  3. This is just a small update that adds the B-52 Bomber, as well as several fixes.[blurb][/blurb] New Features B-52 Bomber has been added, enjoy doing bombing runs on unsuspecting targets! Added some new net code to support syncing the B-52’s bombs (yes, they inherit the physics of the plane) Pin System has been reworked a bit to make it more secure: Server now logs players out after 2 minutes if they haven’t successfully entered a pin. Server now logs players out after 5 incorrect pin attempts. Improvements/Bug Fixes Updated taxi paths, taxis will now drop players off at the hospital, closer to the motel, and near the police parking garage instead of dumping them in the middle of the road. Updated the data in the crash dumps file to include a list of players as well as the game running time to assist me in debugging. Civilian cars no longer de-spawn on an empty server (This was originally in place to keep the server from being hammered all day, but the new server is plenty powerful to not suffer from this). Upgraded how serverStatus.txt is updated, during map loading it now is updated to “Loading…” If the server locks up it will now restart within 30 seconds, this originally wasn’t possible as I couldn’t detect when the server was loading, but that feature is now possible with bhs updates. Master of Disguise’s wording no longer implies that the player won’t be detected by home defenses. Code formatting and structure cleanup as usual to help my sanity.

  22. The modernization process for Renegade and Generals' source codes is proving to be as troublesome task as I first predicted. The first hurdle is to have a working copy of Visual Studio 6.0, and then to upgrade it to Service Pack 5 (the latest version). Although I got VS6 to run on Windows 10, it just doesn't allow me to open files without crashing the program (likely due to my security, but that's difficult prospect in itself). Installing it in a Virtual Machine has its own problems (memory limitations being one of them depending on the version of Windows), but could be ideal. Thus, I am here to ask for some reinforcements on this issue. The objective is clear: get Visual Studio 6.0 either installed on your own system or a virtual machine. The version does not seem to matter, so either Professional or Enterprise seems to work. Just remember, if getting the installation disks off of the Internet Archive (or physically) to remember that Professional Edition has 2 disks and Enterprise Edition has 3 disks (you can either mount them in a disk reader or unzip all parts into the same folder with PowerISO), and all disks must be of the same language. Then you need to get the Service Pack 5 (SP5) update for VS6 and successfully install it. If correctly installed, the name of VS6 should update in the "About Visual C++" option in the "Help" section. All that being done, you can then open the .dsw file into the program and then follow the steps on the source code repositories on how to rebuild the sources (Build > Rebuild, but also the code will either need to change, be removed, or get the OG files for the rebuild). After that is successfully done, it can be then be opened in Visual Studio .NET 2003 and be converted to a modern VS project. That part is really easy, .NET 2003 can be installed and ran in modern Windows no problem, but the code must be rebuilt first in VS 6.0, and that's where headaches come from. And from there any modern Visual Studio will be able to open it and tell which parts need changing. Alternatively, one could just build the VS projects from scratch using the files and basing the connections on the dsw files. But this is its own work. Either way, I'm taking a break from this endeavor, I've lost too much sleep on this already. How it has felt attempting to get VS 6.0 to install and work correctly:

  24. I'm not really familiar with that particular package/mod, but looking at it now I can tell that it is built for something prior to the 4.0/4.x version of the W3D engine. It was likely intended for use with version 3.4.4 which was the good/stable version preceding the 4.x line. I say all that to say - it is very old. You may be able to get it working, but it might require the connecting clients to also be running the old engine version in order to work. I'll also poke @ Unstoppable as he may know more about this. If I have time in the coming days, I may take more than a 30 second look at it too.
  25. Why you nerf flak my favorite dude? He's already pretty weak, and against infantry he sucks, only good aim and positioning in 1v1's matter and is part of the necessary skill for him. Now he's even weaker. Nevertheless, I'm glad and thankful for the updates since I like the game, good job devs, this is just my feedback.
  26. Hi. I downloaded a ready-made server created by zunnie, and I want to try to configure it. This server was adapted for gamespy, and I don't have any knowledge or experience, so I'm asking for help. There are a few ini files that need to be rewritten. Coopbeta300.zip https://downloads.cncfps.com/Renegade/FDS/ You can send the files here or write how to set it
