The battlefield is a warzone, so that argument doesn't really hold, it's likely that you'd find such assets lying about wherever. Plus I did say for the larger maps, KOTG is a prime example where there's plenty of neglected spaces and just general emptiness. Same for Pipeline and RidgeWar especially. I really have a difficult time in understanding at where the positioning of a neutral supply truck would in anyway affect the balance (granted they're not obviously in or just outside your base). In fact, even if that was the case, I'd make them first spawn in as partially damaged to emphasis that again, it's a warzone.

I'm largely on the fence about this change. Whilst I saw the problem, it does penalise slower infantry out in the field, particularly when you are further away from a neutral track or from your base. I can see this change also leading to the destruction or even camping of these supply trucks from now on. Could it be possible, at least for larger maps to include a third neutral truck so that slower infantry stand more of a chance being able to survive? Personally I have been trying several times to bring a supply truck whenever a large force is about to assault the enemy base. Either way, it's too early to tell yet.

Apocalypse Rising AR :: December 2016 Update
JigglyJie replied to Apocalypse Rising Team's topic in Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising
Oh yes... But everything looks so neat that I can't wait to try this someday! But a question (though I assume for the sake of balance) that the Desolator deploy ability won't affect team mates this time around? Another thing that I wonder about, whilst the internal structures of this game look great and more 'expansive' I often worry whether or not it'll be more difficult to repair since you'd be running around the place trying to find the central hub? Or do these minor weak points also serve as a repair hub? -
Probably what you mentioned I'm guessing. Not to mention releases of Mental Omega and Rise of the Reds 1.87 Open Beta for those who like the Generals scene, would've also taken up other people's times. (if you have an SWR account, feel free to download it!) Me personally I haven't been active in APB as much due to testing commitments of ROTR 1.87 though I do check this forum frequently and participate wherever possible. (we do actually have an APB topic on our forums!) Perhaps a newish one could be arranged early 2017 time?
-
Happened last night, the first I have no idea how that happened, I just spawned and noticed a floating destroyer in our yard... The second has been happening quite frequently, never noticed it before this patch, though.

A few minor notes. I don't have any images to back this up, but a stolen enemy Hind was able to attack and nearly destroy the Soviet Helipad despite there being three operational SAM Sites there. I thought that was a little ridiculous considering but whether that was kind of intended or not, I'm not sure. I feel the AA in the bases are a little cramped, and I personally find it hard how a Hind can avoid that scenario? I also feel the medieval cannons repair a tad too fast. Some Allied Engineer was in one and I attacked it with a Hind, I was doing good damage but he hopped out and was outrepairing me and I was effectively hopeless, even a second Hind came along and was struggling to bring it down but we managed to destroy it in the end. As far as I know, Longbows don't have a problem with it considering the amount of raw damage they dish out. (though I could be wrong) On the subject of cannons, I assume the cannon plays a central role here in (obviously) besieging the enemy base but I think a minor, infantry path leading to the enemy base would be neat (unless I'm blind and there is one, I haven't fully explored it). I tried sneaking in the Allied base but failed because the Pillbox spotted me. That or make the water not too deep closest to the defences? Granted that was my real first playthrough so it's not a big deal currently.

Was a little boring, not many people were on and were constantly on and off and by the time the event started, only 8-10 people were there. Was really hoping for a large game, especially for Siege! Bugs also kind of dampened the Allied team on HostileWaters. Though I did have a fantastic game on Siege, managed to turn in what was becoming a hopeless Soviet loss into a Soviet win thanks to that cannon. (Sammyd was actually helpful there!)

Is this something you do ingame or something? First I've heard of this. o.O Did you try Democratic People's Republic of Korea?

Donald Trump is the next president of the USA
JigglyJie replied to Jeod's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Regarding Brexit, we still don't know yet. The government is facing numerous legal challenges and it's threatening the United Kingdom as a whole, as we speak. The Welsh don't particularly care, the Northern Irish are on the fence but the Scottish and Scottish Nationalist Party(SNP) are making moves to keep Britain and/or Scotland at least in the Single Market or if failing that Scotland will go for another independence vote. The British union as a whole is on thin ice. The Pound Sterling plummeted following Brexit (much like how Trump's win has caused the Mexican Peso to fall) and the Bank of England to slash interest rates but since the recent High Court ruling that Parliament must be allowed to scrutinise Brexit, the Pound has rose sharply. Britain and Germany are huge trading partners and a hard Brexit will hurt us both, not to mention other EU member states. It's uncertain whether our economy has truly been affected (despite the government basically saying lols you'll be fine) but like Trump's win, chaos has ensued. -
Donald Trump is the next president of the USA
JigglyJie replied to Jeod's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
From a British point of view, I think it's a disaster. As a woman, I find his comments about women in general to be pretty appalling(wtf even about his own daughter?!), but enough about that. As a European, I also find it worrisome at how he'd consider nuking Europe over the whole Syria/ISIS/Muslim issue, even if he doesn't end up doing that, it's still worrying at how a man of that calibre gets access to the nuclear codes. I know both the Democratic and Republican parties have numerous stances on equality and gay marriage but I find his Vice-President's, Mike Pence, stance to be completely stupid and just plain dumb. He thinks that HIV research should be de-funded and the money used for gay conversion therapy. Jesus Christ on a bike, let that sink in for a moment... but at least he actually won't be able to do that, thankfully. Hillary was also a terrible option, she failed before and nobody really wanted her still. Even if she won her mandate wouldn't last, we all knew she had health problems and was trying her hardest to hide it from the public. Not to mention I completely found it irritating at how she kept claiming it was time for America to have a female president, at how they needed a woman in charge. Well I say this from across the pond, we had Margaret Thatcher and she was HORRIBLE, now we have Cruella de May in charge! It matters not what gender a person is, it matters what their policies are and whether they can run a country, but I digress. The safer options for the Democrats would've been to nominate Sanders. He would've given Trump a run for his money. (addendum, Larry Sanders, Bernies' brother tried to contest the Witney seat here as a Green Party candidate but lost, he was originally a member of the Labour Party under Tony Blair but left because of him.) That being said, things aren't so great here. At least America went through the whole election process, Theresa May got in through the backdoor. Funny thing about that, back in 2007 she accused Gordon Brown not having the mandate to lead and demanded an election, now suddenly the tables have turned. Now with Brexit, Trump's presidency and with more elections coming up in Europe, particularly the chance for Le Pen to win in France and Geert Wilders in The Netherlands, prospects are not that bright but at least these elections is one thing, it's a big middle finger to the established political elite. -
Was finding a suitable place to deploy my MRJ but little did I know, that area has an immediate slope and this happened. Needless to say, the Soviet team couldn't find me. x)

The (non) Construction Yard as it stands is just a magnet for point whoring because it's a rather large structure and has a boatload of health. I would like to keep the current mechanic but I also like the idea of it being able to "rebuild" structures. I think it is worth a shot in trying to implement and experiment with this mechanic. For example, if a team loses say their Refinery, their chances of winning and indeed survival is greatly reduced but if your Construction Yard is alive, perhaps there could be a 'timer' of some sort that would bring the building back online. Another similar idea would be that the CY would allow players to pool their credits at a terminal to allow the reconstruction, this would also be time-limited so players cannot just constantly rebuy. I personally think minor defences such as Flame Towers or Pillboxes should utilise this mechanic as well but not Tesla Coils or Gap Generators. You may ask 'but JigglyJie, wouldn't this devalue attacking and promote camping?' Not at all. All buildings would have their separate timers and/or credit threshold. Not to mention these buildings would still be down so the attackers could go straight for the heart and shut down the CY completely, the enemy team would be in chaos in trying to make sense of what's happening, not to mention the potential point lead. However I think it would also reduce the possibility of people leaving once a Refinery goes down, the Silo addition whilst nice, doesn't solve the problem. Granted this could have some flaws and other questions, heck I don't even know if this would be even possible but I think it's an idea worth exploring.

Apocalypse Rising AR :: October 2016 Update
JigglyJie replied to Apocalypse Rising Team's topic in Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising
If I remember correctly the Spy in RA2 also functioned like a thief. How will this be handled/balanced? Will they be limited or something else? -
Just as long as APCs (and Rangers) don't get a range increase. We don't need Beta times where they outranged coils... That being said, I like the idea of the APC being more than just an armoured Ranger, an autocannon could be an interesting weapon to experiment. Like, the Ranger could be your fast assault vehicle capable of unleashing a barrage of bullets whereas the APC would be a bit more conservative but also more capable of being more than just a mere transport. As for Medics, I'd rather they be left alone for now. They now have that happy medium where they can defend themselves, at least against softer targets if need be, but not ridiculous to the point where they were kind of TOO good like they were back in Gamma/early Delta.

I would love the Beta SVD to return, I liked how it was different. A return can be warranted considering how sniping is different now. It only sucked because it had piss-poor accuracy and no bonus headshot damage. Some of that was rectified in the following versions but the Allied one was always supreme because it was an instant kill. Plus V sniping and other jazz included.
-
No, because back then they ruined infantry combat. Maps where war factories were down and you couldn't do pretty much anything in terms of assaulting the enemy base because a sniper appeared and went NOPE.avi to your assault. Then there was the typical sniper kill whore who refused to buy anything or help the team in proper ways apart from just kill whoring. It was even worse when the SVD was statistically different from the Enfield, I liked how the SVD was different but the Allied one was an instant kill, the Soviets might as well have just given up. I still detest snipers but they're a lot better now, I guess...

Balance Is the Shottie too OP for its price?
JigglyJie replied to des1206's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
For the things this unit can do at this price? Yes. Decent anti-vehicle? Yep. Excellent anti-infantry? Yep. Speedy as well as have extra health and armour? Yep. Great anti-structure? Sure. He can even deal do decent damage to aircraft. Granted he can't do much about defences but that is minor. The point is, this unit is a bit too cheap for all the things he is capable of doing. -
A Path Beyond Your preferred APB Units
JigglyJie replied to SilverShark's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
Allied Infantry; Medic - I just like the MP5 he has. Healing is cool too. Soviet Infantry; Shock Trooper - Had to think on it for a few moments but this unit can be quite versatile if you know how to use him well, plus I prefer the raw damage he has. Allied Vehicles; Demo Truck - boom. Soviet Vehicles; Demo Truck - more boom. Aerial; Hind - I don't often purchase helicopters because they're a bit squishy in general but I'd go for the Hind since it has the ability to stay in combat for longer. Naval; Missile Sub - Red October standing by! I just like it, looks cool. -
A Path Beyond Making MAD Tank more viable
JigglyJie replied to Pushwall's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
You cannot use this argument because A-bombs don't harm friendlies at all. List goes on... -
A Path Beyond Making MAD Tank more viable
JigglyJie replied to Pushwall's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
Yes. That or a reduction in friendly fire. I rarely bother with MADs because a Demo often does a better job, not to mention MADs require 3 people at the very least and manpower is precious enough as it is. -
Discuss Hostile Waters gameplay feedback and bug report thread
JigglyJie replied to Einstein's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
The idea with that was, if you lost the Barracks you weren't entirely screwed. You could make the repair tool 'capture' really slowly so that escorts must be brought or if possible, only allow such tools to work after losing your Barracks. I also think the removal of the neutral SAMS were a bad idea, because of the nimble frame of the Longbow, it's easier for the Allies to just waltz on in and capture stuff and tail back without taking much damage in the process. The Soviets don't have this advantage because Hinds are slow and tracking works almost all the time on them. it's Longbow central when it's under Allied control. But I guess a lot of it could just be down to teammates who don't like to listen.- 48 replies

Discuss Hostile Waters gameplay feedback and bug report thread
JigglyJie replied to Einstein's topic in W3D Hub Discussion
Was the idea of repair tools being able to capture stuff dropped in the end? Also, the naval building gives 2/s but feels a bit too slow... why not make a 3/s?- 48 replies

I came at the top 5? Huh, I was on and off as I had to attend to an internal ROTR stream but nice regardless, I suppose. (:

I remember in Gamma where mines used to have a texture but got removed shortly afterwards. In Delta the texture returned so I assume it's safe to say it's been fixed. How did it get fixed and could this be applied here for the people who have fps problems? As for the topic, no frame rate issues here other than the one in Hostile Waters right before the match ended, which EVERYONE felt.

Does it, by any chance you leave it for a while and then try booting it up again it it shows the screen for a split second before shutting off completely? If so (and I could be wrong) but that's exactly what my older PC did, which turned out the motherboard short circuited. There's usually a distinct smell when that happens, noticed anything like that? If not, then no idea sorry, just thought I'd pop in and share.
