  1. Cart before the horse. Streamers help maintain popularity. They generally do not create popularity on their own, as the stream has to have exciting content to draw viewers to play along. The streamer would likely have to be willing to dedicate time to do PR for his own events to draw enough players to make his own stream worth his time. A random streamer is not going to do this for the fun of it, and that makes the idea quite a difficult pitch. Streamers typically choose what kind of games they want to play on their own, especially ones with significant followings to maintain. To get a streamer to cover our games, we'd have to have something attractive enough to draw a streamer to want to cover it on his own. I maintain that the majority of players who would like to play W3D games, have already done so. There isn't much out there for the PR team to grab. Our best streamer candidate would be someone who was already familiar with W3D and happened to also stream games. However, can such a streamer really gain enough traction to get attention outside of the W3D playerbase itself? I don't know. And then let's say that everything lines up and a streamer starts covering our games. That's actually a problem for the game itself, and it gets worse the more popular it is. Heard the term "Stream-sniping" before? There would be a natural draw for players in the game to get "screen time" and opposing players can do that best by attacking and killing the streamer, who is literally broadcasting everything he sees and does. His presence can hurt the team he's playing on. This can also apply to players on the same team, who may do various different things that hurt the team while trying to wind up as a highlight on the stream, such as deliberate team hampering, or simply too willing to get on camera to actually pay attention to what's going on in the game. Wooing streamers isn't the answer for PR, not on it's own.
  2. I've been doing my part! Kind of! Sorta. I mean, I'm advertising in a racing simulation environment, so I imagine I've drawn literally 0 people to look in to an arcadey FPS/RTS game...but hey, it's there. Honestly, I imagine the only kind of market where we could really stand to see a lot of new lasting members come from, would be to advertise in an area where other free games are advertised. Basically, push for people too cheap to pay for games who have never heard of us before and won't/can't buy newer options. We have had big PR campaigns before. Magazine mentions. Online articles. A presence in a German games convention. ModDB GOTY competitions. Those were a decade ago. There's next to no chance that any W3D project will be able to gain any kind of mainstream attention for any sustained length of time. A new release of a new project? Sure. That'll work for a little while, a la TSR. But at this point, it's effectively a game we've all been playing for ~15 years, and the large majority of people who would play this game, already have and moved on. The most recent version of the game I played would easily qualify as my favorite version, but even that isn't keeping me interested like it did during the .9935-.994-Beta eras. The only thing that will bring attention back is something game-changing. And I can't think of anything plausible like that. Can you?
  3. 100% Allied victory. You guys disappoint.
  4. Well, it was a both a setup to make sure you didn't investigate me, and also sound advice. You did get false results twice, afterall. It is generally accepted mafia meta that if you are a cop, you should investigate yourself first, because you could otherwise spend the entire game misleading yourself.
  5. I'm sure it was easy to believe that the ghosts were the ones doing the kills. Afterall, 2/3rds of you came out of the gate hostile towards us. Hell, I was concerned about getting targeted and seriously considered protecting myself rather than making a kill on the first night after you appeared.
  6. You were amazing this game. You picked up scum or 3rd party with all of your interrogations, stopping potential night kills 4 times. You stopped iLTS from getting a potential extra kill (though it would not have happened anyway), then stopped OWA from gettiing a kill when he was supposed to (though he forgot to send it in anyway), stopped Mojoman from doing a kill (even though he didn't actually order one), and then stopped me from doing so (even though I canceled my night kill for a number of reasons.) Seriously. That's amazing. And an incredible waste. You stopped 4 potential killers, all of whom would have failed to kill anyway, and then by sheer coincidence, correctly labeled all but me as scum. I think you just wasted all your mafia luck for the rest of your life in one game.
  7. But seriously, town rocked this game. We were also terribly, terribly, lucky, as even when we were right about scum, we were actually just getting the right answer by coincidence (see OWA lynch, night kill wasn't stopped, it was actually not sent) And believe it or not, I did not request the Mine Layer role. I was first told about the game just as I was going to bed, and the game was to start before I woke up. I just told VERTi to assign me a role. Then, when the "second phase" started, I was given the option to insta-end the game. I'm sorry. Frankly, that's what I wanted to do, but I could see VERT's desire to have the game continue as it was over absurdly early, so I accepted on the condition that the game would be considered a town win regardless of what happens. (He may have been planning that in the first place, I have no idea, but I wanted to be sure)
  8. I'm not sure how often I'm allowed to use this. My night action has a clearly defined use limit, but my day action does not. No better way to find out but try, I guess. I feel like things are going to get real stupid real quick, so I'm going to try again while I wait for either Voe or triattack to respond. ##MINEFIELD Category5
  9. You've been being very careful to not explain anything you've done over the last few days, since the "blood moon". The ghosts we have appear to be neutral, and based on the rules, if it was just us and them, the game should end. (I am still considering another option where we have to stop Chaos and then the game will end, but I guess we'll see) I actually think the game isn't ending because someone who remains has actually changed alignment. I think the attack of FRAYDO should verify this, as he could check alignment. He never proved to have a weapon. Why would the ghosts care? I've been frustrated as I've been expecting to be attacked almost every night given that I have a role that can stop kills, yet nobody comes for me. My catch phrase has been kept locked away, waiting for me to net my first kill. Meanwhile, FRAYDO marks you Allied, and you claim to gain a new enhanced protection role, and you don't get attacked either. I told FRAYDO to check himself to verify his sanity and he dies that night. The ghosts are happy to target you during the day, but why aren't you targeted at night? Frankly, it's starting to add up. I can understand not attacking me as I've said openly that I can defend myself, but neither of us? That said, this all sounds shaky, even to me, so I'm not about to follow a ghost-team-led train just yet. I want to hear what you have to say. I have reason to suspect triattack as well, but yours has more foundation.
  10. Who have you been protecting, Voe? Between you and me, we should have stopped these guys at least once.
  11. But GeneralCamo is still in the game. What the hell is triattack doing anyway?
  12. Is this even winnable? I'm going to be pretty bummed if this town win turns into a unstoppable ghost curb stomp. I have to say, though, Chaos_Knight's apparent role and the flavor reactions were quite amusing.
  13. Yeah, I don't feel like taking chances here. ##vote Chaos_Knight
  14. FRAYDO never actually demonstrated having a gun, did he? I find him to be an odd target.
  15. I think we should hammer as quick as we can before Chaos can decide on a target. Do you agree? I probably should have chosen a different target since you fired right before I placed my action.
  16. ##MINEFIELD Nodlied He's just blocked right? Or is he actually gone for now?
  17. Well, we have to figure out how to get it over with. My role didn't really change other than that I've been given more uses, so I'm guessing night kills might resume. I might be able to stop them during the night and then whatever new actions you guys have should also help us.
  18. I have seen a role like the one he's claiming to be, and yes, the number of phases would likely have been preset in his role description. I don't think this is the case, however. I believe Gencam is part of whatever this bonus game is supposed to be.
  19. Well, one reason would be because it's already been established that he cannot be Allied, as the game would have ended earlier if he was. Second, he also did as I suggested and interrogated me, which would have been plenty risky given that I've claimed to be a bodyguard that can choose to defend himself from any Allied player, and then he'd still have to kill me. However, this means something must have changed. Either Voe's alignment has changed (again, why risk visiting me if it had), or your role's sanity has, or you have gained an incentive to make a false claim. You should do as I long suggested and investigate yourself to verify your sanity. Your result won't carry any weight with me until you do. I said before I was going to verify my role, so I'm going to do that now. Since I'm slightly suspicious that you'e intentionally making a false claim and Voe can't be Allied, I'm going to make attacking Voe a bit more risky for you. ##MINEFIELD Voe Also, clearly Gencam is pulling a stunt to remove the player most threatening to him. These...whatever they are...must be our new opponent. His role has changed. MCTs can't shoot. He's already lying about his new role, so why believe anything else he has to say? Similar to the "4 scum" impossibility, if I was a cult leader (a Mine Layer cult leader? Seriously? What do I have, magic alignment changing mines?) this game would also be over as I would have gathered enough cult members by now. iLTS and Gencam both know who their enemies are. It's all of us who are alive. Don't know about Chaos. My inclination is to not trust him, but I'm willing to see what happens if he's the last "undead" left. The goal of this extended game is to test us and see if we trust each other enough to survive this trial intact. Let's see what we have to do to remove these...whatever they are. I imagine a lynch won't work, but we don't have other options. ##vote iLikeToSnipe Actually, I'm going to unvote to make sure this doesn't hammer too soon. There is clearly something screwy going on. ##unvote iLikeToSnipe
  20. I'm a Mine Layer, of course. I'm the bodyguard role iLTS pretended to be (indeed, the role list wasn't actually the only reason why I wanted him lynched. It was a quiet counter-claim). I lay a mine at a target and the first Allied player to go there is killed. It isn't unlimited use, so I've either used it to defend myself or done nothing each night. Unfortunately I missed the one night I was targeted. Assuming this night isn't a fake, which I'm pretty sure it is as it would be complete madness to have four scum, feel free to check my role. My mine laying is supposedly unblockable via being resolved first, so it shouldn't matter if you roleblock me. I can then verify I'm not an allied spy by using the role during the day. During the day I can place mines infront of someone to give a 50% chance of killing any attacker on the protected player (also 50% jamming chance).
  21. Ha! I'm not buying this. I've seen this stunt before. Actually, it happened in the last game I played, when town did too well. Gave Hylius(allie29) and me fits. Give us the real ending.
  22. triattack, in what possible world did you think you might get attacked last night? Quite frankly, if all of us were town and there were "offmap" scum picking from all of us, I'd consider you to be the least likely attack target. However, I now realize that you meant something different than I was talking about when I said I had info pulled from me. You might have had a notification from FRAYDO checking you. Seems odd that a cop would leave a notification to the target...but it matches up, at least. I'm more trusting of you now than I was during the night. This basically just leaves Mojoman as the sole suspect. If we're wrong here, we'll have to question basically everything we know once again. Mojoman, can you further explain what you were on about when you claimed that Nodlied should know he had something done to him?
  23. Oh, I didn't catch that. Well, I guess that means he probably can't shoot you.
