There's a very thin line between trolling (lol) and insulting. The map designer for RA_Siege is Raap and he's extremely good at what he does. From the poll Pushwall mentioned, RA_Siege is far from a "cancer" to most players and thus you would be wise to refrain from voicing your opinion so loudly as if it were. It not only gives your opinion less strength, it also demotivates others from partaking in a discussion--also a psychological effect, since you brought up psychology. By the way, I'm sorry you felt that the rainy weather in a video game didn't act as a pick-me-up for your sour mood. Be careful with the way you word your posts in the future.

A Path Beyond LST with tank aboard (the first demo)
Jeod replied to GraYaSDF's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
I can see it breaking the game and causing a lot of unpopularity if pesky tank rushes suddenly become more pesky by being able to rush via water route without penalty.- 23 replies

A Path Beyond LST with tank aboard (the first demo)
Jeod replied to GraYaSDF's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
Is there a method for occupancy limit? This should use a risk v. reward system. 6 HTs rush via land or 3 HTs rush via LST. Of course more LSTs could be purchased, but it would cost more money.- 23 replies

5 - Advanced Unwrapping, by ChopBam
Jeod replied to ChopBam's topic in Modelling, Unwrapping & Texturing
I don't do this sort of stuff, but this kind of tutorial is easy to follow and I understand it. Now if only I could draw textures that don't look like a 5-year-old did them. D: -
I consistently see large updates (>1GB) for all sorts of EA and Ubisoft games, at least on Xbox One. Perhaps Sony has more of an issue with updates.
-
A valid point; it was a small game and I believe the Soviets only had 4 players on their team, and I recall that one was even shooting rockets at us as we were traveling to their base. If they alerted their team, nobody listened. I concur with moving the silo. Place it within range of a tesla coil and the Soviets have a well-defended source of income as the Allies do.
-
As of the most recent patch or perhaps earlier, the Allied Rocket Soldier can reach the Soviet Refinery from atop the hill at the back of the Soviet base. It's possible for a group of 3 Rocket Soldiers to go up there and take down the Flame Tower and Refinery within the first 4 minutes of a match. I get that the map is Soviet-sided according to the stats, but it would become severely Allied-sided if this rush method were widely known. It is currently unknown if Soviet troops could even retaliate without having to climb the hills, where the Allies will have the high ground advantage. I feel like this rush method should be considered an unintentional exploit. The Flame Tower cannot properly fire up hills, and even then, the Rocket Soldier can outrange a Flame Tower.

I'd think if there was a console edition there wouldn't be a launcher associated with it. One would just start a game from the app menu bypassing a launcher entirely. If that were the case, I can't see APB running anything other than direct connect to the official server. Cross-platform play might also be unlikely, but it would depend on netcode interpretation.
-
I'm not asking about preferences for controller vs. mouse, I'm asking about the possibility vs. impossibility of a console variant.
-
I'm probably not the only one who has thought about playing C&C Renegade and RA:APB on game consoles. The W3D Engine is the predecessor of the SAGE engine, which is used in C&C Generals and C&C3: Tiberium Wars. As someone without any experience in game dev, I have no idea what the scope of the updates from W3D to SAGE are. I do know that C&C3: Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath, and Red Alert 3 were released on the Xbox 360 and entirely playable online. I for one would love to see APB make an appearance on Xbox LIVE as an ID@Xbox game. However, I also know of two primary challenges: EA owning the rights to the franchise and engine, and the lengthy process and adaptations that would need to be made in order to publish a full release on a console (including making the launcher and games 'universal apps'). The benefits would be fantastic--imagine gamertags and achievements and the amount of exposure W3D would get--but the challenges likely outweigh those benefits. Question for the developers: What engine limitations, besides the two primary challenges listed above, make APB on a game console impossible? Or is it possible yet too tedious?

Nice addition with the window. Perhaps sometime down the road we'll have a more complex model like the image above. It's just a concept (actually the Titan II ICBM missile silo), but that's generally what I think of when I say having a catwalk to the actual silo would be nice. Probably couldn't be as large as this though, considering the underground area conflicting with other underground parts of a base like the war factory.

A Path Beyond RA_Under Suggested New Tunnel Suggestion
Jeod replied to NoSpoons's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
This suggestion would make the map more like C&C_Field from Renegade but without the waterfall. I like the idea. Of course, I'm biased toward any map additions that add an additional strategy option. -
Wow I mentioned this only a few weeks ago! That was fast. Wonder if it was already in progress...

Help Getting an internal error when trying to launch either RA:APB or TS:R
Jeod replied to MustaphaTR's topic in Help & Support
APB is now in Delta version, which has greater system requirements than APB Beta or Gamma. I suggest the following based on the information you provided: 1. Go to the launcher, click the Games tab, click on the square APB icon on the left, and then click the 'User Data Folder' link on the right side. Please upload any game log text files you see there. 2. Reinstall RA:APB Delta from the launcher while your computer is in the English - UK locale 3. Run RA:APB as an administrator (you can do this by right-clicking the file game.exe, going to properties, and checking a box for it) - Keep the same locale you used to install APB -
Help Getting an internal error when trying to launch either RA:APB or TS:R
Jeod replied to MustaphaTR's topic in Help & Support
Glancing at the dump, can you try running the game as an administrator while waiting for a response? Another culprit could be the low RAM. You only have 2 GB, and Windows will hog half of that. -
His post sounded like that copypasta. I thought it was funny.

I agree, the Riot Shield will indeed greatly.

If you don't like the RA-lism go play a different game that has the weapon you want. Putting modern era technology in a WW1-era game is just weird. It's like CoD's "new" WW2 game that did without the swastikas and has too much diversity for its' time.

Games [GAME OVER - TOWN WINS]Steins;Gate - Quantum Mafia
Jeod replied to Category 5 Hurricane's topic in Forum Games
I'm getting lost following the planning phase in Lab #4. How did Silius get lynched on D1 when the N0 death was still undetermined? Orange only died after I was lynched as a Rounder on D2. According to the votes, Chaos_Knight is the missing vote to get Irish lynched on D1. I'm guessing that somewhere in the time machine actions, he lost access to the active lab and thus his additional actions could not be resolved? If that's the case, why didn't CK use a gold upa to break into Voe's lab and finish the plan? Was it because the final outcome was just as desirable (2 scum dead)?- 1,796 replies

Games [GAME OVER - TOWN WINS]Steins;Gate - Quantum Mafia
Jeod replied to Category 5 Hurricane's topic in Forum Games
In that case, there should be time throughout the remaining month of June and the first half of July for at least one game. Maybe two Back to Basics, or maybe something a tad more complex: I'll toss up a sign-up/game style poll in a few days, after Cat5 has had a chance to finalize this game and after I make sure nobody else wants to jump into the GM chair.- 1,796 replies

Games [GAME OVER - TOWN WINS]Steins;Gate - Quantum Mafia
Jeod replied to Category 5 Hurricane's topic in Forum Games
Depending on when @Nodlied's 'July Crisis' game is, and depending on how my new job schedule works out (I start next Thursday), I may host a Back to Basics IV. Unless @VERTi60 has been secretly working on a top secret APB RPG V.- 1,796 replies
