AZ-Stalker
Neat little blimp detail. Although, the characters kind of look like zombies!

Popular Post Squid Empire
First new one of 2016! I'll go back and archive all the 2015 ones soon. It's my engineer from team fortress 2! This is pretty much a straight trace, but I enjoyed it because I didn't have to focus on shapes and anatomy and could instead have some fun/practise with colours and shading
moonsense715
Nice work with that Team Fortress 2 Engineer!
Squid Empire
So here we can see that that sort of tracing as practise can hopefully pay off. This is one is from scratch using the same techniques as the above. If anyone thinks this guy looks familiar he's one of my troops from the old 'make your own c&c faction' thread back on BHP Also I still do requests if you've got them, it's been pretty quiet here for a while...
devilslayersbane
Hey SE! Long time, no chat. Could you Pixelart my avatar? I also have another request that may take more time if you're interested.
Squid Empire
Sure, I'll give it a go. What did you have in mind?
devilslayersbane
So, it'd be essentially a group of allied soldiers taking cover behind steel/metal debris while a hind puts a volley of 12.7mm on their position. 3-4ish men, one looking to fire a redeye at the hind. Urban or semi-urban environment if possible Edited January 7, 2016 by devilslayersbane

Urban or semi-urban environment if possible This is going to be tough, but I'll give it a shot. In the meantime I did an animation! First one I've done in almost forever and I haven't gotten any better in the interim, but I still think it came out okay!
moonsense715
Reminds me of the RA2 Soviet Ore Refinery Nice animation!

AZ-Stalker
Wow! Great work on the pixel animation, looks fantastic in its simplistic glory! The detailed cliffside really stands out with it's shading and whatnot.
Squid Empire
My attempt at a more game-like isometric character. I didn't quite pull off the isometric right, but I still like how it looks!

Squid Empire
Attempt 2 at isometric, I got the tiling to work and I think the character looks better too. Still not perfect, and this is just a test picture but it's coming along!

Squid Empire
It's been a while, here's what I've done in the interim: I returned to Rapture again, this time I did a piece from inside a crumbling tunnel. I spent a lot of time on the background details on this one, and then ended up covering it all up in glass and so on... I haven't stopped experimenting with isometric formats either. Here's a tired coal miner. I want to do more portraits but I always have trouble thinking of ideas for interesting people to draw. And this one's a small farm. Again isometric, and this time working on using a simple, bright pallet to try a cleaner style.
Squid Empire
It's been a while again: time for some new pictures! First of all I went pretty deep into the isometric practice. I'm finally at a point where I'm confident with isometric images, and am having much more fun with them now. Here's some nice trees A Queenslander style house (traditional where I live) with some guntrees A space rocket launch pad inspired by the movie Gattaca I also did a lot of practice with characters: Buck Rodgers and Wilma Deering from Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century A street thug Some experimentally styled space dudes As always thanks for looking! (Any feedback is appreciated and I still sometimes take requests if you have ideas)
Nodlied
The isometric images remind me of OpenTTD. And that's a good thing.
