  1. Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I am here to inform you all about some unfortunate news. Our friend and well known C&C community member Zee (AKA Zee Hypnotist / Rabbit), has sadly and unexpectedly passed away. I have been Zee's best friend for many years, but have only recently been informed of this myself through those closer to him, such as relevant family. However, this news is not very new I'm afraid. Due to communication difficulties as a result of Zee heading off to build his nearly off-grid dream life closer to nature and farmland, it is only reaching us now, more than a year after the fact. Zee had retired from the C&C community and wanted to live life onwards without any ties to his previous projects and environments (at least for now), in order to fully focus on new long-term adventures that made him feel happy and fulfilled in life, which was respected. Thus, this tragic news has had a hard time reaching back to us. But here it is. For those of you who don't know, or would appreciate a reminder, Zee was a veteran C&C community member with two decades of service in voluntarily supporting all things Command & Conquer, most notably through his work in communities such as CNCNZ and W3D Hub. He participated in official EA C&C summits, worked on a huge amount of creative projects, and was an active modder, mapper and overall game developer. But what he is most well known for is definitely the popular C&C Legos stop motion animation series, hosted on CNCNZ and his (now inactive) personal YouTube channel. Zee was a very creative person, and did his best to bring a lot of inspiration, joy and laughter to anyone interested in his work. Even during some very tough times he rarely spoke about online. Although he had his fair share of struggles in life, and did not always handle things the best way, he had a very caring heart and loved seeing people enjoy the things he had created or worked on. He wasn't a perfect person by any means, but he didn't try to be, instead opting to stay true to himself as much as he could, with all aspects of his personality, both good and bad, percieved or otherwise. If asked to say something at this point in time, I think he would have told everyone here, as he had told me some time ago, that it is important to be grateful and cherish the friendships and opportunities life gives you, as you may never run into them again. He was very appreciative of all the support he had gotten from the C&C community over the years, and was always happy to give back to the community through his creativity. His entire style of doing so revolved around comedy and making people laugh, sometimes in crude and even stupid ways. He did a lot of experimenting, testing, and pushing the boundaries of what he already knew how to accomplish, which is something I personally loved to take in and feel motivated by as well, especially when feeling stuck or too set in my own ways, and I hope many of you got some of that energy from his work too. Zee was full of ideas, and did his best to learn new things and act on them to realization, regardless of if the results of his efforts turned out as perfectly as imagined, as they rarely did. And this was a big part of his charm and why people loved his work, because he was never afraid to make mistakes or show things that were not as good as he would have liked. He worked with what he had and learned by doing. And in the process taught and inspired others by example. Freely sharing the ups and downs of the process. And for that, Zee, I thank you. Lastly, I think Zee would have wanted everyone here to fondly remember all of the good, and if possible, to forget the bad with time. Followed by some improvised humor to leave us with a weird but cheeky smile in the end, naturally. I hope that helps you all with processing everything. Thanks for everything Zee, sincerely. You already know this, but I'll miss you a lot. I'll remember what you taught me. Thanks for being my friend. ... Now, for those of you wondering, I have taken on the role of being the custodian of many of Zee's old files and projects, for safe keeping in remembrance, as well as other purposes. He always trusted me with a lot of access, and we worked on many things together. Which means that I'll make sure his work (such as the C&C Legos series) stays up online if things ever go down in the future. Not sure how exactly just yet, but if anything should happen, please contact me and I'll see what I can do from my archives. I'm making sure to treat his stuff with respect and in a way he would very likely approve of. That said, I unfortunately do not have some videos and project files that were either still in development on his end, or were temporarily archived until a future return or continuation opportunity came about. These missing assets include random stuff like test versions of games, maps or mods, as well as episodes of Blue Team Go and Bert & Nick, which some of you might have watched alongside the C&C Legos series. And other notable things he was working on or had left in an unfinished state. If anyone has any of Zee's work backed up or saved for personal use or viewing, please contact me if you would like to help me fill in the missing pieces. It would mean a lot to me, and would help honor his memory. I am considering releasing some things in the future, and respectfully repurposing others, but I need to take inventory and track various missing assets down first, if at all possible. As well as let a bit of time pass to process everything mentally and emotionally (as the news hit me pretty hard), with all that has happened, but it's an idea. I will think it over. Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has anything to send over. So thank you. ... Finally, if anyone would like to say a few words about Zee or your time with him or his creative content, say thank you or goodbye, or anything else you might want to respectfully express and share with us, please feel free to do so in this thread. Realization of loss is never easy, so if anyone needs to, lean on your friends or the community to support you. It's okay to feel things. You are not alone in feeling this way. I will probably update this thread in the future with links and any other relevant announcements, if applicable. Thank you for your time, and please take good care of yourselves in light of this heavy news if it affects you.
  2. Hey guys! With the success of APB Madness in the forums, I noticed that a few other W3D Hubbers create YouTube content! If you create YouTube content (Or stream for that matter), plug your channel in this thread and I'll put it in this first post so we can get a master list going! Of course I must start with shameless self-promotion of my horrible, Windows Movie Maker, and generally bad gameplay! 4. Last updated 2020-09-24 (tested on wine 5.16 and W3Dhl: 0.11.2.1) Summary: The W3D engine itself (in current game releases) has no compatibility issues on Wine, the games are click and play. Some games that use older versions of scripts (ECW) require a simple workaround to get working. The W3D Hub launcher itself requires some non-obvious workarounds to get working (as detailed further down in this post). New renderer (scripts 5.x games) do not perform as well as of the time of writing. (lower framerates). EDIT: this is now in a lot of flux, both in the engine and the Linux graphics driver world. Things are a lot better. Introduction For years I have run Renegade and other Windows games using Wine on Linux. Wine's compatibility is reasonably impressive, but recent dotnet versions and DRM in popular games are known headaches or showstoppers. The W3Dhub launcher uses a recent version of dotnet and WPF, making it problematic. Wine lets you run Windows programs on Linux. It's not an emulator, it doesn't have to be (we're all on x86), instead it provides a userspace compatible with Windows (dlls, services, etc) so Windows programs can be run natively. Once wine is installed you can double-click on EXEs and they'll run. Wine can be installed on any major Linux distro through your relevant package manager. W3D Hub Launcher Download and run the W3Dhub installer as you normally would. I've ordered these problems based on the order I think you will encounter them. Prerequisite: Wine 4.0 or later Make sure you are running an up to date copy of wine: $ wine --version wine-4.0 Many distributions (eg Ubuntu, Mint, Debian) ship out of date copies of Wine. These will not allow dotnet and the W3Dhub launcher to operate correctly. Manually install a copy of Wine Stable if you have to. Problem 1: The W3Dhub installer hangs when it tries to install dotnet. Workaround: Kill the dotnet installer process. The W3DHub launcher won't notice the failure and will continue normally. Install winetricks. Your distro should have winetricks in its package manager. Use winetricks to install dotnet461: $ winetricks dotnet461 Installing 461 will take quite some time: various versions of dotnet have to be installed in a certain order to get there. In my case one of the steps hung because I had other Wine applications open ("Waiting for all wine applications to close"), so I had to manually close some other Windows applications I was using. Problem 2: (updated!) Graphical glitches in the launcher and drop-down menus misbehaving Workaround: open a terminal and run this command: wine reg add "HKCU\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Avalon.Graphics" /v DisableHWAcceleration /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f This forces WPF to use software rendering, as detailed in Wine bug 49055. This will not affect your game, only the launcher (and other WPF apps). Problem 3: Extremely poor framerate/performance, even in game menus This is a common symptom seen by people using 64 bit Linux distros that don't come with the necessary libraries for 32 bit graphics acceleration. As a result your system uses slow software rendering for 32-bit games. On Debian based distros (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc) you need to install several packages: $ sudo apt-get install libglx-mesa0:i386 (other packages?) TODO: find the full list of packages that need installing, or a source to link to. Nag me if you need help here, even if it's years in the future Problem 4: DXSETUP fails to run when installing a game Workaround: ignore. Appears to be harmless. Problem 5: Expansive Civilian Warfare (ECW) crashes on start with a "please report this error" dialog ECW came from an era of scripts/shaders where some directx8->directx9 conversions were being performed using a 'thunk' dll. Wine (by default) ignores any game-provided or microsoft-provided d3d8.dll and instead uses it's own version. Workaround: Open up winecfg and add a native override for d3d8.dll: Additionally: this workaround may affect or break some other games. Change it to '"Builtin (Wine)" to disable the fix. Thankyou to the members of the WineHQ community for providing the fix . Problem 6: Screen is left looking bright (or dark) after a game is closed. The W3D engine changes your screen/card gamma settings when the game is launched, but it does not always to restore them back when you close the game. Some Windows users also (used to?) experience this. Workaround: reset your gamma. A simple way on the command line: xgamma -gamma 1.0 Alternative workaround: set all of the brightness/contrast/gamma sliders in the in-game settings to 1.0 or 0.0 (as appropriate). This will make the game use a gamma of 1.0, making things appear darker overall but also ensuring a strange gamma level is not left when you close the game. Technically this also "improves" the image quality by avoiding colour crushing, so it's my preferred fix. Problem 7: Mouse problems: limited aiming angles, mouse leaves game, sluggish or slow mouse movement Cause 1: "borderless windowed mode" is not well supported. Workaround: Choose "fullscreen" or "windowed" mode instead for the game settings. Cause 2: external applications running, eg screenshot utilities when you press PrintScreen. Workaround: press Esc to enter the pause menu, then esc again to return back to game. The game will grab the mouse back properly again. The problem of 'limited mouse movement', where you feel that your mouse has been constrained in a large box, is also known to occur when some specific directinput DLLs are installed. If you have previously installed these DLLs to fix other games you may need to remove them. (Retired problem): My login credentials are not being saved The W3Dhub launcher only saves your login credentials when it exits normally. If the launcher crashes then it won't save them. Workaround: Enter your credentials Wait until you are logged in Close the W3Dhub launcher before it crashes. (Retired problem): The W3Dhub launcher crashes exactly 15 seconds after logging in EDIT: As of Wine 4.3 (March 2019) this problem no-longer appears to occur. If you are still suffering this problem then please reply to this topic saying so. Workaround: Open the W3Dhub launcher Wait for it to log you in (your name and avatar will appear on it) Launch a second copy of the W3Dhub launcher The second copy will login, work normally and will not crash. The first copy will crash, but you can safely close it and ignore it. I've paced the steps above for a reason: please follow them. If you launch two copies of the launcher at the same time then there is a chance one copy won't login properly. You can also open more than two copies, but this is not generally that useful. (Retired problem): The W3Dhub launcher pegs a few CPU cores EDIT: As of Wine 4.3 (March 2019) this problem no-longer appears to occur. If you are still suffering this problem then please reply to this topic saying so. I have no idea what's going on here. Excessive redraw loops if not vsync limited? Mining for tibercoin? This may negatively affect your gameplay if you do not have spare processor cores. Do you have a GPU that supports Vulkan? Install DXVK and reap better performance! winetricks dxvk DXVK converts directX calls into Vulkan calls. This is (generally) less CPU intensive than converting directX calls to OpenGL calls (which Wine normally does), and many W3D/Renegade games are CPU-bound. Warning: whilst this works for W3Dhub games, it is known to break other ones! If all else goes wrong: starting from scratch Sometimes installers will refuse to cooperate because of the state of your Wine environment. Installing some older versions of dotnet can 'break' dotnet461, stopping the launcher from running Installing dotnet461 or other dlls can (in some circumstance) break other older games or programs. If you need to start with a 'fresh windows environment', then consider deleting the ".wine" folder in your home directory. Warning: this will delete all files in your virtual C:\ drive, including other windows programs and games! Note: Filenames and foldernames beginning with a dot are hidden. Alternatively you can create a single "Wineprefix" just for W3Dhub and W3D games. Every "Wineprefix" you have is like a separate Windows installation and environment, complete with its own version of the C:\ drive and Windows registry. Whilst Wineprefixes are a very effective way of segregating different Windows programs/games, they require some more advanced steps to setup and use, so I don't recommend them for beginners. https://askubuntu.com/questions/956244/what-is-a-wineprefix https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#Wineprefixes I use wine prefixes extensively. I have had bad experiences with experimental windows programs breaking my registry and ruining modded game installs that have otherwise survived many years of my abuse. I have also had certain games require dlls that dramatically slow other games down. End notes This is a very Windows/MSVC-centric community so I don't ever expect Linux support to be priority, but it's nice to have it. Dotnet and all of its extensions are always going to be a PITA to get working on other platforms, that's arguably one of the motivations of dotnet. We now have projects like Mono and some interest from Microsoft in become cross platform, but things are far from perfect. Happy to answer questions and hear people's opinions; I don't mind if you have not used Linux before and there's no such thing a silly question.
  5. Remember those old Photo Threads we use to do and dox ourselves? Well, I figured I'd share some stuff that happened in my life since back in the day, you know, after I got banned back in 2007 :V While digging through the old Wayback machine, I realized that I was banned pretty much the same month that my now wife, then girlfriend, first got together. Here is a our Prom photo! Not too long after that, we were off to college! I apologize in advance if you have these notifications set up through email, but @Kicken is going to get blown up a bit, we went to college together after all! I'll do my best not to include photos of him though, since he's not around right now to give me permission. :V Speaking of college, here is me on my first day of College, ready to waste $90,000 that will end up taking just under ten years to pay off! :D I don't have any photos of it that are worth sharing, but it is around here that I began my ten year career at GameStop. Fuck GameStop, that is all :D My then Girlfriend and I also rescued a mutt around this time. We named him Duke, and the silly old bastard is still kicking around today! He just turned 10 last month actually Fast forward some years, and after being in a relationship for 8 years, my girlfriend and I got married! @Kicken was actually one of my Groomsmen, and may or may not be in this photo with us! A few years later and I found my true hobby calling! Video games were a massive part of my life, for a large part of my life, however they have taken a back seat to Miniature Modeling and Table Top Wargaming! Here is a photo of my first Warhammer 40,000 army, Salamanders Space Marines! I no longer have these brehs, as I grew tired with Marines of the loyal variety, but I currently have several armies. Adeptus Custodes, Imperial Knights, Astra Militarum, Necrons, and my favorite of the bunch, Emperor's Children Chaos Space Marines. I started my Emperor's Children as a Kill Team back in 2018, here is a photo of the full roster, lead by then named The Pure Asmodai :D (he's the snake boi in the center, though its hard to make out in this photo) And we come to the relative present. My wife and I have been married for five years, together for 14, my dog just turned 10, I no longer work at GameStop, and I have a new hobby that I love! From my wife and I, love you brehs, and I'm happy to be back to being a regular around these parts <3
  6. Just found a cool GIF online that was labelled Black Hand Shrine, not sure if anyone knows where it's from, but I really like the twist on a Hand of Nod for the Black Hand.
  7. Step 1: Download & Install the W3D Hub Launcher Get the W3D Hub Launcher from the official source! Download here, or click the button in the "Quick Links" section at the top of our forum - (useful for instructing friends). This will take you to the Launcher page in our downloads section. Click the big blue Download button to get the installer. Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the prompts. Choose whether or not you want a desktop icon on the first screen, then press Next. Advanced users can choose an alternate install folder. This is useful if you have a small primary drive and want to keep your games on a secondary drive, or if you simply don't like the default location. This screen means you're done! Step 2: Configure & Update the Launcher Enable/Disable Automatic Error Reporting - On the first run, you will be prompted with a screen to opt in (or out) of automatic error reporting. Selecting either option will not affect functionality in any way. W3D Hub does not collect data about anyone. This features simply enables the launcher to send error reports to us automatically if it encounters a problem, instead of requiring that you submit them manually. Update the Launcher - The launcher contains an automatic updater that will run each time you open it. For the latest and greatest features and program stability, we recommend always installing the most current update when prompted. After an update installs, the launcher will restart normally, and display the new version number. Choose a Nickname - Pick a name that other players will never forget! Nicknames are required for online play. If you choose to not pick a nickname now, then you will be prompted to do so the first time that you join a server. This nickname will be retained, so you will not have to set it again unless you wish to change it. Keep in mind that offensive nicknames are not allowed, and a moderator will ask you to change your name if it is deemed inappropriate. To choose a nickname, navigate to the "Server Browser" tab, and press the "Set Nickname" button on the right side of the window. A smaller window will appear. Type in your desired nickname, and press Save. Your chosen nickname will be displayed on the left side of the window. Log in to the Launcher - Currently, logging into the launcher with your w3dhub.com/forum/ account credentials is not necessary, except for anyone who wishes to play Expansive Civilain Warfare (ECW). In the future, there will be more features that utilize the login function - Everything is a work in progress While logging in currently adds no function or benefit for other games, it is necessary for the function of ECW because of the unique way that ECW is built. Each player is unique, and you have things such as bank accounts, property ownership, and other settings which are retained from one match to the next. The best way to secure a player's account and verify ownership is to associate it with a forum account. To log in, simply click the "Login" button in the top right corner of the launcher window, enter your credentials into the small window that appears, and click "Login to W3D Hub". Thats it! Extra settings - Did you change your mind about automatic error reports? Or perhaps you decided that you want to change the location where games are installed, or where the launcher package cache exists. Do you prefer to use the launcher in your native language? Well you are in luck, as we have settings for that Access this screen by clicking on the cog/gear button in the top right corner of the launcher, next to the Exit and Minimize buttons. The launcher currently supports 10 languages, with more to come! Remember to hit "save" in the bottom right corner after making any changes here, else you'll be back! Community links - For your convenience, there are quick links to many of our communities and services on the Community tab, along with a brief change-log for the launcher program. From here, you can quickly jump to the W3D Hub Forum, our Discord server, Facebook page, and Teamspeak3 server. Step 3: Download & Install Games Download & Install a Game - Now that we have our launcher installed and up to date, lets download something a little more fun. Our games are listed as sidebar tabs on the "Games" main launcher tab. Selecting an icon from the left sidebar will open the section for that game. From there, you can browse news articles related to each game, but more importantly, this is where games are installed. Detailed installation steps below. Notice that some games, such as Red Alert: A Path Beyond have more than one version available for download. "Release" refers to the most current (Delta 3.x) and the other one is the Classic Beta 1.2 version from 2007. After choosing which version to install, hit the big blue Install button. The launcher will begin downloading packages for the selected game. If all goes well, you will be prompted with a message stating that the install was successful. You may encounter this message after the game installation is complete. Choose the option to download the .NET framework packages as shown below. This is very important, because none of our games will run without this package! This should only have to be done once. If you encounter this message (or any other), then please contact us in the #tech-support channel on our Discord server, and we will assist you. (Spoiler - it usually means that either your internet connection is unstable, or your hard drive is completely full!) Step 4: Configure your Game(s) Settings Configure your games to work best on your system - After installation has been completed, each game must be configured for your system. The launcher has a built-in settings screen for each game, located in each game's dedicated section of the launcher. In this example, I am configuring APB Beta 1.2 that I installed a moment ago. So I will navigate to the Games tab, APB section in the left pane, select the Beta 1.2 version, and then click the "Game Settings" button to bring up this screen. Many of these settings can be configured from within the game, but some can only be changed while the game is not running. This screen has everything from major settings such as Resolution and Detail levels, to smaller things such as toggles for defaulting to First/Third person, etc. Configuring wwconfig.exe - Anyone who has been playing Renegade or any W3D-engine game for any length of time remembers the days before our launcher - way back when all we had was the wwconfig tool. Westwood shipped a configuration tool for Renegade with the game, which is considered to be mostly a relic of the past, but we keep it around just in case the launcher's settings window doesn't work correctly, or for those who run W3D games without the launcher. After selecting a game and version (as before), select the "Install Folder" button. Doing so will open the folder in which that game resides, which is useful for many reasons. WWconfig.exe should almost always be the last file in the directory. Open it, and you will be greeted with this nifty little tool. Like on the launcher's game config screen, here reside many useful settings, most of them exactly the same as the launcher's config screen, but some different. Most people should never have to use this utility, but knowledge of what and where it is can help, just in case. Step 5: Go Play! Play a Game! - Once you have a game installed, you will notice that the buttons "Play Now" and "Single Player" have appeared at the bottom of the launcher. As the names suggest, "Play Now" will immediately launch you into an online multiplayer game on one of our servers, while the "Single Player" option will launch the game in offline mode, where you can explore all the maps by yourself, OR set up a good old fashioned LAN-party game! Additionally, you can navigate over to the "Server Browser" tab, to see a full list of servers for all of our games. All servers associated with games which are installed will show a "Join Server" button. Furthermore, games which have not yet been installed will give the option to install from this page as well. Notice that Renegade does not give an install option - because while our games are free, Renegade is still a game that must be purchased and licensed from EA. Importing Renegade Guide coming soon. Uninstalling a game Steps coming soon. Uninstalling the W3D-Hub Launcher Steps coming soon. [WIP]
  8. I'm still around these forums, lurking and watching. But I've also been doing lots of cool things around the place as well. For a while I was the lead designer on an indie game project (unfortunately it died), and I ended up writing a bunch of tracks for the game's soundtrack. Since then I've taken some courses at university on music production and have been fiddling around with things in my free time. If you want to hear what I've done you can follow me on soundcloud: Thanks for having a listen!
  9. Thats right I am still alive and kicking, I haven't been on the forums for years now so I thought I would update everyone on my status. What have I been up to? Not much really but I finally got my first ever gaming pc (well its more of a starter gaming laptop). I have an HP Gaming laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Video card, and at least 8GB of RAM, it was pretty cheap one too I got for only around ~$550. On my new laptop I have an have been playing games like ARMA 3, Ground Branch, Wargame Red dragon, and just recently got addicted to an Airsimulator called DCS World. Thats basically it really, im just happy to be back on forums again and you will expect to see me active more often. Thank you very much everyone. PS: I also heard APB has a throwback event tomorrow.
  10. Well, Since around August of this year, I've been doing contract work as an electrician working 9 to 5... I also recently (as of last week) got laid off from said job due to a lack of available work in the area, so now I have had tons of free time to do random whatever. So I've taken it upon myself to start making skins.... Since there hasn't been any testing events recently, and I just haven't had much to do productively outside of waiting to get my pink slip to turn into the Union Hall, then get a quarter of my monthly wages in the form of unemployment until they find some other job site 2 hours away from me that I can start working at... (Fuck that tbh... I'm not doing that bullshit.) So while I'm waiting for interview calls, I've been letting my inner artist out by creating skins for War Thunder: The only game I've ever played for 67 months straight. please.... send help..... https://live.warthunder.com/post/869457/en/ https://live.warthunder.com/post/869456/en/ https://live.warthunder.com/post/869352/en/ So I guess... If anyone plays the game I could probably make an attempt to skin a vehicle or two since I'm starting to LEARN. Anywho, thats pretty much what I've been up to outside of W3DHub as of late.... Life is a pretty wild ride.
  11. I just saw this youtube video and felt it was worth sharing Main Points of Video: Usability of tools/Utility of tools -> Creativity -> Determination (opposite of RQ) Learning Curve -> Specialty -> Team Roles Guidlines/Policies -> Less Cheese (cheap wins) -> Fulfilling accomplishment / not feeling cheated Ease of Intuition / Decision making Hints -> Less Confusion / Less Helplessness -> Increased Skill / Strategy over time Complexity -> Frustration (Not Difficulty)
  12. Unfortunately, I can't share any stuff faster, because I am mostly online in social network which is limited in sharing music, so from time to time I also upload songs to Soundcloud (only own stuff) or YouTube (anything). And surely to my personal webpage. Such as this simple remake of Scout from Tiberian Sun. I slightly touched the original melody and recorded result before Twilight Flood came out. By the way, I recently updated my music section. For today, I am preparing few new C&C-inspired melodies and remakes.
  13. Hello there, here's a short guide to get connected to our IRC channels! 1. Get an IRC client. I use Hexchat personally, but there are a lot of options. mIRC is one of the more popular ones. 2. Connect to rencorner by typing /server irc.rencorner.com -- You may wish to autoconnect, look around in settings for this option 3. Type /join <channel> by replacing <channel> with the following: #w3dhub-apb (A Path Beyond) #w3dhub-ecw (Expansive Civilian Warfare) #w3dhub-tsr (Tiberian Sun Reborn) #ikmaps (Interim-Apex -- this channel was called Imperial Kaskins Maps before the official IA name was conceived) 4. Protect your IRC nickname by registering it. In the rencorner channel or any other channel, type /ns register <password> <email> and replace password with a password you'll remember, and email with your email address or a throwaway. Once you register, you'll be asked to identify yourself each time you connect to IRC. Just type /ns identify <password> to do so. If you're using HexChat, you can click HexChat -> Network List -> Edit button for Rencorner and add a Connect Command to do this for you on startup.
  14. Good Evening all. I would like to make this known I am not posting this as a staff member but personally myself as Threve. As many of you know a couple days ago a gunman walked into a building and shot 50 people point blank while filming it using memes and a bunch of internet references while doing so. There are numerous and endless discussions on the politics of it none of which are what this topic is about. All to often it seems to people kill themselves or commit acts with no outlet to reach anyone or any help. It is easy to get down, it is easy to give up hope but difficult to ask for help. If you or anyone that you know is in the fray and need someone to talk to then please reach out. Talking to that one friend or asking for help can change the life and outcome of things or at the very least help. Some of the darkest days i've had have been helped by some good people here on these forums and I invite anyone that needs a helping hand or someone to talk to.. to message me if need be or talk to anyone. I talk alot of shit all the time in-game but i do genuinely mean it in good fun and not to be taken seriously. This goes not just for this website but anyone you know as well. Reach out to those friends you haven't talked to in a while and if someone joins and it seems their chat is more so about how much they are down then take a moment and talk to them about it. We are not just W3D Hub. We are the W3DHub community and having that title means looking out for each other so that we can keep kicking ass not only in-game but also in life. I am not naive and know that some will call this topic cuck or whatever (so is the internet) but it needs to be said and if it helps at least one person out from doing something irreversible then that is what matters. Suicide Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255 If you need someone to talk to then message your friends here on the forums or message me and I'll do my best to help. Again, don't let yourself be in this alone. Note: Respectfully, this is not the topic to post memes related to the shooting or discuss the politics of it. If you'd like to then make a new topic and go from there.
  15. I will just leave this here. https://forum.openra.net/viewtopic.php?f=82&amp;t=20777 http://www.openra.net/news/special-announcement/
  16. [blurb]The update everyone has been waiting to see![/blurb][thumb]thumb_apb.7.png[/thumb]Hello everyone! Welcome to the late night update! The update you've all been waiting for the past few weeks! I'm your host, Coolrock-o! I bring you an exciting new showing of what's been in the works for the past few months. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy getting this all ready for the fans that have been sticking around all these years. Be happy that Pushwall is here, otherwise none of this wouldn't be possible! I know I have a lot of you on the edge wondering what this is all about by now, so let's get to it! MiGThe MiG is finally finished, and will be added into the game come the next patch. More details will be released in the developer blog! For now, I have a very nice render to show off the final product. This should be a nice flash back for anyone familiar with the Red Alert cutscenes. Model by @Sir_Phoenixx | Texture by @Fabian| Render by @Dghelneshi With such a flashy new MiG being added into the game, which threatens the Allied Navy, we decided that it was also time to overhaul the naval units. Let's face it, the older models have served their purpose! Gunboat While the best looking of the two ships, we still felt that this ship needed a new look to match the other detail wise. Here's a look at the new Gunboat! Again, more details will be given once the developer blog is released. Model & Texture by Omegavision | Render by @Dghelneshi Let's jump right into our last update for the night! DestroyerThis has to be one of the biggest improvements to a vehicle this game has seen in years. Hands down one of the best looking vehicles currently in the game. This will be your go-to when protecting your fleet from incoming Yaks, MiGs, and Hinds! Model & Texture by Omegavision | Render by @Dghelneshi Along with all this happening, the Soviets also need to see an update also. Currently a WIP, but I wanted to share this with you guys anyways! Missile SubSorry for the picture quality, but it's the best I have for this sneak peak. Hope you guys don't mind! Model by @Kane000 This one won't be ready for a while, but it'll be coming with hopefully a new Attack Sub later this year! With all that said and done, I hope you guys enjoyed this little teaser. I swear I'm forgetting something though Oh that's right! How silly of me! Cruiser Model & Texture by Omegavision | Render by @Dghelneshi IT'S HERE NEXT PATCH! GOODNIGHT EVERYONE!
  17. Good Evening all. I've recently been playing Interim Apex and on the map Urban Warfare there is a lot of acclaim that the music is good. One of the tracks however has eluded me and searching the data in the Interim Apex folder (Always.dat 1, 2, 3 and all 27 IA.mix files) has led me to nothing. Therefor.. If anyone would like to listen to the catchy song from the Urban Warfare map it is here for your pleasure. Enjoy All and if you know the author, title or name please let me know so I can update accordingly.
  18. Hi guys and girls. I didn't know where to stick this so If you need to move it then do so. As I reside over at Rencorner.com and use Remote Desktop to connect to server boxes I found out that if your PC updates to the latest Microsoft updated version, you will get an error message like this example and not be able to connect to the server box. I found this out myself as this happened to me. Further information about this is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/4093492 https://www.computerworld.com/article/3271849/microsoft-windows/patch-tuesday-problems-fixes-but-no-cause-for-immediate-alarm.html http://support.microsoft.com/kb/4103718 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/4099633 Just thought I'd give you guys/girls a head's up if you didn't already know. I fixed my issue by uninstalling the latest Windows update (9th May) and rebooted my PC, and now I have access to the server box. @Strike I now can get on your box again lol. Anyways I hope this helps and also keep an eye on the Microsoft updates. Cheerz ice187dna o/
  19. Renegade turns 16 years old today! This game has shaped all of our lives in some way and is the reason why W3D Hub exists as a community today! This odd little game released and captured the hearts of many C&C fans with it's unique multiplayer mode back in 2002 (and during the beta before that). The fact that the game was so flexible from a modding standpoint has pretty much brought us to where we are now. Here's a nice article about Greg Hjelstrom developing the modding tools for Renegade, most of which we still use today: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2002/02/01/cc-renegade-designer-diary-pt-7 Consequently Renegade X, the UDK re-imagining of C&C Renegade also turns 4 years old today! Big congrats to the team over at https://renegade-x.com for all of their hard work! I think Renegade X developer (and C&C Reborn alumni) FobbyGen said it best on the Renegade X Facebook page earlier today, so here's a slice of what he wrote. Check out the full post here: https://www.facebook.com/CNCRenX/posts/10156246743512431 I think that it's astonishing that even today Renegade continues to get a somewhat small but steady stream of players that keep the game alive for anyone wishing to return to it. Renegade Forums may be very quiet these days, but that hasn't stopped communities like W3D Hub from flourishing and building our own fan-bases. Keep your eyes peeled in the next few days for some more exciting announcements about some of the stuff we've got planned for this year! [thumb]custom_thumb_ren.png[/thumb][blurb]Happy 16th birthday to Command and Conquer Renegade! Also a happy 4th birthday to Renegade X![/blurb]
  20. What do you use for background noise when you're working on projects, reports, and other such mindless tasks? I'll start with the URealms Live playlist, it's basically a D&D campaign you can listen to with a few funny moments, and you won't miss much by just listening to the video. https://www.youtube.com/user/BruceWillakers/playlists?shelf_id=29&view=50&sort=dd
  21. So the Linkin Park frontman died today of apparent self-hanging. The creepiest part of this is that today is Chris Cornell's birthday! These dudes were friends! Goosebumps anyone?
  22. [blurb]CNCNZ isn't shutting down! It was, but now it's not![/blurb] Friends, it is with great regret that I inform you that CNCNZ.com, the second-longest running C&C community site, is shutting down in the coming days. Archive what you can and care about. http://forums.cncnz.com/topic/20688-all-good-things-its-time-say-to-goodbye/ Ninjaedit: CNCNZ isn't shutting down!
  23. Hi all! It's been awhile since I've posted here, I've mostly been lurking, reading updates and such. I had to log back in though, because I have to talk about something extremely important. Net Neutrality. The definition of Net Neutrality is "the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites." This means that all data flows the same way, from everywhere. If you want to watch a movie on Netflix, or stream that movie on a different website, then they will both use the same speed connection, and the connection cannot be slowed down or blocked. However, the FCC has recently voted to strike this down, and is currently in the debating state. Come August(the 8th, I believe), if nothing is done about it, Net Neutrality will be voted out, giving Internet Service Providers like Comcast free reign over your connection speed and that of others. They will be able to freely throttle or block data from any website, for any reason, and charge the owners to get the speed back, without any legal repercussions. I don't know where W3DHub is based, what your finances are like, or what ISPs would charge for uncompromised data flow, but it may very well make this website unusable, and W3DHub's games unplayable. Which is why I want to warn you. W3DHub is a fantastic place, with great members, and talented devs who are still making the most out of a game engine over a decade old, and doing a damn good job of it. Each mod has a lot of love and hard work thrown into it, with some mods still in development, and I want those mods to be able to be shared for years to come, and I'm sure you do too. Please, support Net Neutrality. Call your Representative, call or email the FCC, join a march, anything. The FCC is pushing this hard, but we can push harder.
  24. I was saddened and dismayed this morning when I opened facebook, to see a post by Frank Klepacki commenting on the death of Chris Cornell last night. If you don't know who this guy is, then you are likely not very old or just don't much like rock music, because he was only in about half a dozen different bands during the 90s and 2000s (soundgarden, temple of the dog, audioslave just to name a few). He is well known for his amazing voice and talent. The music world has definitely taken a loss today.
  25. So recently there's been A LOT of news about Disney being sued for "copying ideas for Zootopia" http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/disney-sued-over-zootopia http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/movies/disney-sued-for-allegedly-stealing-oscarwinning-zootopia-20170322-gv4bqx.html http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/mar/21/gary-goldman-screenwriter-sues-disney-over-zootopi/ (There's way more than just this) Now this isn't the first time Disney is being accused of stealing, but all this talk right now about taking ideas from a pitch reminds me of Louis Castle talking about how Battlefield came about: Just some trivia about the idea for Battlefield. Except Westwood has been shut down so there's no way in hell there's any chance of them trying to sue DICE. But if Westwood was still around, would they even get so worked up about the possibility of their pitch ideas getting copied? I don't want to start an argument, but I really wanted to let people know that there is a possibility that one of the biggest FPS franchises was actually created by 'stealing' an idea from Westwood, but yet DICE isn't getting sued for "copying the creators of C&C" So why is a writer getting so worked up about a friggin furry film (I know it's "so much more than that") that just has some similarities to his work?
