  1. Hey, So i was wondering if anyone can offer a quick answer to the following questions. I'm pretty good in Gimp and have been using it for a while for things unrelated to texturing. I was wondering though, if i've got a premade texture from a photograph or the web; whats the best way of applying that to a UVW Unwrap in Gimp. Would you make it into a pattern that you could then "paste" into the relvant model parts. If anyone knows any good tutorials on texutring in gimp that would be great
  2. Hey AircraftKiller Thanks for the information. Yeah I tried modelling it with less segments and it looked like you said, a rotating hexagon. I'm using 3ds 2008 for this as I'm working with W3D, hopefully you're technique works with this version too... Also, I have been using a reference image, it's just hidden at the moment. The tank I'm making is going to be unique to the universe I'm conjuring so it's not supposed to be an exact replication of a real life tank. Thanks a lot for your help. PS. Nice truck!
  3. Thanks guys. Yes racks maybe if you can upload a picture that explains what you mean! Cheers!
  4. Hey All, I've been building a tank on 3ds... it's my first attempt so before you say it, yes i know it sucks (looking at you AircraftKiller) I did a poly count and it says like over 19,000 and i'm not even finished... It appears that the wheels are the perpetrators each containing around 1000 polys... How can i remedy this?
  5. Thanks for clarifying, still not sure why that would take any longer than a few minutes though? Thought it was an issue with the launcher so i re-installed it and it's decided to repair my whole .NET library again... O_o looks like i'm going to be here all day...........
  6. Hey, APB looks like it needs an update for patch 2.1.4.4 but the W3D hub launcher hangs for AGES trying to download/install it. It's the installing of it which seems to take the time... it's unpacking under 1 MB so i have no idea why it's just hanging:
  7. - deleted the tank armored civilian Oh man I enjoyed that
  8. Sounds good! Let me know if you need to borrow a van, my company has lots
  9. Lol that's awesome squid... What software do you use? If you say ms paint I'll come and personally high five you wherever you are. if not, well done anyway, your art is amazing. Just read your blurb and it's nice to see someone else interested in retro-futurism. There's something about it that captures the imagination. Those 1950s sci fi movies, and their idea of the future is fascinating.
  10. Brilliant. I've been getting an urge to play the missions!! Gonna download this!
  11. There's a lot of people on TSR at the moment, which I do love playing and have played it last week pretty solidly, but I was wondering if anyone wanted a game of APB tomorrow? I'm GMT: 0 and I'm cool to play anytime that suits... Be good to get a nice amount of people on
  12. i'll do another thread when they've released it with link etc!!
  13. Yes! I like playing at a pretty fast pace tbh... Waiting 1.5 minutes for your ore refinery is not fun
  14. Good man!!!!! Thanks a lot! Just watched the video again... for an engine that's over ten years old, that water looks pretty damn fine.
  15. I have OpenRA and it is good, but I do prefer the original! We should arrange a game some time!
  16. Thanks buddy! I'll send you a voodoo London t shirt once I'm done with them
  17. Well that's three people! One more and we've got ourself a classic 4 player hoe down!
  18. wish it was based on the first tiberium war but it was really good nonetheless. Love the fact you've used Lego and I'll definitely be checking out the next one
  19. Tbh there's quite a few mapping tutorials out there at the moment. That's one thing I did manage pretty much on my own from the content on the net. It would be nice to have one from the W3D staff though... And most of the ones I found are for GMAX and don't translate directly to 3ds, which was a pain for retards like me in the beginning.
  20. not much chance of that... i'm not very good
  21. Lol... I actually struggle with CSS. I've built an E-Commerce platform from scratch in PHP/SQL, including admin control panel and the part i struggled most with... CSS & HTML... I just can't get my head round them!! If anyone's interested it's: www.voodoolondon.co.uk (the name of my new clothing line) Just waiting to actually upload pictures of the t-shirts and set the prices etc... (what you see there already are just place holders)
