  1. I've been taking the advice into account, and I've done some renovation to two of the domes, one into a computer center and the other into a bit of a chemistry lab. I've changed a good amount of the textures, to make it feel more like a clean, clinical lab. Still debating what to do with the last dome. I was thinking some sort of sciency radar... gizmo, maybe iron-curtainy, or a prison block area. Could potentially do both, for different purposes. The building looks more sciency at any rate. (It's hard to fill buildings with stuff, especially if you have to make it all.)

  2. I'm still new when it comes to this sort of thing so any editing or pacing or whatever feedback is welcome.

  3. Yeah, I did think some of the textures were too tiled. I'll probably end up re-texturing and using different, less obviously tiled textures, as well as bumping up the vertex count for the large, flat polygons. I've made a couple of "new" textures that match the colours of the building from the render, and I've remodelled the domes, so they're actual polygon domes. The main issue is props, as there's not that many "sciencey" props in APB. Hell, there's not that many props as is. I'll see what I can do, though. Put a quick snap of the "renovated" exterior with the new domes. (I still need to subdivide the mesh for better lighting...)

  4. Here is a lazily done C-130 (I decided to make the wing and body separate to make my life easier!). It is not very accurate, but will do for an RTS.

  5. [blurb]Coming soon to a RA:APB near you! Introducing the Yakovlev Yak-9P![/blurb] [thumb]thumb_apb.7.png[/thumb] Red Alert: A Path Beyond Dev. Blog Yakovlev Yak-9P Set to debut on Guard Duty, the Yak will afford the Soviets an incredible alpha-strike in their arty-hunting efforts. The Yak can reach speeds of up to 45m/s (the next fastest unit being the Longbow at a mere 24m/s) and expend its magazine in a minimum of 1.33 seconds. The Yak boasts infinite ammo but with a long reload time, although that shouldn't matter much as once you've expended your magazine you're turning around for your next attack. It's splash damage ignites infantry, better allowing your comrades to finish the task should your target remain alive. While mostly effective against infantry and light vehicles, the Yak can still find opportunities in armour-broken heavy vehicles that are on the retreat. As in Red Alert, the Yak will cost 800. With a health of 350 and lack of armour, be advised that your attack runs will leave you vulnerable to return fire. Choose your battles wisely and you can stay airborne for long periods and dish out more punishment than a Hind can. Unlike the Hind however, in the event you are shot down your infantry will also die in the crash. Airfield It goes without saying that the Airfield will also be included as a new structure. Purchased Yaks will fly onto the strip waiting for takeoff, and here you repair and can sell your Yak. It should be noted that the Airfield is technically a "Helipad" in the code, making it unlikely to see both buildings on the same map. Nonetheless, we can discuss how to fit the Airfield and Yak into high-tech maps and implementing them in the future.[thumb]thumb_apb.7.png[/thumb]

  6. In-game if you type !help you'll find a list of commands and !tagme is one of them, but if you try to use it you get the following error: "[APB] You are not allowed to use this command." Please make it so we can tag ourselves. If we can pick our name and create a setjoin, we should be able to tag ourselves. Plus, this would mean we wouldn't have to hassle mods in-game for this.

  7. Looking great! I'm all for an objective map with the Soviets on the defensive. If the building is to be considered a prison as it was in TD, the Soviets could have captured Einstein and the Allies must break him free before he dies. If the building is to be considered a true tech centre, the Soviets are conducting their Iron Curtain research and must hold out for its completion while the Allies assault the base. A neat ending to this too would be at the end of the mission timer if the Soviets are successful in defending then the Soviets are given like 15 seconds of Iron Curtain at the end, playing out as an interactive cinematic such as when Seamist ends in Allied victory.

  8. Watching the sniper headshots is so satisfying. Maybe refine the parts where you're just sitting and waiting. Or even the mediocre parts where you're missing. Skip to the good stuff! Maybe when you speed up clips you could speed them up even further as people will get the point. These tips will make for a shorter and more concise video that focuses on the great parts. Still, good stuff and I love forg too.

  11. Well then! The games have ended. Scum had won, I died. All in all, a fun experience. I did my best to share the best aspects of our community - lurking, lack of reason, idiotic arguments, lynching townies, jumping on scum wagons, triggering people, throwing games, fucking up the town. I hope I made you proud!

  12. Development of the Asterisk Connect tool is making some progress again. I've finished up several things that have been in the pipe for too long and now I'm moving on to other parts finally. It will get finished......one day. Progress can be followed here: https://w3dhub.com/forum/topic/416129-updatedw3d-asterisk-connect-tool-beta/

  13. You said he's running windows 7 right? If thats the case, then he can get 90% up to date all in one go by downloading the appropriate package here. Its like a service pack, but not quite, and it contains many many updates that would have to otherwise be downloaded through the buggy update system. This is hours (possibly days) quicker than letting windows update do its "thing" and is ideal for slow connections, as long as it doesn't drop out a lot. Let us know if we can help in any other way!
