  1. Greetings! We are currently in the early stages of implementing a new launcher feature which will allow players to automatically download, install and update their favourite game modifications and are looking for community submissions to form the basis of our opening day library of mods. Initially we are only accepting submissions for Tiberian Sun: Reborn modifications which meet the following criteria; Must be compatible with the official TSR game server Must NOT exist soely to provide an advantage over other players Must only contain files which go into the data folder for the game May contain textures May contain sounds / music May contain strings.tdb (ie: a language pack) Must NOT contain ini files Must NOT contain mix/pkg files Must NOT contain model replacements (new models that don't replace any existing model is OK) To submit a mod for consideration, please provide the following; A zip archive containing all the data files used by your mod A name and description for your mod A screenshot showcasing your mod Optionally you can provide a version number, if you choose not to we will label it as version 1.0. Version numbers must be numeric and consist of between 2 and 4 numeric parts. Only the content creator can submit content and all submitted content will remain the property of the creator. The content creator will be clearly credited in the mods browser and will have the ability to update their mod in future via a web based interface. If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to ask
  2. I don't think bear island is part of ECW, I believe it is a standard Renegade map.
  3. Do you have the time of day changing in ECW by the way? I notice some of those shots have different sky colours and whatnot, which I thought were static for a level.
  4. This is indeed true and I'd recommend whitelisting websites you use regularly in AdBlock to allow them to make their money. Sadly far too many sites push intrusive adverts that gobble up lots of bandwidth and get in your way when browsing.
  5. I thought it might be interesting to have somewhere to share and discuss useful browser addons people are using. I'll kick things off with my personal "standard" set of Firefox extensions; Ghostery Blocks cross site tracking cookies and some other forms of privacy invasion. Very easy to use configuration panel for deciding which things you'd like to block / allow (I personally default to blocking everything and specifically allow the few things I want to use) NoScript Prevent websites running Javascript code unless you explicily authorise them to do so. Quite useful from a security perspective (malicious javascript code won't even execute, helping to protect from viruses) and also tends to mop up some of the more annoying forms of adverisement ('floating' advert boxes etc). Note: It can be a bit of a pain having to manually whitelist sites you actually want to use (since a lot of sites just stop working entirely without JavaScript) so this isn't necessaraily for the casual web surfer. If you're serious about your web privacy and security though it's well worth the effort and one time inconvenience per website. AdBlock Plus Blocks a lot of advertisements using a blacklist which you can extend yourself. Updates constantly with new advert definitions. Note: By default this comes with a whitelist of "good" adverts enabled by default. If you want to eliminate as many adverts as possible I'd suggest disabling the whitelist (which is easy to do). Self Destructing Cookies A simple addon that erases all cookies from a website once you've closed the tab or navigated to a different website. You can whitelist specific websites to keep their cookies for the duration of your browser session or forever for those websites you want to stay logged into. Very useful for the privacy concious web surfer. Lazarus Simple addon that (securely) saves what you type into web-forums as you're typing it. Extremely useful for those times when you write a huge forum post and firefox / your ISP / the forum itself decide to have a hissy fit and your post vanishes into the ether. Simply right click -> Recover Form and you can resubmit your post. And some tools that are more useful to web developers; Firebug Extremely powerful tool for inspecting and editing live web pages and debugging javascript code. No web developer targetting Firefox should be without Firebug in my opinion.
  6. The languages I've worked with the most; C++ C# Java Perl Delphi (pre .NET) SQL / T-SQL TypeScript (object oriented JavaScript) PHP Languages I've dabbled in (and not forgotten); Ruby Python ASP Oz Lua
  7. Do steam even allow you to ship games for free? They certainly can't charge money for RenX since it is built on EA intellectual property... and given that EA already refuse to put the C&C franchise on Steam I wouldn't be surprised if they would block any effort to put even a free game based on C&C onto Steam.
  8. I'll resurrect my old wwskin tutorial for tank tracks, I think it's still up to date with the latest techniques.
  9. Proxies are a powerful way to add buildings, walls, defences, etc to your maps and have them accurately placed. Only downside to adding walls and defences this way is that it requires terrian re-exporting if you want to tweak the positions of the defences, whilst LE placed ones can just be dragged around as necessary. (Note: Yes, I am aware you can move proxied objects if you unlock them, but they snap back to their original locations if you subsequently reload the LE project.)
  10. I don't know why the launcher would crash, but if you can upload the documents/w3d hub/launcher/errors.log file I could have a look and see what is causing that for you. As for the version mismatch, I assume you're joining the BHP APB server? For whatever reason they've not updated their version of APB to the latest, try joining the unofficial SG server instead for APB.
  11. Yeah, I can see it fine, some good suggestions there. If it's still not showing for you tomorrow give me a shout and I'll kick at things until it does
  12. That taxiway light contrasts sharply against the lo-res terrain behind it, although I'm guessing the terrain looks perfectly good from flight altitude. It might be over detailed for it's purpose but it looks good... are those bolt heads on the base also modelled out rather than textured on? It's hard to tell from the angle but it looks like they are.
  13. You're welcome. We remain open to working together with BHP to push the boundaries of the W3D engine. Ball is in your court.
  14. Is this for use in flight simulators? The quality looks amazing, do you actually go and look around the real planes to get all the fine details right?
  15. That'll motivate you to get the post count back up then lol
  16. The problem is that FoV in W3D is per-camera type, which means there is no such thing as a universal modifiable value. I wonder how hard it would be to add a slider that scales ALL FoV values in cameras.ini by a percentage, so the middle would be 100% and you can scale from 80% to 120% or something.....
  17. Welcome to our new home
  18. Pyryle has been working hard over at Bluehell Productions to release a major overhaul of APB 2.1.3 to fill the void whilst we wait for the new 2.2 version. Some of the major changes include the following; APB now utilizes Scripts 4.2 Phase Tanks/stealth units are now properly detected by defenses Several vehicles have had their physics redone Updated Purchase Terminal icons for several units Additional balance changes. For a detailed list of changes see the official announcement topic on the BHP forums
  19. We are pleased to announce a new modding and community hub for all W3D games and associated spin-off games. The site has been founded by several prominent members of the W3D modding community and will provide a range of services to our members regardless of their game and community affiliations. W3D Hub Services W3D Hub Launcher The W3D Hub launcher is a one-stop shop for your W3D gaming needs, providing game downloads and automatic updating, an integrated server browser, centralized management of in-game options and many other features. As one of our core products we will continue to evolve this service and add new and exciting features in the future, such as a server chat lobby and buddy lists. W3D Hub Stats Whilst we appreciate that many communities and servers already run their own stats service, we believe there is still a great deal more that can be done to improve stats in the W3D community. To this end we are developing a brand new stats system which is more tightly coupled with the game server engine and provides more in depth stats than ever before, all linked directly to your W3DHub user account regardless of which username you choose to use in-game, or even which server you play in (as long as they run our stats system, optionally alongside their own).Whilst many of the details are still being worked on and finalized, here is a short list of the features we are hoping to offer Cross-game stats integrated into a single stats profile Detailed breakdown of stats on a per game, per map, per team or even per match level for any player Achievements linked directly to in-game actions Rich support for clans (aggregating clan stats from all members, both in total and average per player) Leaderboards for both individuals and clans Query interface for generating signature images / integrating into your own community website (example usage: host a competition and track scores based on game sessions in your own servers) Server Deployment Also in development is a new server deployment tool which will allow server hosts to install, update and manage their servers and the bots which are installed upon them. More details on this will be announced once they are available. W3D Modding & Development As you might expect from a community founded by modders, there will be a lot of modding related activity in the community. We will offer modding support to any individual or group who wants to work with the W3D engine, including tutorials, FAQs and forum based support for anything W3D. In House Games Popular W3D games *Tiberian Sun: Reborn*, *Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising* and *Battle for Dune* will be developed by our in-house development team. Third Party Studios Third party development studios will be welcome to apply for hosting on our services, including forum areas, access to our launcher system (including the ability to upload new versions and manage access to your test builds using W3D Hub user account groups) and integrating custom achievements in our stats system. As a hub of the W3D community we will provide all such services for free and aim to ensure that all of our services are impartial and treat third party studio content in exactly the same way as that of our own in house studio.
  20. Someone needs to actually find them and make sure they're exported properly... there is a specific x,y,z offset for the infantry one for instance. I have no idea where those files are at the moment, hence why I used the AR ones.
  21. We're trying NOT to copy the AR veterany system verbatim...
  22. Veterancy points are awarded purely based on damage, you can earn points and promotions even if the thing you're shooting runs away and heals itself. The actual kill counts for nothing in the vetetancy system. You earn vehicle veterancy whilst driving a vehicle, but currently these are useless as vehicles cannot be promoted yet. This will come in a future patch.
