  2. The latest development update for Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising has been released! Come and check out the new Mirage and Tesla Tanks as well as a new map design! Hi everyone, welcome to the latest AR development update! New Map: Frostbite Isle! Please give a warm welcome to our newest team member, TotallySnappy! Keen to get stuck in, Snappy has made us a new map which we hope to bring into the game fairly soon! It's based off the classic tight map design of C&C Renegade with one or two extra paths to stop the game from turning into a bit of a meat grinder. Think C&C_Under, but better! Epic map is epic Please feel free to let us know what you think about this new map and again, give Snappy a warm welcome! Mirage Tank The Mirage Tank is a high tier allied vehicle that turns into a tree when it's not moving/shooting. It's armed with a Heatwave cannon that does incredible damage to infantry and is pretty good against vehicles, the Mirage Tank isn't too good against structures though, which makes it ineffective at assaulting bases. Ambushing unsuspecting Soviet vehicles is where the Mirage Tank truly shines. Is that convoy of Apocalypse Tanks protecting some V3's? No problem, just uncloak once they drive by and thwart their assault in one decisive move! Sneak attack! Great model and texture here by Romanov! Look out for it ingame soon! Tesla Tank For Russia only, but sometimes it's in crates (those awesome crates from last time that Romanov created!), the Soviet Tesla Tank is the pinnacle of Soviet portable Tesla technology. The Soviets will get this unit if the country picker rolls Russia at the start of a match! Capacitor at full charge! One of the unique things about the Telsa Tank in RA2 was that it could fire over walls. However, due to the way that FPS games work, we're not going to be incorporating some sort of special firing mode that allows you to shoot over walls like in RA2. If you want to shoot over walls in your Tesla Tank, feel free to move to higher ground or shoot at the top of buildings that you can see. Another great model and texture again by Romanov! Top notch work as usual! Recruitment We are still hiring new team members to speed up AR's release! If you think that you can help us out please let us know! We require the following: 2 Artists for modelling and texturing civilian buildings and props. 1 Artist for making nature assets (trees, bushes, etc.) 1 Character Artist 1 Texture Artist/Photoshop User (optionally unwrapper) to help in texturing building interior objects (Level Designer position taken for now ) If you feel like contributing to the game and think you have the skills, don't hesitate to apply! Given this and your statement about how artillery "just doesn't compare to the V2" that lacked citations for why the artillery was worse when the game stats were showing it being better, sometimes I wonder if you've actually played the game enough to know anything about its balance. What's your real ingame name, cause System Error Message totally doesn't show up on the listings. Rifles' kill:purchase ratio is uncountable since you can spawn as them without purchasing them, and everything else either performs too horribly to care about (such as technicians who, as you might expect, suck against infantry) or has bugged stats (grenadiers) - aside from that Tanya appears to be performing really well, only coming behind Volkov (who happens to be more expensive, fancy that - but may also be getting a bit of a free pass from AP mines, not sure how those track) and Snipers (who are super-specialised into the "kill infantry" role even more than Tanya is, and are better at living and sneak-killing because of their range). Doesn't look particularly "unbalanced" to me - her kill ratio has to say something about her ability to kill things. And I have no problem killing things with Tanya, but as a guy with a lot of experience and knowledge of the game (being the one who's been tweaking it for almost 2 years) I suppose that's not saying much. Expensive units, while they are generally better than cheaper ones, have to not be massively overpowering because hey, guess what, this isn't an RTS where you can just spam oodles of cheaper units, here you are limited by player count. While in RA you would be able to get 60 rifle soldiers for the price of 5 tanyas, here you can only get as many tanyas as you have players (assuming they all have enough money) and the same goes for rifle soldiers. If a tanya is in your building you cannot divide yourself into 12 riflemen and gank her down (let alone infinite riflemen since they're free here). She still has to be somewhat balanced for one-on-one combat.

  4. If it turns out to be a problem, we can always randomize tree positions at the start of the map >=D Different every time. Currently it picks from 3 variants randomly which is defined per-map (so no palm trees on a snowy map). The thing is we could also turn them into rocks or dumpsters, not just trees.

  6. Are you just trolling at this point? knowing the time I invested on this mod, your question sounds like an insult. Not trolling at all. Renegade X is composed of my old staff, if they don't make the switch I will just give them all the source material of the mod to make it happen then. Your original declaration sounds pretty caustic itself. It doesn't come from well-informed reasoning, and in fact none of this reasoning is even present in your post. From one guy who spent a lot of time on w3d to another guy who spent a lot of time on w3d, some people want to keep working on games for w3d and that is okay. They have fun doing it and many others have fun playing it. Let them have their fun. Please?

Renegade X is composed of my old staff, if they don't make the switch I will just give them all the source material of the mod to make it happen then. Feel free to release your personal textures if you'd like. But you do not have permission to release models or any other assets that you didn't make. You and many of those other team members you are referring to quit the mod team awhile ago and I have the "I quit" post to prove it. I've also been talking to one of the main guys on the Renegade X team about a possible joint project, so if you'd like to come over and threaten us then I will point him to your thread post and explain why our plans aren't going to work.

  8. You only need one Tesla Trooper to supercharge a coil. You currently need two if you want to power an un-powered coil. Maybe.

  11. Haha, not exactly. Chrono tech needs another look at, but it was functional a long time ago. 1. Yes! 2. Just the Allies currently. 3. Yes. 4. Later. 5. They have been implemented, but they are currently only placeholders. 6. Nope. 7. They do change your armour type. GI's are more resistant to everything when deployed! This is why me and moonsense715 answer the questions.
