I love my job, but I'm only making about half as much as you do, and there are days when I don't enjoy it (Like yesterday, I had to set up a jBoss server to match a clients deployment, half their ini files had java's location hard coded and the rest were using java home, that mess took forever to get to even print out an error message much less work). But on good days I get my work done fast and spend my free time working on personal projects.

They put him on moderation at some point. Sorry to see you go man.

Its hard enough to keep this stuff straight without them just swapping Taurus and Capricorn lol.
-
Gemini (May 21st) I have seen some of them state that this is Taurus to, but the one on google is saying Gemini so we'll go with that.
-
Same, and I don't remember it as being a very positive something either...

Today I added strafing, jumping, and aiming tilt animations, I still need to do damage, death, loiter, and ladder animations. Don't know enough about the build of a doge to know if it could be rigged to it and look right, don't think it has enough neck to do so IMO. You might be able to make a giant one if you rigged it to a bear skeleton though lol.

Squid's nuclear power station model
Jerad2142 replied to Squid Empire's topic in Community Creations
I think if you just make them thinner they will come out looking better, in addition you could place a dazzle effect on the end of each rod to give it that final touch (granted, the stock dazzle lights aren't very impressive and aren't viewable for long rangers, but with some tweaks and better textures you can end up with something rather nice). -
Was it the Germans that trained dogs to hide under tanks (strapped with bombs) or a different country. The soviets used them. Germans too probably. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tank_dog Haha, just how I remember being told about it: Another serious training mistake was revealed later; the Soviets used their own diesel-engine tanks to train the dogs rather than German tanks which had gasoline engines. As the dogs relied on their acute sense of smell, the dogs sought out familiar Soviet tanks instead of strange-smelling German tanks.

The Batman Arkham series is actually quite good I feel; however, besides that game I would agree with you, I haven't found many good games for Unreal Engine 3. However, I wouldn't fault the engine on that, but the devs, I suspect that a lot of devs that take the unreal engine short cut take other shortcuts in development, which eventually leads to less love being put into the game.

Squid's nuclear power station model

It all looks good to me EXCEPT, I don't like the poles those lights are on on top of the cooling tower, I think they should be thinner. -

It's not a C&C4 mod... http://forums.cinergygaming.com/index.php?/topic/9-what-are-fusion-maps/ http://forums.cinergygaming.com/index.php?/topic/45-a-little-preview-of-what-to-expect/ I like it, I dislike Nod's units but some of GDI's are a lot of fun (Nod's look a tad cartoony in design aspects).

Well they might also need to either buy this model or make their own, the license I got it under allows me to use it in any of my projects as long as I don't make a profit, but I feel like sharing the 3d model to everyone (for their own mod use) is a bit sketchy. However, the animations will be for sure, and if they want to pay 20 bucks so will the dog, otherwise they just have to make their own dog model and rig it to my skeleton and they're set. http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/574621 As you can see its a Royalty Free License, which from my reading I meet all the requirements needed to allow me to put it in my own works and share it as long as I don't make money or distribute it for everyone's use.

Keyword RUN lol, keep in mind that starting a company costs money, and there is always a chance that people won't like what you make, thus meaning its a complete loss. But yeah in general managers make far more money.

That was my fault, I told you to name it CK, but turns out you can only have a single letter IE: H_R_Human instead of H_CK_Human. This does mean we're limited to 36 Skeletons, a few more if it also accepts special characters. So we are limited to only alphabetical or can we use numbers and symbols too? just curious Example : H_O_Human , H_2_Human , H_&_Human I suspect numbers will work, and its possible symbols would too (if it treats it like ascii I'd see no reason why not). However, I feel I must correct you on the use of the word "Limited" as in renegade's ~15 year life I have (to my knowledge) been the only one to make character animation sets that made it all the way into game, and this will be my fifth putting us at 8 of the 26 possibilities used (more if it supports numbers and symbols). List of all animation sets: A - Male B - Female C - Special mutant Set D - Deer K - Cats (K for kitten) M - Moose (just a blown up and simplified version of the deer) P - Dog (WIP (Obviously) (P for puppy)) U - Bears (U for Ursidae) If you do make a set for the chicken, I suggest you use R for rooster, as I can see the possibility of someone using H for Horse some day (guess they could use E for equine too though).

Haha that was indeed me, he reminds me most of the male mercenary character in the original UT, which is what I played as in that game all the time.
-
I played a few rounds of this and was quickly reminded how quickly death match in these games burns me out lol, especially if you have 4x the ping of the best player in game.

Programmers start about 40k-80k depending on what state, obviously the 60 is going to be more in the CA area where cost of living is higher.

Not a big fan of the flame thrower myself: *Terrible way to die (far from instant, very painful, and destroys the body so loved ones only get a box of charcoal). *Short ranged, forces them to hide in trenches or in other tight spots until the enemy is on top of them. *The user is stuck running around with a big firebomb on his back. *Friendly fire with this weapon would be most unforgiving.

I avoid APB as they don't like me much, if I posted anything there they'd just assume I was gloating. However if you want to post the Renegade and AR will soon have dogs go for it. Your right, that will help a lot with the jump animation, but the animation still isn't going to be as detailed as I tried to make the running and walk animations. When that guy was jumping across those logs I was waiting for him to miss and rack himself (3:00).

Yeah probably about 8 more hours, the hard part is done its just duplicating animations at this point and tweaking them for strafing and all that good stuff.

More animations

The are very few jobs out there that actually need a degree, if you can find a job that doesn't need a degree, once you have actual job experience they hardly ever look back at your college degree stuff, unless you don't have much job experience. With that being said, a degree is always helpful when getting jobs early on, as employers otherwise don't have anything professional to look at. In general web design/game development pay less than software engineer/developer/programmer. It wasn't until I was almost done with my computer science degree that my school started to offer a game design program, but the first class out of there had issues finding jobs as at the time the game development industry was flooded with people looking for a job in game design in contrast I got several job offers before I actually graduated and pretty much went straight from college into my new job (comp science major). Something to keep in mind, all my game designer friends have had to start as a QA Bitch, so if you really hate QA work you might have to find a different way to sneak in to the position (not saying that going in as an engine programmer won't have you being a QA bitch either mind you).

I have never had a dog myself, if you can find a video that happens to catch a dog running (ideally from the top view) it would help me immensely, otherwise if I make what I think looks right everyone else will be left throwing up lol.
