Synaesthesia
Fast forward a few months: I've been working on a new modeling image for my company's website. This is all in UE4, still a work-in-progress but getting closer to being done. You can see the progress images here: http://imgur.com/xJZkxgH,kY97Ulu,aP7k468,WJrBlUf,zX1KPGC,5IOMYDg,NLfAT1R,w3FacSZ,ZUSrO2b,ZcHuwEA,ARKKXyO,cVFvf1Q,8wDJlhc#12
Synaesthesia
I got recruited into spending most of my spare time developing an open-world recreation of Eielson AFB in Alaska. Almost everything you see here was made by me, with the exception of the radio tower in the distance. This is only about 20% done.

Popular Post Synaesthesia
So Quixel Suite 2 is out now (after weeks of hard work on all of our parts), and I decided to take my old freight train project into it. Here's what I have so far.
Kaskins
Just for curiousity that you mention that you said "old freight train" is this for your own portfolio project? If this is for your own portfolio I may suggest adding some control chaos or wear and tear on the model itself as its has been used and it was under the rain and sun. Like a little bit dent at the edge or in the middle, or one of the nuts and bolt that lose overtime and is missing from the model. Just a suggestion.

Synaesthesia
Thanks guys! I can certainly continue to add details to this project. It's not done yet. Thanks for the critique!
Synaesthesia
Taking a break from my freight locomotive to work on #scifiathlon2016 as a just-for-fun entry. I'm employed by Quixel, so I can't participate to win any prizes. 2370s era Type 2 phaser, high-poly version:
OWA
Your work keeps getting better and better every time I see it. Nice job man! I'm especially fond of those freight train bogies; the materials are looking really awesome. My only critique is that the base of the wheels (that come into contact with the track) should be almost a mirror sheen due to the constant contact with the rails (unless the locomotive has been stationary for a while).
Synaesthesia
Thanks! The wheel surfaces are actually almost polished mirrors - they're just not showing up as well in 3DO due to the way the IBL works in the viewer. In UE4 they're pretty shiny regardless of the viewing angle:
Popular Post Synaesthesia
Type 2 Phaser from Star Trek: The Next Generation.2,252 polygons, Unreal 4-spec 4k texturing, rendered in real-time with 3DO.
moonsense715
That is looking really sweet. I like all the pretty surface details. Quixel = win?
Omar007
Tss someone touched it with his dirty fingers! It looks really detailed though. The little scratches on the edge etc. I like it!

DeviousDave
Dat surface detail If only we could get detail like that in TSR... ... ... You know, I was half tempted to try and enter that competition but if that's the quality of texturing/modeling thats going to be there then I have a snowflakes chance in hell of even placing in it. Looks at the Phaser, looks at own texturing attempts, goes sits in a corner and sulks
Synaesthesia
It doesn't hurt to try and enter. At the least, it's fun. I can't even win anything because I work for Quixel, but I still entered. Here's some fun I had last night with the RAAPB logo that I built in 2005? 2006? It's at least nine years old at this point.
Synaesthesia
I would, but I really don't have a lot of time for games these days. I work two jobs and have a family of four. Time is a very limited commodity for me.
Popular Post Synaesthesia
Redid the MCT last week for the guys at APB. It's the first contribution I've made to APB since 2006.
devilslayersbane
Could you do an aircraft request? There's a specific jet that I've always wanted to put in Arma 3, but I'm not good enough at modeling and my texturing skills are extremely lacking as well.
Synaesthesia
Unfortunately, no - I simply don't have the time to dedicate to something like that.

Popular Post Synaesthesia
Another office project - AMX-10P. Modeled by someone on my team, painted by me. Done entirely in Quixel SUITE 2 using nDo and dDo. I'll post another rendition of it soon - this is still a WIP. 4k texture for the body, 512x for the tracks.
Popular Post Synaesthesia
Running my SD40-2 locomotive through UVPacker IPackThat right now. Rendered out in 3DO, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quixel SUITE. 131,000 polygons before adding the interior. Trucks (wheels) use a 4k material, the chassis will use an 8k material.
