  1. Funny thing is my upload speed is actually decent when you consider that I don't have fiber optic... Just a shame about the download speed Especially given that I'm trying to download all 40Gb of Wolfeinstein The New Order.... 3 days of downloading a'hoy
  2. that's it http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/710787530750187747/E32F476AE7E035F990D6F8C77D7351241EC80237/
  3. Apologies for Hijacking the thread slightly... After hunting around a bit it seems STEAM doesn't bother attaching file extensions onto it's screenshots which is what is causing the bother. //images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/710787530750187747/E32F476AE7E035F990D6F8C77D7351241EC80237 Stupid STEAM
  4. To be honest with you, I like the W3D engine and TSR being on it, I'm not a dev and have very little experience with modelling or game making/modding shenanigans (I once tried to put an ION cannon turret into an onslaught map on UT2004 oh so many years ago.... it didn't end well) but as someone who messes about with textures and and all that, I like how easy it is to just... well... do stuff. Take my modified Banshee for example http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/710787530750187747/E32F476AE7E035F990D6F8C77D7351241EC80237/ it's just so much nicer not having to use specialist software and learn the whole Unreal engine just to re-texture stuff and just being able to paint it how I want using paint.net while even having the game open and watching it update every time I click save. Maybe it's just me, I think the ION cannon incident made me afraid of the Unreal Editor (sigh) P.s, really wish I could use the whole image in post thing with stuff from my Steam library without the 'You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community' . Real pain having to go to upload to Photobucket just to post a pic here
  5. If your going to go Diesel punk you should include a modified version of that Mining steam punk Mech I'm positive I remember you posting ages back (either that or I'm getting my awesome posters mixed up again) Either way good luck with this.
  6. A classic, combining great facial hair with eggcelent plans involving giant robots and flying battleships, give it up for Dr Robotnik and/or Eggman.
  7. I'd play it and I took the liberty of asking a few friends who are into RTS games and they all said they would play it. i think you would be catering to a very niche market though, although don't let that put you off. If you want to make it, make it and if it's good then people will buy it/play it.
  8. There is not enough wood on the planet to accurately measure how much Wood WallyWood could chuck.
  9. How about making it so that when you install the launcher, it scans to see if you have TSR installed and if you don't it offers to automatically install it for you.
  10. The rest can be added at a later date. It also probably wouldn't hurt going around Steam(I know), Origin and EA's forums and telling people there. If your/we are gonna go to the Steam forums etc. then we'd need to collectively come up with what we would include in the posts, including links, information, videos, pictures etc etc. Wallywood had a pretty cool pic of a harvester with the word Reborn behind it somewhere in the Post your screenshots topic that would make a great header for a post (if we could use it) edit: Found it! And wasn't there a trailer thing posted up not that long ago that involved someone getting shot in the family jewels by an Obelisk after his titan got kersplatted, that could also work along with the old 2013 trailer. Assuming we could use it as it was apparently put up by BHP which might cause issues There is also the gameplay vids from the Easter update if people were happy to have them used as well.
  11. There's also Natural Selection which is a bit more main stream that does RTS/FPS in that one player builds structures and issues orders while others play as the 'grunts' and actually do the fighting. Another one would be Project Nomads which involved flying Islands and constructing a base on your Island before exploring in TPS in search of blueprints and resources for other buildings. Or Maelstrom... assuming you can get it to run which is a shame because it's a really good game. There is a list of games here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:First-person_strategy_video_games And that's not all of them, there are tons of them in development at the moment, Flagship, Mist of Stagnation, Universal War (can't seem to find it anymore ), Dysis (if the dev ever comes back from Hiatus), Battle Swarm, Universum: War Front. As you can tell I love RTS/FPS hybrids
  12. Ya know, When I said get back on topic, I didn't mean bring up the whole "Waaaaa! Why U Guyz No use RenX for TS Rebarnzzzzzz" and "Waaaaaa! We No wantz Renx for TS Rebarnzzzzzz" I do believe this topic started out Which was about bringing new players to the CURRENT Ts Reborn/W3D hub not where W3D hub might head next. I love how we just hijacked AndrewGolds thread and completely derailed it. Maybe the whole, RenX, W3D, Unreal 4 engine discussion should be in it's own thread.
  13. For the tutorial I'd go with both, a skipable, hand holding, tutorial level/start that gives you directions to a decent place to start your town (although you would find better areas on your own) and walks you through the early steps and a grimmer or mayor handbook that players can refer back to with useful information and references to what they learned in the tutorial. As for citizens I'd go Dwarf Fortress style as in they take care of themselves and attempt to complete any jobs you assign them that they can do, but you can't actually control them (although you could make them follow you with a follow me command) For example I set an area to be mined to create a cave, then anyone who has been assigned to be a miner will go and mine that area out, however I can't chose who (out of the people with mining) will do it or when they will do it as they could have other jobs to do first or be sleeping etc. I could however find a miner and cancel whatever other jobs he has so that the cave digging is now his priority, or possibly make it so that you can set certain tasks to proceed other tasks for certain citizens, such as mining being greater than fishing for miners who are also gatherers. I'm also curious how mining/resource gathering etc. would work in this game, would it be like Minecraft where people actually go down mines to find stuff, or would it be like Anno 2070 where you build a structure over the resource location that constantly mines out resources until the area is depleted? Would resources be teleported to the stockpile or would someone have to transfer it manually (or by truck)? I'll write more when I'm not so tired
  14. Keep the graphics simple and easy to read, if your making a city builder fps hybrid then your gonna need to give the player all the information in an easy to understand way and build a solid foundation that doesn't lag out when you hit 40-50 citizens. Your settings (IMO): A) Medieval/Fantasy ( Age of Empires or even better Dwarf Fortress style) B) Scifi (go look up a game called Maia on Steam) C) Post Apocalyptic (either realistic or Fallout style) You want one of these settings (bonus points if you manage to combine a Scifi city/colony with a Medieval/Fantasy world) to limit people in a realistic way at first and to provide challenging enemies for the FPS survival aspect of the game to make the early game more fun, give them a wagon with supplies (or lander/rover if Scifi) and some NPC's to manage and then let them loose to decide where their colony is going to be. Make them build the colony up with a selection of pre-designated buildings such as walls, houses, farms etc. that fit into a tech tree with requisites that need researching (masonry + stone working for walls etc.) but also include an editor so that people can make their own building designs for the designated stuff and share it with others. As the Colony grows and acquires more people, add an option to switch to a RTS style mode for easier management and placing of buildings. Make sure it has a bloody good tutorial, I mean SERIOUSLY good. At the end of the day however it's your game (or idea) so make what you want to make. That's my view on it anyway.
  15. Ok back on track now I was thinking of creating a Steam group for W3D hub, so that messaging members about upcoming events for TSR could be easier (steam group members get an announcement when an event is organised or coming up when they log into Steam) and could result in more players if the group gets enough advertisement (steam group members can invite people to join the group and spread the gospel of W3D to the non belivers) Names I was thinking of: A) W3D B) W3D Hub C) W3D Renegade D) TSR E) Tiberian Sun Reborn Feel free to add your own suggestions. Of course W3D staff/Forum mods would have auto moderator status (or whatever the group equiv is) so that they could post event notices. Can't decide if the group should be public (anyone can join) or private (invite/ request only) and we would need a snazzy abbreviation/tag (W3D is already taken, grrrrr) So what is peoples opinion on this. edit: so just found out that 'w3d hub' is open as an abbreviation
  16. Or never bothered/forgot to post in this topic (like me) or realize that there are forums (again like me - took me two weeks to discover the forums back at BHP and actually get around to making an account after downloading the game)
  17. Pretty interesting, although Plasma is a Nod technology. I'd be tempted to suggest a Sonic, Mini Firestorm or Ion grenade instead. Stolen plasma grenade could work, makes him even more of a bad ass as he's turning NODs own kit against them.
  18. TeamWolf and I met Greg Black in London and he said that Tiberium didn't pass quality standards and was essentially a bad game. He'd played one of the last builds that they'd made and it wasn't looking good at all. I think C&C4 came out just because they had the tech already established, so it was easy to heavily mod RA3 and ship it out quickly for easy money. Too bad that the game sucked! So rather than attempt to fix it, they just scrapped it  No matter how bad a game is, you can pull it back if you put some effort into it. That's the problem these days with bigger game companies, it's all about the profits and if the game happens to be really good and innervation then that is just a happy coincidence. Actually I have to give credit to EA for putting their foot down and saying no to releasing it, as we all saw what releasing a highly anticipated AAA title that is a broken train wreck can do. 'cough' Alienscolonialmarines 'cough' Although I still say EA is ran by Clowns... and not the nice kind either (assuming you get nice Clowns) I'm talking 'IT' level Clowns.
  19. R-R-R-Resurectiioooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Try listening to this the next time you play Red Alert as the Soviets... guarantee you will smile! I imagine this is what the Soviet engineers sing when you start placing buildings in your base
  20. Further proof that EA are run by monkeys holding bananas, who wouldn't recognize the opportunity for a good new game series if bit them on the a++ and the only hope for the C&C universe is with modders who actually care about the games they are making. Unless of course it comes out during that brief period every couple of years where EA stops messing around for a few months and actually releases good games... you know when the moon turns blue and pigs learn to fly. EA in a nutshell
  21. They did, it was called Tiberium. It was cancelled because it "didn't meet EA's quallity assurance standards". Then we got C&C4. Go figure. Oh... THAT game... Never did like that Titan design... You would have though GDI might have learned from the whole Firestorm crisis that solely AI controlled war machines are a bad idea. Trooper armor looked good though.
  22. Amen to that Well said Andrew. We're all working together to create games that are unlike anything else that's out there. The w3d engine helps us to do this with it's unique quirks. The infrastructure that aim to build around our games should hopefully keep them alive and running for another good 10+ years. A website and wiki hub paired with a brand new stats system as well as a wealth of new maps and content for TS Reborn should help us to achieve this. Also when Apocalypse Rising hits it's first public release then we should bring in another wealth of new players. We're really on track to building a community that we can all be proud of. TBH i think EA are missing out, there's a clear demand for another type of this kind of game. Part of me fears that if Electronic Asshats did announce Renegade 2, that they would then try to kill off TSR, APB, RA-AR etc. as they would view them as competition, no matter how absurd that is. especially as I can almost guarantee that unless BHP and W3d staff were all involved the end result would be worse than the FREE standalone titles currently available (I have quite a low opinion of EA these days) Knowing EA they would probably take out base buildings from Renegade 2 and make it capture the control zones or plant bombs on objectives or Team death match, and let's not forget the day one bugs that will take them four to six weeks to fix (compared to W3d staff fixing bugs in a day... and adding more content via the bugfix patch too) Oh and micro transactions and vertical progression, don't forget them.
