  1. I have splitted the side-discussion into another topic here. Glad that finally got fixed! Dave I'd kinda like to know about your ION cannon episode lol but this probably isn't the topic for that. Also nice banshee! I tend to agree that the W3D engine was "made" for this niche type of gaming. As has been mentioned multiple times, many of the features we use are unique to our engine. So unless someone wants to make a totally new engine that retains all the functionality of ours, PLUS some extra to account for the hacks we've had to make throughout the years, PLUS support for better renders and such, its plain to me that we've chosen wisely in sticking with what already contains the most functions that our dev team would otherwise have to code themselves on another engine. The quicker the engine is functioning on the level we need it to, the quicker the devs can work on the actual game stuff without having to worry if something will blow up or not. My humble opinion, take with a grain of salt.
  2. Most android devices run ARM processors, which means they need totally different code from a PC. Computers on the other hand, usually have x86-based processors. The difference is called architecture, otherwise known as instruction set. In other words, code compiled for use on a PC running Windows can be changed a little and made compatible with Mac OS and Linux also, because they all share the same architecture. However, android devices (excluding some virtual machines), use entirely different processor types and therefore require the code to be written and compiled in a totally different way in order to run. That being said, I am not a developer and I have no say in what the teams here do but I do know that these facts have somewhat discouraged efforts towards things like this. I think it would be great to be able to play all the W3D mods on android. I'm a droid fanboy myself. But without an additional dedicated team whose specific purpose was to make this happen, I personally don't believe it would be plausable. But hey, lets hear what the devs have to say. Again, I am not one.
  3. Moar WIP pls. Everything looks great DP. I'd sure love to see more updates on this type thing! Keep up the good work man!
  4. An update on my new job. I work at Tiffin Motorhomes in RedBay Alabama. It is a multi-campus factory that manufactures the big motorhomes you see the rich old people using. It employs over 1500 people, about 350 of which are computer users. For all this, there are 3 IT guys.....lol. I've been here 4 and a half weeks now and so far it has been very enjoyable. Not that my old job wasn't at times....just that this one is full time with benefits and such They appear to like me here. If I ask where the (insert any tool or piece of equipment here) is and we don't have one, the boss basically asks me what kind I want him to order... I could definitely get used to that! He's a big fan of getting things done and is willing to spend some money to make it happen. That, and the fact that everyone works as a team without bickering and gossip/slander, makes the job experience here as a whole an enjoyable one. I have learned a valuable lesson by starting work here and I'll share it so maybe someone else can benefit from it: I almost did not apply for this position. It is on the very edge of how far I was willing to drive to work. It is in another state (which slightly complicates my tax stuff). The pay was...good...but actually a little below what the "normal" starting rate is for someone with my qualifications. It all seemed a little too....low end (?) I guess for what I was looking for initially. But I decided to take it anyway because I figured that some money is better than no money. It was almost a move based on my gut. But it worked out great and I learned after I was hired that they raise pay regularly based on job performance! We get evaluated by our superiors and if they like what they see, hello more money! I also found out after I started that they will not only allow me to continue schooling, but will pay for around 95% of it! I am salary but still get over-time x1.5 as well as hourly comp time. All this is very valuable to me. I guess that the point I'm trying to illustrate is that for those of you searching for a job: don't be afraid to take a position a little or even much "lower" than where you expect to end up working, or even where you are qualified to work. You have to climb the ladder. Experience is extremely important and the only way you can gain this is by working a job that doesn't require any or as much experience. I was told after I was hired that the selection process was narrowed to me and another guy that had just finished school. We had extremely similar qualifications....but he had no experience versus my 5+ years in the field. This was the tie breaker. So if a job comes along that is doable for you but might not be exaclty what you are looking for, don't be afraid to at least try it. Worst case scenario, you don't like it and have to resign. Not a huge deal really. But if you never try "lower end" jobs and never get your foot in the door, you greatly decrease your chances of ending up where you might want to be. I'll quit preaching now
  5. I assume these are cooked first yes? I've never tried quail eggs but have wanted to for a while.
  6. 18 wallychuckwood loads. Your math is invalid. Also hai Dommo! Good to see you again!
  7. Gotcha. Yeah that would make for a pretty good avatar. What game is that Omar?
  8. Exactly what i was thinking actually....
  9. What browser are you using? My droid browser looks slightly different...but it also looks like you might be using a 5.x build as well. All my stuff is at 4.4.x
  10. That looks awesome! I shall definitely be trying this one.
  11. Update: I started my new job monday and it is going well so far. I am "level 1 IT support" on paper but at this place we all just work together to make it all work. Lots of hodge-podge systems to deal with but everyone is nice and all seem to have good work ethic. I think its going to work out great
  12. Tell her it turns you on JK thats a bad idea. Also geekery is now a word. I deem it so. I guess I'll drag my 386 out and post a pic or two but its several years newer (inherently less cool) than your Acorn.
  13. You nerd! *bows to nerd* Also nice find!
  14. Yes it would! But I'm afraid that there's a lot of things that would need to be worked out before this would be possible. Unfortunately, getting a game put on steam isn't as simple as just uploading them your game for download. But I agree that if these projects could make it on steam, it would definitely help us gain some popularity.
  15. Welcome to W3D Hub and back to the wonderful world of C&C! We're glad you decided to join us. Reborn isn't independent again per se, but rather just at a different home. But since the recent move, it has experienced a phenomenal progression in development, along with some of the other projects we have here. It has us all rather excited Anyways, see you ingame! And nice sig btw
  16. It would be an interesting crate unit in the final version though :
  17. Never attempt bank robbery if you are dyslexic. Also, did any of you hear about the dyslexic agnostic who kept himself awake all night pondering the concept of doG..?
  18. That would be the Soviet mascot: Skaty Perry.
  19. Thats awesome OWA! I played in a jazz band in high school that did improv stuff and it was one of the most fun musical experiences I had. Does your group play gigs?
  20. If you laugh, this is delta's fault. Video
  21. As long as you can get working hardware, the OS isn't hard to install nowadays. Even the really old ones. Hold on, i might actually have some old hardware i would part with.......
  22. AMC has a new show called Halt and Catch Fire that premiered on June 1, 2014. It depicts the dawn of the age of the personal computer. I was reminded of this when I saw Shnappz post something about liking retro-looking computers in the Alien: Isolation thread. Anyway, its an interesting show. Check it out on IMDB here. It is available on AMC and Netflix.
  23. Hello and congratulations on being accepted into the testing program! You'll notice that you have access to a subforum called "W3D Hub Testing". You'll find everything testing related there. Also take care to only discuss testing or beta-related topics within that subforum and not in the others. Feel free to PM me or any of the other moderators / staff / admins with any questions you might have. Thanks!
