Then it suggest that if I want to install into a different folder, then please select "Browse" to do so. Then it prompts me to select Next to continue.

I cannot find a folder to install to. There isn't any selectable folder in my "Browse" option to select. Is there something I should type in? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the community!

Scripts4.7 relies on a valid Renegade installation folder to work. So if you point it to a valid Renegade game folder, it should give you the option to install it.

Generally if it doesn't find a path automatically, it means that it cannot find where your game is installed to.

1. Uninstall the game.
2. Install the Microsoft C++ VS2012 Redist from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
3. Go to "C:\ProgramData\W3D Hub\Launcher\package-cache\games\tsr"
4. Delete everything in this folder
5. Try reinstalling TSR and see if it works

We're looking to put together server packages for both TSR and APB for download soon. Definitely keep prodding up about it and we'll make sure we get something out. In the past we've been reluctant to release the server files, but we're now working on some stuff so that we can release them for people to host their own games.

[Missing Games from the Launcher?]

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note to say [blurb]We've changed the way that the launcher displays some of our games. Find out more here![/blurb]

We've gone ahead and hidden any games that have not been released yet (unless you have access to them as a Tester or Staff member), so games like Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising, Battle for Dune: War of Assassins and Tiberian Dawn: Ground Zero won't fully show up on the launcher until they are released.

This change should make it easier for everyone to figure out what games are currently available to play.  

Just to be clear, the games have not been cancelled. This is just a measure to make it more obvious what everyone has access to play.

[TSR Updated with Timeaua's Maps!]

Tiberian Sun: Reborn has been updated with a few extra maps that were missing from the re-launch. All of these maps were originally made by community member @Timeaua.

These maps are:

• Omega City -  A large urban map with a city in the centre. GDI and Nod both have forward bases that can be used to repair vehicles and deposit Tiberium.
• Dam -  A large Dam separates the GDI and Nod bases, with routes that coil underneath the hills through tunnel systems.
• Tiber - Located near the source of Tiberium around the impact site on the Tiber River, the terrain between the GDI and Nod bases is dangerous and inhospitable. A Small civilian settlement in the middle of the map sits atop a network of tunnels and pathways.

All three of these maps are now live on the server, so suit up and get out there!

That's right! This is not a drill!

Tiberian Sun: Reborn is back on the W3D Hub Launcher as of... right now!

Open up the W3D Hub Launcher to download the latest version! In a few hours time at around 7PM GMT we'll be firing up the server, so look out for more announcements on Discord as to when the festivities are really kicking off! But for now it's back and all set for you guys to download it!

Important Things to Note

Because Reborn is now a fairly old game, there might be a couple of things you'll need to do to get it running. It will probably install fine most of the time, but if you have issues, here are a couple of quick troubleshooting notes:

• If you have trouble with missing redistributables, download and install the latest MSVC 2012 redist. 
  • Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
• If your game isn't patching correctly, try doing a repair via the launcher. Is this does not work, delete any existing TSR game files and try downloading it from scratch. This should fix the issue.
• V-Sync should be enabled by default. You will want to leave that on at all times unless your PC is very special (like 2005 special). Turning it off can cause strange physics issues.
• If you have FPS problems when a MSG or MSA is in use, the temporary fix is to disable your shaders (settings -> extended options -> shader slider). We hope to correct this with a future patch.
• For any other problems or queries, please ask us on Discord.

First and foremost to @Wallywood for giving us all a great Christmas gift that's made this possible! To @Einstein for running tests behind the scenes to ensure that the game was in good shape to release, to @TeamWolf for driving the patching process and making sure the server was up to date (and also poking me to patch the game with the necessary files) as well as @Killing_You for his pledge to make fixes where necessary (more on this later!) and finally to @Nodlied and @NoSoldier for scrambling together a testing session at the last minute.

Also I'd like to extend a thanks to everyone who tested the game last night to ensure that what we released today was as stable as it could be. The turnaround time on this has been awesome, so cheers to anyone else I may have missed.

I also just want to say thanks to the community for continually asking after Reborn whilst it was offline. It's your dedication and love for the game that made this all possible, so we hope that sometime in the future we'll be able to deliver what we were promising earlier this year with TSR 2.0. It'll hopefully be worth the wait for that true Tiberian Sun FPS experience.  

Final Thoughts

We decided last night that we'll be removing TS_Desert_River from the server rotation permanently, so to give the ol' girl a send off, we did a classic Renegade clan-style picture. The map will still be in the game files, but it won't be played on the server any more.

Otherwise, join us tonight from 7PM GMT onwards where we'll be fighting over control of the Tiberium like the good ol' days.

2020 has been a tumultuous year to say the least. With Coronavirus really screwing with everyone's plans and locking many parts of the world down, we wanted to do something to bring us all together. We've got some bright hopes and aspirations brewing for 2021, but before then we'd like to offer up some celebration to usher the new year in properly. How do you ask? Why, with some games of Renegade, APB, IA, Reborn and other C&C titles of course!

[Merry Christmas! Reborn's coming back!]

Hi everyone!

Merry Christmas to you all and thanks for sticking with us during this tough year. Covid-19 has tested all of our collective resolve this year amongst other challenges, but we're pushing on through and looking forward to what 2021 brings!

You may have noticed a certain thread popping up recently with some good news regarding Tiberian Sun: Reborn, so I just want to take a moment to address that and let you all know about what our plans are. As a special present to the fans of TSR, @Wallywood has contacted us and outlined his intentions to let any legal documentation regarding the project to expire in the new year. You can find the thread below:

This is obviously great news for any fans of the project, as it means that we can get it back up onto the launcher and freely develop the project once again when we are ready and able to. Some may say that we already had the rights to develop the game regardless of the documents, but the truth of the matter is that the situation earlier this year really halted our momentum on the project at the time by killing our enthusiasm and drive to continue. We wouldn't have been able to continue development even if we'd chosen to, because we were mentally fatigued at that point. This news is great for Reborn's future though, as it will ensure that it is completed someday.

That being said, we do have some more immediate plans for the project. A large portion of the team and I had a quick meeting the other night and here is our current plan for what we're aiming to do with Reborn in the near future:

• The version that was taken down from the launcher earlier this year will be given a dust off, and placed back up on the launcher.
  • We will be aiming to do a small scripts update and test stability over the next few days.
  • To commemorate a legendary date in Reborn's history, we will be aiming to get the game back up on the launcher on the 31st of December 2020 (14 years after the infamous 31st December 2006 release date).
  • More information on servers will follow in the next few days as we work the details out.
     
• Reborn 2.0 is still on hold for now, as the team has dissolved and is working on a combination of other projects at the moment.
  • Battle for Dune and Apocalypse Rising are getting the most focus right now, with releases looking a lot closer than they were earlier this year. We're hoping to produce more content for you guys regarding these projects when we can.
  • We are also working on some internal engine update projects that will benefit everything that we're making further down the line. Stay posted for more news on that in the new year.

On a personal note, I just wanted to mention that I had a great chat and a catch up with Wally the other night when we spoke about all this and he made it clear that he bears no ill will to the team or the community. We were all victims of a situation that escalated out of control and now that we've all had some time to reflect, cooler heads have ultimately prevailed. On behalf of the team, I'd just like to say thankyou to Wally for making the decision that is ultimately the best for the community and the fans. We ain't done by a long shot yet and one day I hope we release a game that lives up to what we all want Reborn to be in our heads.   

So, in light of this good news at the end of a tumultuous year, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

[What's happening with Apocalypse Rising?]

Hi everyone,

It's been over two years since we last posted any formal updates to AR, so I wanted to just post and assure you all that development is back up and running and better than it has ever been.

For the past two years, we were wholly distracted by the development of Tiberian Sun: Reborn, which ultimately had to be put on pause. However, putting TSR on pause allowed us to regroup a bit and take another look at AR and where we were at with the project. Coming up with a fairly solid development plan, we started working on the game again formally in August and have been rapidly iterating ever since.

This leads us to where we are right now; running fortnightly tests where we're iterating on the balance and features within the game in order to create the definitive RA2-shooter experience.

I just wanted to start by re-posting a link to the stream we did around 10 days ago on the current test build to kick things off again.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be releasing updates on new features and content that have been going into the game along with images and videos about where we're at and what we're doing.

We also want to start updating you guys a bit more often and also engaging you in our development process a bit more as time goes on, so if you guys have any ideas for stuff you'd like to see, whether it be feature-centric videos, development team AMAs, more streams, unit renders, regular content updates or anything else you can think of, let us know in the comments below!

[EA Releases Modding Guidelines for the C&C Franchise]

Hi everyone! We usually keep news and information on what EA is doing on the light side of things here, but Jim Vessella and the team have just released something that does directly relate to what we do here at W3D Hub.

In an news post on Reddit, Jim outlined the intention to update and clarify EA's position on the C&C modding community by creating some new modding guidelines in coordination with EA's Legal team. The way that many communities mod Command & Conquer greatly exceeds the scope of how they were being modded when they were released (including us at W3D Hub and how we mod Renegade), so some assurances from EA have been met with appreciation from our side.

So what do these guidelines do? Essentially they are designed to protect EA's C&C franchise from people who seek to do harm to C&C through modding and commercial abuse of modding. For the modding community itself, these guidelines serve to strengthen it's legitimacy in EA's and the wider world's eyes as well as provide clarity in what is and isn't allowed.

But where does this leave communities like W3D Hub, OpenRA and Renegade X who essentially use content and intellectual property from existing C&C titles to create whole new standalone games? In this new document, EA classify our projects as "extensions of the C&C video games", which covers and protects our operations at W3D Hub.

This is fantastic news for us, as it allows us to push our projects forwards without the uncertain fear that we would get shut down at some point by a cease and desist order. Jim and the team at EA didn't need to do this, but they have gone above and beyond to create these guidelines with the community's interests at it's core. These guidelines strengthen EA's relationship with the community and in it's essence, EA has ensured that Renegade's unique position is honoured and we can continue to make games for many years to come!

Command & Conquer™ Franchise Modding Guidelines

EA appreciates the passion that our players and community members have for our games. In particular, we celebrate the Command & Conquer community Mods that have helped fans engage in our C&C games for decades. Members of the C&C community have asked us what community Mods they can create and distribute. This Policy applies to all modifications, alterations, or extensions of the C&C video games and universe, including add-ons, modified UI and new levels, maps and updates. EA does not object to your use of the C&C video games, including the C&C Remastered Collection, in your community Mods, provided you comply with the following guidelines.

Not for commercial profit:  Community Mods are just that, Mods focused on coming together over a shared passion, not a money-making venture. Your Mods must be non-commercial and distributed free-of-charge at this time. Therefore, Mods cannot be sold, licensed, rented for a fee, nor can the Mod contain features that would support monetary transactions of any type. Mods may not be used to advertise any goods or services. 

In addition, your Mods must not be used to solicit donations, except as follows: EA recognizes that the time and resources needed to create Mods can sometimes be substantial. Accordingly, Mod developers are allowed to fund their development costs through donations, subject to the following restrictions:

• Requests for donations must be limited to the Mod website or distribution site and not appear within the Mod gameplay itself.
• Donors may not be provided with any in-game special advantages, such as private access to a Mod, special levels, graphical markers, special text, abilities, units, maps, etc. That is, all users must be able to play the same Mods without having to pay extra to do so.
• Donors that are corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, etc., cannot be listed in the credits section of a Mod; only individuals may be listed.

Respect the rights of others: Your Mods must not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or other intellectual property right of any third party and will not include content that is unlawful, tortious, defamatory, obscene, invasive of the privacy of another person, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, racist or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate. EA requires that Mods not include any material that would not be allowed under the age ratings for any applicable C&C game(s). The C&C franchise usually has an age rating of ESRB T (Teen) and PEGI 16+, and similar ratings from other ratings boards around the world.

No EA affiliation: You must include the following statement prominently at the top of your website and in at least one root-level license file in any source-code repositories for your project (e.g., a README file or equivalent): “EA has not endorsed and does not support this product.” Do not promote your Mod in a way that suggests that it’s endorsed or approved by or affiliated with EA in any manner. Do not use EA artwork, logos or trademarks (including game logo treatments, the names Electronic Arts, EA or “Command & Conquer” or the logos or names) to promote your Mod. However, you may state that your Mod is for Command & Conquer and/or for a specific C&C game or expansion pack in the franchise (e.g., “Command & Conquer,” “Tiberian Dawn,” “Red Alert,” “Renegade,” “Generals,” and/or “Kane’s Wrath,” as applicable).

Safety & integrity: Your Mods must not jeopardize the integrity of the gameplay or harm the experience of others and must not interfere with or disrupt any of EA’s services, servers or networks, such as by introducing malware or by circumventing any of EA’s content protection measures for its services. To maintain the integrity of C&C and ensure the best possible gaming experience for our players, EA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revoke permission to use, distribute or make Mods at any time, to disable any Mod within C&C and to take disciplinary action against players who take part in any of these activities.

Intellectual property ownership; license from EA: C&C assets, including game code, art, music, and all other content, are and shall remain the sole and exclusive property of EA (the “C&C Assets”). To the extent any C&C Assets are used in Mods, EA grants the Mod creator a revocable, limited, non-exclusive, non-commercial license to use the C&C Assets solely in connection with, and as a part of, the Mod and subject to the terms of this Policy. Your Mod must not include any music files from any C&C games. EA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revoke this license at any time.

Abide by all other EA rules: These guidelines supplement and don’t supersede any other EA rules that apply to your Mod, including the GPL license terms and conditions under which we have distributed our C&C Remastered Collection DLL source code and the EA User Agreement, which are specifically incorporated into this Policy. Hi @AC_02. Cheers for your question!

We're not planning on adding any units from Renegade 2, but you might see other units that weren't in Red Alert 2, if that makes sense? Units like the Technician and Supply Trucks.

AR is based entirely on Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.
