I have simply opted for 3ds Max 9. However, with some help from TheBeerinator, I managed to bring you this render. <h3>Team Notices</h3> I'm going home at the weekend to get my new PC built. I'll post my exact specs up for you guys when I get chance cfehunter is coming out for a drink with me and some friends on friday so we can catch up on stuff that's been happening dtrngd is dissapointed that he hasn't completed the interior to the Allied Barracks yet, but he is hoping that you guys are appreciating the work he is putting in to get it done.   21. That's as big as the interier will get. There will be fake doors added to make it look bigger.
  22. If the C4 is planted, it gives you time to move around a bit before the switch is triggered and the Soviets are alerted, possibly to plant multiple charges on multiple buildings and set the timers both off, giving the soviets a choice on which building to run to.
